Going back to the dark side
1. It’s World AIDS Day. Get with the program, people.
2. Once upon a time I used to write angst, nothing but, all day all the time. It made me happy. And then one day I had to write SV fluff for![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
evil_man. It was all down hill from there. Don’t get me wrong, there‘s nothing wrong with making people who are doomed happy for a bit, but I think everyone should go back to what they know.

Daylight
The darkness of night hides Ron’s sins. His biggest sin at least. And although calling it a sin isn’t quite right, it isn’t necessarily wrong either. It’s his choice. What Ron’s doing has nothing to do with right and wrong - those are just ideas. The gray area in between should be given more credit. That‘s where Ron‘s motivation lies, and at night, he marks his choice as his own. In the absence of daylight, Ron brands and bites and leaves scratches. At night he’s not ashamed of what he does, of who he’s with.
He’s doing it for the greater good.
Malfoy walks slowly during the day, and sneers at Ron across classrooms and divided loyalties. At night, he belongs to Ron, and Ron abuses him accordingly. He bites Malfoy’s nipples until blood and scaring are a given, and Malfoy screams his name.
At least Ron mastered his Silencing Charm on the first try.
During the day, Ron’s choices are there for everyone to see. When the sun goes up, Ron is a Gryffindor, trusted friend and confidant to Harry Potter, the boy who has no clue where his best mate spends his nights. At night, however, Ron beds a Slytherin. One he hates more than Dark Marks and poverty. At night, Ron’s limbs are sure instead of gangly and his voice is harsh instead of timid.
Not that Ron has ever been timid, but at night things are different.
When the sun sets in a haze of green and gold and pink, Ron doesn’t change as much as he’s set free. He doesn’t have to be anybody’s sixth son or second choice. At night Ron’s freckles stand out against green duvets and dark bedding. He’s pale, but not that pale in comparison to others. Or at least one other. Of course ghosts and poltergeists have more color than Malfoy, and are perhaps more deserving of life.
Malfoy has no light; he’s colorless.
Ron could kill him in an instant and feel nothing, but that’s not Ron’s way. He’s no one’s Death Eater, but he will never mistake this for anything more than fucking for purpose. Ron’s not offering sympathy or empathy or anything that could be construed as a caring feeling. Ron does not care. He only takes - and no one else is the wiser because of who he is. What he is. Weasleys are one of the oldest wizarding families - they‘re not known for being sadistic. So, Ron takes great heart in imagining the look on Lucius Malfoy’s face when he finds out his prodigal is being fucked a Weasley. Ron can, so he does - with every thrust and every scratch that’s just on this side of too hard.
Ron will have revenge for Ginny and secondhand books and dirty looks.
He has the letter all ready to go, and one morning very soon he will send it off.

poor ron. the character least able to handle going Dark, really. i mean, i can see hermione -- ok, no.
ron on the dark side should never be even remotely competent. it's just-- scary. almost as scary as gay!ron. i mean, if harry goes dark, he's just having a tough year. if -ron- goes dark, he's just completely lost his mind. plus there's the inherent draco abuse implied in this. i mean, completely-boneless-spineless!draco.
i mean, it's not that i don't like it, this is just-- so vivid and clear and -obvious- as to why this whole idea is -wrong-, heh.
i've never read a harry/draco fic like that. i like to think that pairings are purely subjective, right. so theoretically, people read harry/draco and it sounds all wrong and twisted to them. and i'd just-- not feel too cozy to anyone to whom ron/draco sounds right, reading this ^^;;
i guess i see angst as positive emotion gone -wrong-, tragedy, sadness, pain. this is just kind of-- remorseless. those weasleys. first ginny, now ron :D ahahah
who would've thought poor arthur weasley would have such progeny ^^

i'd like to take the second part first for two hundred dollars!
first, i don't see any spineless!ron inherent here. yes, ron seems to be having a very dominant day, but because it's only his POV there's no telling what draco's doing to him. draco could have ron dressing up in pink robes and having a tea party. that's the thing about POV it's only one side of the story. second, with regards to dark!ron not being possible, i think that it's as possible for him to go dark as it is for anyone else. it's not a matter of what we see but what someone's capable of given the right incentive and the right circumstances. ron wants to protect ginny, who knows to what lengths he'll go to. he's already shown how devoted he is to harry, if he's half as devoted to his family then i don't think this sort of maliciouness is out of character. JKR leaves so much to imagination where most of her characters are concerned that for all we know ron has a collection of women's nickers in his trunk at school! :)
