Oh, you give a fuckin' asprin a headache.

I've had caffeine. I'm a bit manic. Please remove all ankle-bitters, coffin-dodgers and easily offended people from the immediate vicinity. Right.

a) I know things are bad when I've been reduced to reading H/D for my reading stimulation. What the fuck, people?! Hook me up! Where are the reccs and the porn and the stories?! I admit I was out of circulation for a while cos I was otherwise occupied, but damn! What's a girl gotta do to get you people to write some shit? [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon and I are firm advocates of the If You Want to See it, Write it Your Damn Self School but I can't generate that much. I'll be writing myself obviously once my brain comes back on line and my finger's healed, but still, c'mon. Shit. I get my inspiration from you lot and you're not being very inspiring right now.

2) Go read [livejournal.com profile] pandarus Cairo Sunset. It's Bill/Severus with Severus/Lucius and post-war business and you know you want to, because you know and I know that [livejournal.com profile] pandarus' writing is the shit. Don't fake and pretend you don't want to read it either. I know you people!

3) After many moons and much difficulty, I finally have seen Layer Cake. Sweet Jesus almighty, I need to have Daniel Craig's babies. All of them. A hot man, with crazy blue eyes and a body to lick for days doing the gangster as James Bond thing without being all over the top. His body was like... there are no words. The hottest most amazingly built thing that I've seen in ages (cars included!) And the clothes. Oh my god, the clothes! Ozwald! Tom! His bum in those jeans! It was like one long orgasm. It was like watching Trade! Except with drugs instead of brothels, and no gay sex, but still. Violence! And clothes! And mad anxiety! It was like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels but better, unless you didn't like Lock, Stock in which case whatever, don't talk to me. Anyroad, Daniel Craig is too hot to be James Bond (he's rumoured to be the new 007). The screen would melt. Seriously, run, go, scarper and see this either at the cinema or on DVD.* Matthew Vaughn you are almost forgiven for your asshat casting.

It had Sienna Miller too, sadly, but nothing is perfect, and she was hardly a blip. Thank the gods.

Daniel Craig is a god!! I have been obsessed over him for ages lol.. He was soo gorgeous in layer cake *drools and swoons off in a trance*

Just thought I'd say that;)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew it would be be brilliant. I knew he would be good as I've seen him in lots of things -- but I really wasn't that sort of intense charisma. People always say 'so-and-so was electric' and I think it's toss, but uh, yeah, not anymore. I need an icon.

[identity profile] circe-tigana.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I just saw a picture of Daniel Craig in Empire for the first time yesterday, and I thought he looked like that guy from Due South you guys love.

I'm sure I'll be flogged for saying this, but after having the DC experience in Layer Cake, I can honestly say that I would rather have Daniel Craig any day of the week. Circe, when you first see him, he's wearing these jeans and this wicked pin-stripe three-button suit jacket with the shirt unbuttoned at the collar and I fucking swooned. Blaise did too. Hell, so did Draco. His body -- it's like, like [insert incoherant rambling here] and his arms. Sweet Christ on the cross.

[identity profile] circe-tigana.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy moly. Clearly I must see this Layer Cake.
::watches Blaise swoon with interest::

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I want icons desperately but the stills just don't do him justice (http://www.bluematia.com/layer_cake.htm) at all. I was mentioning above that I always think that 's/he's electric' comment is utter rubbish, but Circe, he's just fucking electric. I spent the entire film engrossed -- when I wasn't trying to keep from clawing at the screen. The voice, the body, the clothes. *weeps*

[identity profile] circe-tigana.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
::holds you::

That sounds AWESOME. I love when actors transcend their medium and grab you by the fucking throat. Mmmm charisma.

So who will he be cast as in the Z-verse then? :)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
So who will he be cast as in the Z-verse then? :)

*blinks* You know, I don't know. He's just -- he's not a pretty boy, he's not even a pretty man, but he's just so magnetic. He reminds me of Clive in a way.

