I feel vaguely displeased with almost everything today.

[Poll #980313]

ETA: Apparently I am oppressing you, because the poll is in radio buttons, so vote for what you want most and then talk about anything else in the comments -- okay [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma?

Also, step away from the coffee pot.

Leaving Things Unsaid is a Nathan/Peter fan vid by [livejournal.com profile] kimochi and I don't know if I'm a bit emotional today or something, but I just kept thinking, *sniff* WOOBIES! Theirloveissofuckedupandwrong! Shut up, the lot of you. The past few weeks of Heroes has been very fucking traumatic for me -- in that awesome, here, slap me around some more way.

Speaking of slapping people around:

Dear [livejournal.com profile] barely_bean, [livejournal.com profile] linaerys, [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 -- having now seen six of the eight Profit episodes I can safely say, uh, WHERE CAN I GET ME ONE OF THOSE? It's so wrong, but so deliciously right, you can totally see how much fun Adrian had with that role, especially in Sykes there are these moments when he's just got these little mannerisms -- I want to lick Jim Profit in all his bad 80s-replicated suits. Also, um, so, Gail/Profit all the way, yes? YES. Definitely. It's not even a sexual relationship as much as it's this sort of learning how to trust someone who is clearly off their nut, but still has your back. Yes, awesomeness. DAMN YOU FOX, YET AGAIN!

Wednesday will be my five year El Jay anniversary and I'd totally planned to post a story on that day, except that I've forgotten how to write, yet again. Doesn't it figure I'd get performance anxiety now. This never happens when I'm having sex in public! Just saying.

Is it time for The Petrelli Show yet?

Plus, he unstraightens his tie first so she can straighten it, because he knows that makes her feel closer to him. It's manipulative, but it makes her happy.

He challenges her in some ways, but he's gentle with her in other ways. I know it's just because he needs a trustworthy ally, but it is still kind of cute.

So, that would be a yes on Enforcer!Peter then I take it.

she has this moment of 'WTF!' and then is like "Okay, fine, whatever."

That was great! And I love that moment when she hits the guy over the head with the phone(?). It was such a go-Gail moment. For all that he leads her into eeeevil, I think over all, Profit is good for her development as a confident, autonomous person.

Dude, who DOESN'T want Jim Profit? I could sit and pet him all day, if I didn't think that he'd bite, and sometimes I wouldn't even mind.

Actually, whoever gave me the SPN prompt is probably horrified, because the events of his life fit SO well into that paradigm AND make him even more sympathetic when viewed through that light.

I'm so relieved not to be the only one who thinks Mohinder is dumb as a box of rocks. Because he IS. [livejournal.com profile] jamoche and I are always yelling at him when we watch the show to stop being so fucking stupid. But all these people on my flist believe he's smart. And I don't GET it.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I whole-heartedly agree. I think everybody could stand to take lessons at the Jim Profit School of Autonomy and Kicking Ass. I, myself, will be signed up for the deluxe premium package, which not only comes with weekly lessons and personal time with the owner, but also requires six month evaluations to see how you're progressing.

I just want to see Peter in emo-forcer enforcer mode, regardless of whether it's rated PG or NC17, because I want to see just what he would do to Keep Nathan Happy (not that way. well, maybe that way.).

[identity profile] linaerys.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
He's only smart if you know nothing about science, people, or thinking logically. I worry that the Heroes writers actually think he is smart, which is one of the many reasons that I don't really trust the them, although I do love them sometimes for rolling with the BroYay that Milo and Adrian brought.

I love Gail, but she always maps to me as Jim's good mother. We know who his bad one is. And the good mother doesn't fuck her baby. So I have him do other people, but Gail is his mama. And there is a lot of subtext, but nobody acts on it.

I actually think he has feelings. Just not the same ones everybody else has. I don't think he's a true cold sociopath, I think he's abused and weird and twisted. He loves Gail, and she loves him, and each of them thinks they're the other person's parent/teacher/whatever figure.

I also think he has a kind of morality. The whole Chinese Box scenario, he definitely thought that in the end everyone would get what they deserved. It's not moral like our adult morality, it's a child's morality, where punishments are all out of proportion, because little kids love justice but haven't lived enough to understand the need for mercy.

He's such a hurt little boy inside.

Oh G-d I could meta about JP for hours. It's the next best thing to curling up with him and petting him, which I can't do because he's Not Real.

How do you get that plan? Will you fax/scan the brochure so I can sign up too?

Of course that way. Who do you think you are trying to fool here?

Have you seen Profit yet? OMG ADRIAN. And you need to, so you can understand my Profit-SPN fic.

ahahahaha, see, that would be my problem, I'm an administrative assistant at a research hospital, which means I automatically know 10x what Mohinder knows about all those things.

I'm afraid that the writers think he is smart, too. This totally horrifies me, but I can forgive much in the interest of BroYay.

[identity profile] linaerys.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, we should take this off [livejournal.com profile] hackthis's LJ and move it over to [livejournal.com profile] boxofwrong. Want to start (& pimp) a topic over there?

I love your view of this, and I never thought about this child's morality thing before, but it makes a lot of sense. He only gets punished for what he gets caught doing, so he doesn't have to feel badly about it unless he does get caught and can't weasel out if it. And if he does get caught he'll feel badly about getting caught, not what he did.

And he metes out punishment, as you said, because life should be fair. At least to other people.

Is it on yet?

How about now?

i apologise for the impolite option i chose in the poll, but heck, you wrote it! :-D

erm, I still <3 your Telegraph Avenue stuff, so I would LOVE to read a lil Ryan/Seth from you!

I have to vote for sex in the oval, but I'm coming around on Mohinder/Sylar, too, and there CAN NEVER BE ENOUGH Tim and Landry. *nod*

Be sure to say the fair thing. I have thoughts on that too.

I'd be a little sad for you if you couldn't keep track of that. My life is much more complicated, you see. (Gods help me, AND I might be buying a house WHAT?)

HEE! Well, it does have a certain appeal. And Lloyd singing "Karma Chameleon".

[identity profile] arby-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG didn't you think that Adrian gave his Sylar-as-Nathan a certain Profit-esque quality? I thought some of his lines could have come straight from Profit.

[identity profile] kelly-girl.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Enforcer!Peter would be insanely loyal to Nathan. Loyal and dedicated and they'd do things in that Oval office that would have us blushing. Blushing!

Seriously I love notquitesane! Peter which I think he showed us a little of in 'Five years gone' or maybe that was just 'I came hear to kick ass and chew bubblegum and that bubblegum is gone' Peter.

[identity profile] arby-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
And yes, Profit is the best. Can you believe how far ahead of its time it was? Nevermind that the production values are from the 80's. It might have had a chance if it were aired now - and not on Fox.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, darling, that's very sweet, but that ship sailed, like, a very long time ago.

I miss FNL. I feel like it's been gone for years. How is it only May?
