(no subject)

Over in her LJ, [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore mentioned being stuck indoors for a blizzard and how she thought it would be a great opportunity to spend some time getting to know some of the new people on my flist. Which I whole-heartedly agree.

So...tell me something about you. Favorite character. Favorite food. Something funny you do. Whatever you like. Just make it something that gives me a sense of who you are.

There's no pressure to participate, of course. If you'd rather just lurk, that's fine, too. But if you feel like coming out of the woodwork, I'd love to hear from you!

I think I do this like once a year and since I'm feeling a bit sour, and this exercise always makes me smile, I'll start...

1. I drink like six glasses of water a day,
2. I still read Smallville stories even though I don't watch the show anymore.
3. I love potatoes.
4. I love turtles; I plan to buy one as soon as I can afford the damn terrarium.
5. I think I would rather be blind than deaf since I can't imagine not listening to music.

*bonus for the new folks
6. I dislike cats. A lot. I'm allergic to them, and believe they are actually evil creatures bent on world domination. As I am also bent on world domination, waiting on [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon to take it over, you can see why this is a problem. <-- gacked and bastardizard from [livejournal.com profile] musesfool

*Please keep in mind that you don't have to participate if you don't want to, and that this isn't about me responding, but you know, about sharing. I know somebody out there must know what that word means.

**ETN: I meant to mention this ages ago, but the LJPTB are reimbursing paid users an additional two weeks of time due to last week's outage or shortage or whatever it's being called. If you pay, use this, and people I've bought account time you better fucking use this for real, I want my money's worth!

I don't like any wet toppings on my ice cream (because they get all mushy and nasty.)

But... but... what about caramel? Melted. Warm. On Fraser. Whoops. Wait, sorry, we weren't talking about that, were we?

I have 18 month old twins

Congratulations. Wow.

3. I'm a full time executive married to a stay-at-home PhD candidate

Um, did I mention the wow yet?

[identity profile] musical-emjay.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
*blushes*

Wow, I wouldn't say prodigy. I'm just very musically inclined. VERY. Piano is my life, and I have loved it from the day I started. I just don't get it when people say how much they dispised taking lessons, because it has meant to much to me and enriched my life to the tenth degree [/maudlin]

And I truly did love Senor Esquador. I made him a little sombrero (sp?) too. He sort of looked like Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street, come to think of it ;D

I used to work in the theater and in cabaret and I still sometimes direct and act. Now I run events - mostly weddings.

Before I just thought you were adorable, but now you are also Fascinating with a capital 'f'. Yis.

4. I date a guy 11 years younger than me. But he's not that exciting.

Rock on, Demi!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I was a scenic painter and stage manager in New York and Scotland after college.

Sweet!

5. I am not freaked out that I just turned 31, though all my friends are freaked out for me.

Happy Belated Birthday!

I was a scenic painter and stage manager in New York and Scotland after college.

I hear that. I am commonly referred to as a really extroverted introvert.

2-Whenever I buy a new cd that I like, I always think I should de-lurk and recommend it to you or something. But I'm too shy.

Don't be shy! Come! Recommend! Please? ::hides 400+ CDs behind back:: I can always use more music.

And while I'm here, you MUST write some Jack-oriented slash. Oh how I would love you...;-p

At first I was like, Jack-who? And then I was all noooooooo, not Jack. He's so borrrrrring. Why does he fawn after Kate; yeah, she's hot but clearly she doesn't want him. Bad Jack, no cookie for playing stupid.

I've practiced folk dancing for the past 15 years.

What sort? I know nothing about folk dancing.

5- I'm studying the liberal arts and I have no idea what's next. It freaks me out a little bit.

Nothing to freak out about; life is next! :)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
1. Excellent
2. This happens to me too -- I think because the kitchen is more relaxed.
3. Those aren't boots; those are sex!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I wouldn't say prodigy. I'm just very musically inclined. VERY.

Yes, well you don't have to say prodigy, I did. I would think that anybody's who's on their third instrument would have to be extraordinarily devoted and feel they are getting something great out of the relationship, so ;) Also, Oscar was totally my favorite. His and his worm!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fascinated by people

Me too. It's why I write. It's my ongoing study and exploration of the human condition.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
4) Money goes through my pockets like hackthis goes through water...maybe faster. And it's ALL spent on Books/Manga/Comics

I mean if you were buying something bad like drugs or hookers, I could see how this is a bad thing, just, you know, don't forget to buy clothes and food on occasion as well.

