The Hotass State?

Subsequent to my last post, [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma, [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 and I have been wondering what exactly is in the water in Texas to make the ratio of hotass so high?

As far as the three of us are aware:

- Ben McKenzie (Austin)*
- Matt Bomer (Houston)
- Lee Pace (Houston)
- Jensen Ackles (Richardson)
- Jared Padalecki (San Antonio)**

are all from Texas.

So, we come to you to ask, who else? What other hotassery is from Texas?

You got pictures? Bring'em.

Also, please provide hometowns as well since we need to know if a sabbatical is in order and whether or not we need tasers and zipties or just some good old fashioned rope and cleavage.

*[livejournal.com profile] sparky77 has informed me that Austin is not Texas.** I was... not aware of this. Is this like when that Congressman said Texas was going to scede from the US? [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma believes some people might take offense to this, but does not necessarily disagree. Much in the same way that Northern VA is not like the rest of VA.

**I have been informed that people from San Antonio are "weird" and/or "insane." [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 says there's really awesome BBQ there though.

Ah, so, it's not in the water now it was in the water back then!

A very good year!

(oenophile humor)

Excellent vintage!

(extending the wine metaphor)

I'd like to order some for my cellar.

(and then it gets creepy.)

I keep forgetting that! I think it's because I'm so amused by the thought of David Boreanaz calling him "the pocket Oklahoman".

Lee Pace was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma. But we're Texas adjacent, and responsible for a bit of hotassery ourselves. Brad Pitt comes to mind. ^_^

Sorry for the derail, but not a lot of good comes from my home state these days. I tend to latch on.

The 70s were good in Texas, apparently!

THANK YOU, because: Word!

I lived in Texas in the 70s (80s & 90s, too) - we were BORED. That's what happened. ::g::

Very glad that all that gorgeousness comes from my home state.

Chace Crawford is from Texas! A bit of a pretty boy, Efron-lite on occasion, and definitely comes from the Mischa Barton School of Acting, but when he gets the manly scruff and stubble going....what I am saying is, sometimes he kinda does it for me.

Also sometimes I just PRETEND the whole Friday Night Lights cast is actually Texan.

Texas can't help that it produces such hotassery. We're just all so damn good lookin'.

Farrah Fawcett was from Corpus.

I have been thinking that VERY SAME THING for quite a while now. And I was going to add Christian Kane, who was born in TX, and just redefines the concept of hotassery imho.

And I did not know about Alan Tudyk, but I'm happy to add him to the list...

Right. Now all I need is a pretext to go and spend time there.

Speaking as a native Austinite, I agree that (for the most part), Austin is not Texas.

And actually, all the cool people in Dallas flee to Austin, not Fort Worth. ;D

Austin is not-Texas is all the good, important ways.

Wikipedia has a very long list of actors from Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Actors_from_Texas). A lot have already been mentioned, but I'd like to point out Kevin Alejandro (Nate Moretta on Southland). :D

Alas, parts of Austin are seeming pretty Texas these days.

What parts were you thinking of?

[identity profile] inmyriadbits.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
(okay, Plano actually, which I maintain was some gringo's idea of "flat" in Spanish)

Actually, plano does mean flat in Spanish (http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dict_en_es/english/flat_1).

I went to the park with all fountains when I was in Ft. Worth and the modern art museum which was awesome. And there were lots of really good restaurants. I was very impressed.

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I lived in Austin for about a year and loved it.

[identity profile] ladyvyola.livejournal.com 2010-05-07 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Somehow I was under the impression that it wasn't the sense of geographically flat (as in non-hilly). Ah, well. Nuance and I are apparently as close as grammer and I are.

Well, we love central so I'm probably being a total snot but most everything north of 183 and south of Ben White tends to feel like generic conservative Texas to me. And, ya know, get offa my lawn.

Love your icon! (and yeah, I've been around town longer than the mural.)

[identity profile] dremiel.livejournal.com 2010-05-07 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! We also LIVE central.

It is a taco in a puffed up fried tortilla. Very yummy!

Also, Kevin Alejandro, rilly? AWESOME.

I LOVE YOUR POSTS, js.

Also, let's not forget about this Texas native GQMF -

George Eads, Fort Worth!

Oh, and I think I know what people mean about Austin. It's sort of like Florida and how Miami/SoFla is completely different from the rest of it. For example, I life in the panhandle and it's extremely southern around here. Ironically, the more south you drive in FL, the less "southern" it gets....IDK if that made sense, but whatever ;)

[identity profile] shelby-tiger07.livejournal.com 2010-05-07 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Jared Padalecki does seem a little "weird" in interviews and whatnot. But in an AWESOME way.

om nom nom

We've got a Puffy Taco place up in Round Rock now, right 'round the corner from the Louisiana Longhorn Cafe :D
