Happy 420!

R.I.P. Guru.

To me, Gang Starr has always epitomized the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. You know when you had to have talent and write your own rhymes. When you had to actually work for your music and it had nothing to do with Auto Tune and who you did a remix for or who you were beefing with on Twitter or whatever inane crap is happening now.

To show you how real talents do it, I present Exhibit A: Work and Exhibit B: Mass Appeal

*sigh*

In less distressing news, something rather odd happened to me last week. I was home (yeah, no that could be considered odd as well) but I found myself home in the evening with absolutely nothing on. And I do mean nothing. Except for the premiere of the new Doctor Who. I am not an old Who fan. I am not a new Who fan. Do not attempt to convert me to David Tennant or Rose or Chris Eccleston or Classic Who. I have very strong opinions about Tennant and you'll probably run off in tears.

So imagine my shock when I encountered Eleven. Oh, Matt Smith. Where have you been all my life with your floppy hair and bowties and quirky features that shouldn't work but do anyway? (I told you so [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 ♥)

[livejournal.com profile] issaro says you never forget your first doctor. Now I see what she's talking about. Do not spoil me, I have only seen one episode, but I will actively be looking for more, so hooray for that. And icons. I would be liking icons if someone cared to point me in said direction.

S4 of Mad Men premieres Sunday July 25th. 10pm. AMC. !!!! I've missed you Hotass Girlfriend of Awesome, even though you set the entire issue of Esquire on fire with your brilliance and hotassery

Some genius left their protype fourth generation iPhone in a bar. Oh my god, THE BRILLIANCE. What do you write on your unemployment form when you get fired for this?

Got drunk and left most wanted phone in universe at bar. My bad.

Last night I had a dream about Tony. Not Bob. Tony. Tony who you ask? Tony fucking Stark, people! And you know what that means? That means it's Summer Fandom time. Oh god I love summer fandom time. A chance to shake off the grief and ennui and frustration of fulltime fandoms and just fall in lust love filthy pornographic adoration with something awesome that's totally into public sex.

This has happened with Spider-Man 2. X-2. And the original Iron Man (can we sense a comic book theme here?) and frankly, I am so excited to be moving on.

On May 7th Tony Stark and I are getting it on.

I would very much LIKE to watch the new Who. I hear it is awesome. But you get your heart broken enough times by the same dude, you think very carefully before you go back to him, you know what I'm saying?

In other news, WOO LESS THAN A MONTH TIL IRON MAN 2!!! This also means another go-round of RDJ's hilarious interviews. I'm excited for those, too.

GangStarr was pure brilliance. It's just really sad that Guru's death is now overshadowed by this phony "good-bye letter" that Solar published. It's so ridiculous and petty!

Also, also. I didn't believe for a second that a developer seriously forgot the prototype of the new iPhone at a bar. Apple has long since leaked their stuff on purpose. And that stunt is just too ridiculous. When I heard about it my only thought was: I love that Apple isn't even pretending any more. ;)

Liked Eccleston, hated Tennant, love Smith. Dude. Passionately. Was so excited when I heard he was going to be the new doctor. And he has not disappointed! Also, HANDS. (Theme!)

Furthermore, TONY. I adore summer. And Tony.

(Oh, and icons.)

You find Tennant kind of insufferable too? I'm glad you like the new Who. Write more once you watch more of it.

Man, I forgot about all that X-Men 2 fic. Oh those halcyon days.

I couldn't stand Tennant, so maybe I'll give this Doctor a try. His hotass bowties and hair have been popping up all over my tumblr.

Isn't Matt Smith ADORABLE? I think he might be edging up on Eccleston's position as my Doctor, which I didn't think was possible. This season is just turning out so much fun, I'm glad you've hopped onboard for the ride! :D

Oh, and: [livejournal.com profile] dwicons

TONY STARK. I AM SO EXCITED I MAY EXPLODE.

What? It totally works.

[info]issaro says you never forget your first doctor.
THIS IS TRUE.

I hated Ten. Good god, what an asshole. But Eleven is full of love and squee and gravity-defying hair!

Also, aurora_84, your icon makes Nine look like he's wearing a sombrero. With lights on.

Adding to the chorus of "I hated Tennant." Matt Smith is amazingly fun :D

So many awesome things in this post. 1. Hendrick's comments about the steel box, the importance of smell, etc. all ring so true to me. 2. I like the comments on that blog that Apple must have leaked the phone out on purpose, and fears of their ability to 'remotely kill' its operating system. 3. Iron Man sequel. Yay!

Have you tried Treme? It's from the makers of The Wire so I was excpeting your comments. I watched the first episode and it's nearly as good as Southlands (I will say as good after seeing more episodes)

I have been a Who fan for some time, and I too love Eleven dearly. I am looking forward to the rest of his era!
