The Hotass State?

Subsequent to my last post, [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma, [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 and I have been wondering what exactly is in the water in Texas to make the ratio of hotass so high?

As far as the three of us are aware:

- Ben McKenzie (Austin)*
- Matt Bomer (Houston)
- Lee Pace (Houston)
- Jensen Ackles (Richardson)
- Jared Padalecki (San Antonio)**

are all from Texas.

So, we come to you to ask, who else? What other hotassery is from Texas?

You got pictures? Bring'em.

Also, please provide hometowns as well since we need to know if a sabbatical is in order and whether or not we need tasers and zipties or just some good old fashioned rope and cleavage.

*[livejournal.com profile] sparky77 has informed me that Austin is not Texas.** I was... not aware of this. Is this like when that Congressman said Texas was going to scede from the US? [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma believes some people might take offense to this, but does not necessarily disagree. Much in the same way that Northern VA is not like the rest of VA.

**I have been informed that people from San Antonio are "weird" and/or "insane." [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 says there's really awesome BBQ there though.

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just commenting to take ownership on my Texas beliefs that Austin is not Texas and people from San Antonio are weird. I will also say that Fort Worth is where all the cool people in Dallas flee to.

I will add as I come up with more controversial Texas statements.

[identity profile] jenna-thorn.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Non controversial Texas statements - the Ft Worth zoo is fantastic, the Kimball is wonderful and the Japanese gardens are delightful. So we flee on weekends, and then come back to paying jobs on this side of DFW.

Austin may not be Texas, but Georgetown and Fredricksburg sure are.

Stark Sands is from Dallas...

I was thinking that same thing!

[identity profile] vic-ramsey.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A few people from Texas:

Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes), Alexis Bleidel (Gilmore Girls), Beyonce & Solange Knowles, Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), Ethan Hawke, Eva Longoria Parker (Desparate Housewives), Jackson Rathbone (Twilight), Hilary Duff, Summer Glau (Firefly), Amy Acker (Angel), Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Erykah Badu, Jessica & Ashlee Simpson, Forest Whitaker, Owen & Luke Wilson, Robin Wright Penn and Mark Salling (Glee).

Austin is less crazy than the rest of Texas but it's still weird in its own way.

[identity profile] ninasis.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Beat me to the punch on Mark Salling. And we can't forget Matthew McConaughey and the Wilson brothers. (I personally find Owen kind of fugly, but Luke has his moments.)

[identity profile] ladyvyola.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I am both amused and in full agreement -- I've lived in both Austin and Dallas (okay, Plano actually, which I maintain was some gringo's idea of "flat" in Spanish) and I've now lived in Northern Virginia for over 25 years. Austin and NoVa are in but not of their respective states. Commonwealths. Whatever.

Oooooo! And since Oklahomans consider Texas "Baja Oklahoma", I believe reciprocity could allow us to assign Texas hotass status to Christian Kane. I'm just sayin'.

Well, the big one is of course Stark Sands, as [livejournal.com profile] passionofmind pointed out...

Ethan Hawke (not my thing, but, you know) is from Austin; I'm pretty sure Jamie Foxx is from TX, not sure where, though; Dennis Quaid -- I think he's from Houston?

Dude. That's a lot of totally random information in my brain.

Also, TX, The Hotass State, for real!

According to the internet (Wikipedia) Foxx is from Terrell which is about twenty minutes east of Dallas on I20.

Alan Tudyk (Wash on Firefly) is from either Richardson or Plano, ah, no, wikipedia to the rescue again. Born in El Paso, raised in Plano. Go Wildcats.

Alas, parts of Austin are seeming pretty Texas these days.

Also - San Antonio = Puffy Tacos!!! Well, actually El Paso is the home of really amazing puffy tacos but SA is better than Austin.

Because I thought about this literally yesterday, I will add that four of those--Matt Bomer, Jensen Ackles, Ben McKenzie, and Stark Sands--were born within one 365-day period.

Lee Pace was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma. But we're Texas adjacent, and responsible for a bit of hotassery ourselves. Brad Pitt comes to mind. ^_^

Sorry for the derail, but not a lot of good comes from my home state these days. I tend to latch on.

[identity profile] paxluvfelicitas.livejournal.com 2010-05-11 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
I grew up in Texas, and my high school debate coach judged Mr. Pitt in Dramatic Interp* back in the day, so we're totally claiming him at least a little bit.

*When pressed for details, he described Brad as being "pretty good." Yes, we did all hate him lots.

[identity profile] londondrowning.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Chace Crawford is from Texas! A bit of a pretty boy, Efron-lite on occasion, and definitely comes from the Mischa Barton School of Acting, but when he gets the manly scruff and stubble going....what I am saying is, sometimes he kinda does it for me.

Also sometimes I just PRETEND the whole Friday Night Lights cast is actually Texan.

Texas can't help that it produces such hotassery. We're just all so damn good lookin'.

Farrah Fawcett was from Corpus.

[identity profile] elzed.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I have been thinking that VERY SAME THING for quite a while now. And I was going to add Christian Kane, who was born in TX, and just redefines the concept of hotassery imho.

And I did not know about Alan Tudyk, but I'm happy to add him to the list...

Right. Now all I need is a pretext to go and spend time there.

[identity profile] inmyriadbits.livejournal.com 2010-05-06 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Austin is not-Texas is all the good, important ways.

Wikipedia has a very long list of actors from Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Actors_from_Texas). A lot have already been mentioned, but I'd like to point out Kevin Alejandro (Nate Moretta on Southland). :D

[identity profile] alethialia.livejournal.com 2010-05-07 04:55 am (UTC)(link)

Also, Kevin Alejandro, rilly? AWESOME.

Oh, and I think I know what people mean about Austin. It's sort of like Florida and how Miami/SoFla is completely different from the rest of it. For example, I life in the panhandle and it's extremely southern around here. Ironically, the more south you drive in FL, the less "southern" it gets....IDK if that made sense, but whatever ;)

[identity profile] shelby-tiger07.livejournal.com 2010-05-07 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Jared Padalecki does seem a little "weird" in interviews and whatnot. But in an AWESOME way.

Hi! [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 sent me. Don't forget Sendhil Ramamurthy of Heroes; he's from San Antonio, and he's wicked hot. Also, Ethan Hawke (Austin), Alan Tudyk (El Paso), Christian Kane (Dallas), and Matthew McConaughey (Uvalde). And representing the female side of hotassery, Alexis Bledel (Houston), Jennifer Garner (Houston), Summer Glau (San Antonio), Amy Acker (Dallas), Michelle Rodriguez (Bexar County), Renée O'Connor (Austin), and Jaclyn Smith (Houston). We breed 'em pretty down here!

OH MY LORD! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MEHCAD BROOKS?! I have to admit most of the people listed in this post above don't do anything for me... but that fine specimen of hotassery? Wow. Thank you, Texas.

i am just commenting to say FUCK YEAH TEXAS. i love living here. cause the hotassery isn't just celebrities. there is more hotass in texas than anywhere else i have ever, ever lived. love it so much. texas boys ♥ half my coworkers? HOT. this scowly, gorgeous, built, tattooed guy i met randomly a few weeks ago who wouldn't tell me his job but secretly turned out to be a sheriff? HOTTTT.

and as for celebrities, he's not an actor, but a motorcycle racer. but he's from longview (dallas), and painfully hot.
