This is not a love story.

1. I have a new saviour. His name is Benedict Cumberbatch. [livejournal.com profile] sparky77, [livejournal.com profile] maurheti and I will now be High Priestesses at The Most Holy Temple of the Cumberbatch. If you have need of our services, please come see us in the garden and we'll be happy to talk about menswear ad nauseum. Okay, I will talk about clothing, the other two will talk about something else.

ETA: The below clip isn't from the above photoshoot, but who cares cause it's got Benedict and Jamie Bamber in tuxedos.

Photos from Oh No They Didn't. If there are icons for this, PLEASE GOD SHOW ME WHERE THEY ARE; I HAVE NEEDS. This is the first time in my life I've thought, "Why is the model in there, she's not nearly hot enough for him and is totally bringing down the total hotass quotient."

2. For those of us who were a little bit less than happy with the outcome of this season's Project Runway. So was Tim. Love you, Tim!

3. I am not particularly interested in Inception right now. Maybe I'm burned out. Maybe I'm seriously over it and over fandom and only want to read stories about Sherlock and Watson (I won't lie, when Benedict said in his interview 'Sherlock's asexual' all I could think was 'ohhhhhhhh, that's where that came from in fandom'. Sherlock fandom writers know how to bring in the schooling. \o/)

Maybe the Inception DVD will come out and I'll fall in love all over again.

Whatever the case, maybe I'll write something sprawling and heart-felt tomorrow based on [livejournal.com profile] loobeeinthesky's Inception art; maybe I never will again. I don't know; right now I don't really give a shit.

If you're here only for Friday Inception Recs those may not happen again. They may wind up being only about Sherlock and The Social Network. Feel free to leave at any time. You don't need my blessing or amnesty. There's no contractual obligation for 99.99% of you. We're all grown-ups even when we're not acting like it.

But, for what it's worth, here are what's left in my rec folder:

Again & Again by [livejournal.com profile] sorrynotsorry -- Arthur's an escort. Eames wants to make him a better offer.

Chasing the Rising Sun by [livejournal.com profile] foxxcub -- Arthur is a Weimaraner puppy; Eames is a Australian Shepherd puppy. Considering how high-strung Weimaraners tend to be, that's pretty perfect casting.

Dream-Share Tactical Employment procedures. by darkknightrises -- These are fucking amazing, holy fucking shit.

I Think We're Alone Now by [livejournal.com profile] nami86 -- This is Arthur/Ariadne art and I'm utterly besotted by this artist's style and her attention to detail. There are totems on the nightstand. She almost makes me wish I wrote Arthur/Ariadne, but it's not my thing, just as Arthur/Eames isn't the artist's thing (she's not gonna do it, don't bother asking). But it's always nice to appreciate awesome for the sake of awesome.

Naked Lunch by [livejournal.com profile] jibrailis -- Eames makes a wish; Arthur has to live with the consequences. It's quite the wish.

Everybody's read [livejournal.com profile] gyzym's coffee shop!AU; it's a game changer. It may be the biggest fic in Inception fandom; I'm pretty sure it's the best received and talked about for a reason. I'm not overtly recommending that one (it's obviously warranted, but well past superfluous). I'm recommending We Must Unlearn the Constellations to See The Stars which is Robert Fischer fic. There's some Robert/Saito, but it's not really about that, it's about being who you want to be and not who the world or your parents or society thinks you should. (But I suppose the coffee shop fic is about that, too; it's a thing).

And of course the folder dump wouldn't be complete without this bad ass video from [livejournal.com profile] orlisroses29 featuring Massive Attack's Inertia Creeps. I love Massive Attack. Shocking, I know.

Well, first of all, hello. I always feel it's good to start there. :) Now as for the wonder that is Benedict, and by extension, Sherlock... I would love to talk about what he wears, but I'll have to stop having hot flashes first. The wardrobe is pretty fucking impeccable is what it is. His lines are stunning. He's a perfect example of less is always more. There is nothing I've seen to-date that a disapprove of. I shall have to look harder ;-)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Benedict, where for art thou and thine really gorgeous clothes? ;-)

[identity profile] wordsalone.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, his name is BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH.

Benedict. Timothy. Carlton. Cumberbatch.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I know. He couldn't be anything but a public school boy with those features and that name.

the other two will talk about something else.