[identity profile] circe-tigana.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
He seems to me he'd be an unknown factor. Like, with no alliances. Which would make him very dangerous.

0.o

He was so damn magnetic in Sylvia, I spent the whole movie cheering him on. Not exactly appropriate for the movie, but oh well. Did you see Enduring Love? In that movie he made me swoon.

[identity profile] literaryll.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude I will try and rec you something - what do you feel like reading? What do you like?

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I like lots of things [grins evilly]

HP, dS, The OC, O11, Alias, SV, Lost, Spooks/MI-5... I've been attracted to all of these at one time or another. I tend to prefer realism and minimalism over grand sentiment and fluff. I like angst. I don't like non-con or gratuitous stupidity. I don't like sappiness. I like reserve. You can say a lot without saying a lot. I'm not big on huge novels, which is what makes Trade such an anomaly. I love slash and gen, but am extraordinarily picky over het.

[identity profile] literaryll.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm . . . okay well the only fandom I know much about is HP so thats what you get lol

Home is the Place Where (http://www.livejournal.com/community/genfic_hogwarts/32009.html?view=57609#t57609) by [livejournal.com profile] moireach and Carry Me Home (http://theguestroom.houseofhobbits.com/hp/Carrymehome.html) by [livejournal.com profile] mirabellawotr - both lovely dark gen fics about Harry and Petunia

How do you feel about incest? Keepsake (http://papermoon.velveteen.net/keepsake.html) by [livejournal.com profile] cursescar - It's Draco/Lucius precest and if incest isn't really your thing you can squint and ignore the hints that are there. I kept getting reminded of this story while I was reading Trade because in it Lucius is obsessed with clothing Draco so in the back of my mind your Draco's interest in fashion was mutated from this even though it doesn't fit cause Lucius is gone ;)

I'm a big fan of [livejournal.com profile] cursescar so two other fics by her that I loved - Noblesse Oblige (http://papermoon.velveteen.net/noblesseoblige.html) which is Draco/Krum and Eight Days a Week (http://papermoon.velveteen.net/eightdaysaweek.html) which is Draco/Arthur but really more like gen

More Draco because he is the best - Zen Taxi (http://icarus.slashcity.net/stories/zentaxi.html) by [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion - Percy/Draco - masturbating in a cab yum

I'm pretty sure that you don't like Harry much lol and you said you're not a big fan of novels but I have to rec this cause you also said you like minimalism and reserve -

Tao of Job (http://home.earthlink.net/~percyfest/fic/job01.html) by [livejournal.com profile] mad_maudlin - Percy/Harry and if you don't like Percy don't run away cause I didn't like him much before I read this either. It's not terribly long - only about 50 pages or so and all the great stuff is going on between the lines and it's pretty angsty so you might dig it. I know I did.

Oh and I read Scottish Castles (http://www.livejournal.com/users/pauraque/188787.html) by [livejournal.com profile] pauraque the other day and got a kick out of it - short HP SV gen crossover

Hope you find something you like :D

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not really into incest, but I quite like the Petunia stories. I am currently reading the Krum one and shall move on to the Percy ones soon. As for the Harry thing, it's not that I don't like him inasmuch as I don't tend to like the way he's always depicted as being better than everyone else or above triviality and such. He's as much of a snot-nose brat as Draco, but no one ever calls him on it. Hermione though, no, her I just don't like full stop.

[identity profile] literaryll.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
He's as much of a snot-nose brat as Draco - YES! He is a little brat and I get pretty annoyed with him being portrayed as this saint all the time too. Especially with H/D where people write him like he's Draco's saviour or something - all kind and compassionate. Ugh. He's self-pitying, reckless, stubborn, and throws temper tantrums and I love him that way. He's definitely flawed and bratty in Tao of Job so yeah read that.

her I just don't like full stop - LOL she can be hard to take

I'm glad that you liked the Petunia ones :)

I saw Layer Cake in a preview showing and raved about it here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/shayheyred/69146.html?nc=2). I thought both the movie and Daniel Craig were fantastic, and now I am on a one-woman quest to see more of him.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen lots of his work, and while I've always thought he was good at what he did, he never quite grabbed me until this film. He *was* this film, I loved all the other actors, I'm big fan of George Harris (Morty) and Colm Meany (Gene) and obviously Michael Gambon, but Daniel Craig was just mesmerising.

