This is not a love story.

1. I have a new saviour. His name is Benedict Cumberbatch. [livejournal.com profile] sparky77, [livejournal.com profile] maurheti and I will now be High Priestesses at The Most Holy Temple of the Cumberbatch. If you have need of our services, please come see us in the garden and we'll be happy to talk about menswear ad nauseum. Okay, I will talk about clothing, the other two will talk about something else.

ETA: The below clip isn't from the above photoshoot, but who cares cause it's got Benedict and Jamie Bamber in tuxedos.

Photos from Oh No They Didn't. If there are icons for this, PLEASE GOD SHOW ME WHERE THEY ARE; I HAVE NEEDS. This is the first time in my life I've thought, "Why is the model in there, she's not nearly hot enough for him and is totally bringing down the total hotass quotient."

2. For those of us who were a little bit less than happy with the outcome of this season's Project Runway. So was Tim. Love you, Tim!

3. I am not particularly interested in Inception right now. Maybe I'm burned out. Maybe I'm seriously over it and over fandom and only want to read stories about Sherlock and Watson (I won't lie, when Benedict said in his interview 'Sherlock's asexual' all I could think was 'ohhhhhhhh, that's where that came from in fandom'. Sherlock fandom writers know how to bring in the schooling. \o/)

Maybe the Inception DVD will come out and I'll fall in love all over again.

Whatever the case, maybe I'll write something sprawling and heart-felt tomorrow based on [livejournal.com profile] loobeeinthesky's Inception art; maybe I never will again. I don't know; right now I don't really give a shit.

If you're here only for Friday Inception Recs those may not happen again. They may wind up being only about Sherlock and The Social Network. Feel free to leave at any time. You don't need my blessing or amnesty. There's no contractual obligation for 99.99% of you. We're all grown-ups even when we're not acting like it.

But, for what it's worth, here are what's left in my rec folder:

Again & Again by [livejournal.com profile] sorrynotsorry -- Arthur's an escort. Eames wants to make him a better offer.

Chasing the Rising Sun by [livejournal.com profile] foxxcub -- Arthur is a Weimaraner puppy; Eames is a Australian Shepherd puppy. Considering how high-strung Weimaraners tend to be, that's pretty perfect casting.

Dream-Share Tactical Employment procedures. by darkknightrises -- These are fucking amazing, holy fucking shit.

I Think We're Alone Now by [livejournal.com profile] nami86 -- This is Arthur/Ariadne art and I'm utterly besotted by this artist's style and her attention to detail. There are totems on the nightstand. She almost makes me wish I wrote Arthur/Ariadne, but it's not my thing, just as Arthur/Eames isn't the artist's thing (she's not gonna do it, don't bother asking). But it's always nice to appreciate awesome for the sake of awesome.

Naked Lunch by [livejournal.com profile] jibrailis -- Eames makes a wish; Arthur has to live with the consequences. It's quite the wish.

Everybody's read [livejournal.com profile] gyzym's coffee shop!AU; it's a game changer. It may be the biggest fic in Inception fandom; I'm pretty sure it's the best received and talked about for a reason. I'm not overtly recommending that one (it's obviously warranted, but well past superfluous). I'm recommending We Must Unlearn the Constellations to See The Stars which is Robert Fischer fic. There's some Robert/Saito, but it's not really about that, it's about being who you want to be and not who the world or your parents or society thinks you should. (But I suppose the coffee shop fic is about that, too; it's a thing).

And of course the folder dump wouldn't be complete without this bad ass video from [livejournal.com profile] orlisroses29 featuring Massive Attack's Inertia Creeps. I love Massive Attack. Shocking, I know.

I'll be talking about bone structure and how hot Benedict Cumberbatch would look with wings!

[identity profile] ilovetakahana.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Benedict Cumberbatch! Even my SO was, like, wow, when we saw him in the Sherlock miniseries. Holy crap. Those eyes. I am reduced to flailing incoherently. I cannot wait for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Benedict Cumberbatch + Tom Hardy + Gary Oldman = holy WOW.

[identity profile] serialkarma.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am seriously enjoying the new Sherlock (as you know, er, Bob) but Benedict Cumberbatch is WAY hotter than Sherlock, based on those photos. (I am all right with this, since I, too, kind of like asexual Sherlock. But I am not opposed to stories where he gets it on with John, either.)

I still do not think I could actually speak his name out loud with giggling a LOT.

I need icons. Find me icons, woman!

so freakin' seconded. I had never read any John LeCarre and I started because of the people who were cast in the movie :-)

I approve of these pictures! Most definitely :D

I have a feeling you're going to really like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. :DDD

Those cheekbones! *swoon*

I cannot wait for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Benedict Cumberbatch + Tom Hardy + Gary Oldman = holy WOW.

Wait, sorry, what? When is this happening?

interview: "Benedict was recently described by a tabloid newspaper as having a face like a racehorse"
Omg, that's horrible. What the hell are the british tabloids on these days, their level of retardation is reaching new levels.

Cinema
In June 2008, The Guardian newspaper reported that Peter Morgan and John le Carré were writing a cinematic adaptation of the novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (1974), for Working Title Films and to be directed by Tomas Alfredson, director of Let the Right One In (2008).[2][3] Daily Mail film columnist Baz Bamigboye reported in June 2010 that Gary Oldman is in negotiations with Working Title to play George Smiley.[4] Colin Firth, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Fassbender and Benedict Cumberbatch, as Peter Guillam, have also signed up for the film. [5] As of the 3rd of September, 2010, Tom Hardy has replaced Michael Fassbender, who is unable to do the project as he has just started filming X-Men: First Class.[6]

That cast. And I've heard that THard is going to be one of the definitely good guys. WHOO.

There you go!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I am terribly out of sorts at the moment, so maybe next week I'll have a slew of recs and write lots of things, or maybe I won't. I'm not going to try and guess. I don't think I have the mental acuity to write Sherlock fic the way I'd want it done, but I certainly am enjoying reading it :)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That's my favorite spy novel, so I'm very excited about it.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
BRAIN.

Yeah, I'll just get on that icon thing right now ;-)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Back atcha :)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, hush! Now you're just being mean ;-)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's my favorite spy novel, so I hope so :)

[identity profile] foxxcub.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahaha, so I probably shouldn't spam you with bits of my big bang, then?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
They're no worse than the American tabloids. In fact I'd rather read those than the dross the U.S publications put out.

Eeeeee! So exciting! That sounds like a really excellent cast and I've been meaning to read the book for a while so I guess this is just the motivation!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I am always available to you, but now may not be the best time if you're looking for an enthusiastic and/or nurturing response since most of my reading these days ends (book or fic wise) if you can't get my complete attention in the first one hundred words.

[identity profile] hollyxu.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
OH! Right, feeling stupid right now. (BUT ISN'T THE CAST WONDERFUL?)

[identity profile] yukireizei.livejournal.com 2010-11-04 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Watching the BBC version as I write this, and my god, I love Cumberbatch's Sherlock. Those cheekbones, how I wish I can just. Touch them. A little.

Also, I never knew he makes audiobooks. I've only see this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmNt31Gwf4c - and now I am excited for more. (That 'YES!' at the end <3)

I'd love more Sherlock (recs! fics!) from you and I guess we'll see what happens, eh? :D