HANDS. And also FRECKLES. There might be PowerPoint involved. Definitely diagrams. Also, incoherent flailing. Yeah. A lot of that.

[identity profile] sometimesalways.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
gotta, say, I'm so glad to at least be following your fandom trajectory. Just became obsessed with Sherlock myself, so yes, bring on those recs, fics, pics, whatever you've got. Utterly adore The Social Network too.

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I really like your enjoy fics (& recs), but I'm also up for talking about The Social Network! 8) How did you like the third episode of Sherlock? I knew a bit beforehand about what was going to happen, and I was still :O! when the ending came around.

[identity profile] frabjously.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I am personally A-OKAY with you moving onto my other current fandom squee which so happens to be Sherlock :D

Sherlock was fantastic, and I'm absolutely on the edge of my seat until we get more next year. In the meantime, the fic being churned out is fabulous!

[identity profile] pyrimidine.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
THE SOCIAL NETWORK, YES

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
You know I always have something special up my sleeve just for you. Read this. Fawn appropriately. Don't say I never gave you anything (http://community.livejournal.com/heygirlfriends/11437.html)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Thankfully a year is only two months away. What? Technically speaking it is!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Sherlock is rather fabulous, isn't it. Gracious.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
See. I cover the clothes. S77 covers wings and facial structure. You cover hands and freckles. Yeah, we are sorted.

HIS HOLINESS APPROVE. See, even the icon is his blessing.

I've not seen the third issue of Sherlock yet, but I am looking forward to it tremendously!

The below clip isn't from the above photoshoot, but who cares cause it's got Benedict and Jamie Bamber in tuxedos.

That's too hot for WORDS.

Also, WOW, he looks different in these shots than in the show. Huh.

[identity profile] stasya-lj.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
First, thanks for the recs )))
Regarding that Inception video, no matter how many times I see it, it's still good *__*

I was shocked last week when I saw season finale of project Runway. Totally shocked. Why not Mondo? Whyy?? But then I came to the same conclusion as Tim said that Gretchen needs the money, Mondo will do a good job no matter what. But still... :(

OH MY GOD THAT ICON

He. I mean.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the hair. No, really, Benedict's hair turns him into a chameleon. This is what he looked like in Starter for 10 (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1994365184/tt0477095). In Sherlock his hair is dark and poofy and totally overwhelms his features. Look at the above photos again and then look at this photo from Harper's (http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lbcmhmcMai1qa93sio1_1280.png?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1288983138&Signature=i%2FDrhI7nVRwy%2B6olQpzHNs7ZTRo%3D) Red hair, bright eyes, devastating. Like I said: it's the hair.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Project Runway was like a trip into the Twilight Zone.

[identity profile] pearljamz.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
OH DUDE.
CUMBERBATCH OMG.
HAVE YOU SEEN STUART: A LIFE BACKWARDS?? HE HAS ONSCREEN BROMANCE WITH TOM HARDY. AND THEN FATHER-AND-SON LOVE WITH HUGH LAURIE ON FORTYSOMETHING

AND HIS PERFORMANC AS HAWKING. SUPERB. AND ALL HIS AUDIOBOOKS/RADIO SHOWS.

Also, have you seen the pictures of him in drag?? In this horrible horrible wig and white heels lolololol

[identity profile] burntcopper.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, Benedict needs to do more menswear shoots. (also, tell me you've seen Stuart: A Life Backwards. Benedict and Tom Hardy. sadly there is no fabulous menswear, but it's funny and will also completely break your heart.) there might be some pics floating around from After the Dance that he recently did at the National (1930s, so hello menswear). Ignore that horse-face comment. What is more important is the quote from one review in the Times that described his voice as 'like a jaguar inside a cello', at which point the entire Sherlock community fell over with a thud and had to be revived with smelling salts. There are also interviews with the wardrobe mistress. GQ pieces on Sherlock style. All tagged very helpfully on [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc

Video. Um. Wonder what it says that I have mainlined so much Tom Hardy I can go 'Take, Virgin Queen, Take again - hmm, which thing is that sex scene from?' GUH. I... really need to watch Mysterious Skin, don't I?

[identity profile] cosmic.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I am glad you are joining the Sherlock / Benedict Cumberbatch fandom! Because ... boy howdy is he attractive. And adorable, if his turn hosting Have I Got News For You and also basically anywhere else I've seen him in the past months is anything to go by.