6) I would rather be mute then deaf or blind because I love music and reading way too much.

Good point.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ahem. OMG you have a Stringer icon!! ::hearts::

I've never traveled outside of North America, but I'm saving my frequent flier miles and should be able to do it next year.

You will have a brilliant time. I think a trip somewhere is one of the best things you can give yourself.

I have random sayings that I use when things just get too quiet (eg. I like cheese! I am a banana!)

<I. I got kicked out of a bar once for being too drunk...despite being the most mild mannered, quiet person you will ever meet.
</i>

I laughed so hard at this I almost cried.

Basically, as a designer, I choose the music that goes different places in shows (generally theatre, but it also applies to movies and TV), create/find sound effects, and am in charge of microphones and amplification. It's really a lot more fun than that sentence just made it sound.

[identity profile] screaming-mimie.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
ya and i'm not sick of him yet.... well, most days.

our fathers have been best friends since kindergarden, were best man at each other's wedding and my dad is even hubby's godfather... it's almost like incest, but legal.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
1. Lyrics or quotes tend to pop into my head in response to most situations.
b. I rarely ever type/say them out loud, for people would think I'm even er...quirkier than I am.

A compatriot! I used to be this way all the time, less so now, but it still springs up on occasion!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:03 am (UTC)(link)

I've always wanted to do something like that for television, but I'm fascinated that you went to school for it. That just seems so impossible cool.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
. I too would rather be blind than deaf, but ever so often it occurs to me that I am neither one and and I'm grateful for it.

Excellent point.

3 I friended you because yours was some of the first HP fic I ever read, and I got freakin excited when i found out you had an LJ. You say you'll never write H/D again, but your H/D rocked my socks off. Just FYI.

You're very sweet, thank you :)

2)I can't sleep when there is complete silence.

Neither can I, I find it eerie. Not that I want a concert going on above my head or anything but a little light traffic and music should always be in the background.

I am a vegetarian, unless, of course, it's a cheeseburger.

*snerk* Indeed.

I first learned what plagarism was when I was 7, and basically rewrote a BabySitter's Club novel for an extra credit creative writing assignment. I changed names and locations, and added a new character, but it was basically the exact same plot. I had no idea I had done anything wrong until my teacher pulled me aside and I learned my new word for the day :). It is the first and only time I have ever actually written fanfic.

Yes, I can see how that would put a crimp on a burgeoning writer.

Re: I'm fascinating, damn it!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid of the dark. Go ahead, laugh, but you just wait until the monster under the bed grabs your ankles! Also, the onlyn place that the bad monsters of the dark can't touch you is in your bed.

*laughs* Do you leap onto the bed as well?

[identity profile] freedomfry.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
*looks shifty*
*hides tax information*

No, the husband's job took us up to exotic Canadastan. We'll be here for a couple years. The unemployed Dems who will be crashing on our couch are just coincidental.

[identity profile] mydorkside.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"International"
Québécoise of course ('cause that's where I am) and a lot of Mexican, just because; also, pretty much from any country in Europe (Western and Eastern) and from many countries in latin America.

Yeah, that's what I tell myself... thanks :)

[identity profile] rikkrp.livejournal.com 2005-01-25 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
it sounds far more glamorous than it is... but you should go here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/rikkrp/150924.html

because of the cute.

and I'm *WOW* in awe of your talent.

seriously. I mean I was 7, I was like scarred. I didn't write for a long time after that for fear of "stealing a story" again, and I was afraid for like months afterwards that Ann M. Martin and a police force was going to somehow find my story and then bust into my house C.O.P.s-style and throw me in jail. Seriously, who tells a kid that they illegaly stole a story idea and could get in serious trouble for it? Explain the concept, but don't give fire and brimstone. The teacher probably kicked puppies in her spare time...
*drags personal rant out of your journal*
er, so yeah, how about them gay boys?

Yeah, I'd trade my guy for Ashton Kutcher, too.

Fascinating Shay