[identity profile] phaballa.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
These recs will be a bit old but hopefully you won't have read them. And also, I have no idea what you like. So it's pretty much a crap shoot :)

The Chosen (http://www.livejournal.com/users/allecto/421688.html) by [livejournal.com profile] allecto: I niffled this fic last term. It's amazing. Crabbe/Harry, but don't let the pairing freak you out. Summary: Vincent learned that at an early age, learned that numbers were the only things that didn't lie. Mothers lied, and fathers home from Azkaban, they lied a lot, and friends certainly lied. Numbers, though. Numbers never called him names, or sold him out to tall, cold men. Numbers were exactly what they claimed to be, and rather than manipulate him, Vincent could manipulate them. Numbers were cold, hard fact.

Full Circle (http://www.livejournal.com/users/xylodemon/224446.html?#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] xylodemon: Harry/Draco, Draco/Ron, Harry/Draco/Ron/Hermione. Um, yeah. And here's what I said about it: It's probably the hottest thing I've read in months and months including that ridiculously hot Remus/Sirius/Motorbike piece from last week. And it's got a plot too. A very psychological piece with just the right amount of hints at a backstory, characters that are in character and yet J still somehow has me believing that this pairing--er, foursome--could actually work. Also contains the best Ron/Draco scene I've read in a long time, just the right amount of anger-turned-sex to make it seem realistic.

Pretty in Pink (http://www.livejournal.com/community/pornish_pixies/288839.html?#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] anise_anise: H/D. Harry and Draco dress up in frilly girl's night clothes and there is lots of rimming.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-20 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the reccs!

[identity profile] phaballa.livejournal.com 2005-05-20 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem. Hope you enjoy them :)

[identity profile] obsessedmuch.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Better than Lock Stock????

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-19 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Darker humour, older men, but remember Matthew Vaughn produced Lock, Stock. It's the same sensibility, but not. This is about the consequences of your actions versus the just not getting caught.

[identity profile] obsessedmuch.livejournal.com 2005-05-20 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Must see. Oh yes, precious. Must see.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-20 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yis! How is the birthday girl doing? Are we having a happy day?!

Have you read Home is the Place Where (http://narrowstreets.net/fic/home.html) by Kyra Cullinan?

My favorite HP gen fic at the moment. Summary: Petunia and Harry at the end of the world.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2005-05-20 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I have read that, and it's completely fantastic. :)

pwp or full length? Kink or no? Wip or no? You want recs? i got your recs.

pwp or full length? Kink or no? Wip or no? You want recs? i got your recs.

Pwp or full length. Nothing over ten chapters though, that's just too much. Kink is fine, no golden showers or non-con. No WIPs. Slytherins adored. Hermione refused.

And as mentioned above: HP, dS, The OC, O11, Alias, SV, Lost, Spooks/MI-5... I've been attracted to all of these at one time or another. I tend to prefer realism and minimalism over grand sentiment and fluff. I like angst. I don't like non-con or gratuitous stupidity. I don't like sappiness. I like reserve. Hmmm...that does narrow it down a bit. There's http://www.livejournal.com/users/_hannelore/29874.html that, which is a loverly gen fic on neville called a thousand wishes. (the link function is NOT working!)
http://restrictedsection.org/file.php?file=1149 A season in Hell, and it's sequel http://restrictedsection.org/file.php?file=119 After the Flood.

You must see The Mother. Half naked just about the entire time. The movie's pretty much about how gorgeous he is. So lovely seeing the Daniel Craig love spread.
