I feel vaguely displeased with almost everything today.

[Poll #980313]

ETA: Apparently I am oppressing you, because the poll is in radio buttons, so vote for what you want most and then talk about anything else in the comments -- okay [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma?

Also, step away from the coffee pot.

Leaving Things Unsaid is a Nathan/Peter fan vid by [livejournal.com profile] kimochi and I don't know if I'm a bit emotional today or something, but I just kept thinking, *sniff* WOOBIES! Theirloveissofuckedupandwrong! Shut up, the lot of you. The past few weeks of Heroes has been very fucking traumatic for me -- in that awesome, here, slap me around some more way.

Speaking of slapping people around:

Dear [livejournal.com profile] barely_bean, [livejournal.com profile] linaerys, [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 -- having now seen six of the eight Profit episodes I can safely say, uh, WHERE CAN I GET ME ONE OF THOSE? It's so wrong, but so deliciously right, you can totally see how much fun Adrian had with that role, especially in Sykes there are these moments when he's just got these little mannerisms -- I want to lick Jim Profit in all his bad 80s-replicated suits. Also, um, so, Gail/Profit all the way, yes? YES. Definitely. It's not even a sexual relationship as much as it's this sort of learning how to trust someone who is clearly off their nut, but still has your back. Yes, awesomeness. DAMN YOU FOX, YET AGAIN!

Wednesday will be my five year El Jay anniversary and I'd totally planned to post a story on that day, except that I've forgotten how to write, yet again. Doesn't it figure I'd get performance anxiety now. This never happens when I'm having sex in public! Just saying.

Is it time for The Petrelli Show yet?

You're totally right! I never thought about it that way.

and a slightly maternal feeling toward him,
I was just watching the first two episodes again and I love when Gail straightens his tie before he goes to a meeting. It's such a cute moment and it sort of signals the beginning of them functioning as an actual team.

Plus, he unstraightens his tie first so she can straighten it, because he knows that makes her feel closer to him. It's manipulative, but it makes her happy.

He challenges her in some ways, but he's gentle with her in other ways. I know it's just because he needs a trustworthy ally, but it is still kind of cute.

I love Gail, but she always maps to me as Jim's good mother. We know who his bad one is. And the good mother doesn't fuck her baby. So I have him do other people, but Gail is his mama. And there is a lot of subtext, but nobody acts on it.

I actually think he has feelings. Just not the same ones everybody else has. I don't think he's a true cold sociopath, I think he's abused and weird and twisted. He loves Gail, and she loves him, and each of them thinks they're the other person's parent/teacher/whatever figure.

I also think he has a kind of morality. The whole Chinese Box scenario, he definitely thought that in the end everyone would get what they deserved. It's not moral like our adult morality, it's a child's morality, where punishments are all out of proportion, because little kids love justice but haven't lived enough to understand the need for mercy.

He's such a hurt little boy inside.

Oh G-d I could meta about JP for hours. It's the next best thing to curling up with him and petting him, which I can't do because he's Not Real.

Hmmm, we should take this off [livejournal.com profile] hackthis's LJ and move it over to [livejournal.com profile] boxofwrong. Want to start (& pimp) a topic over there?

I love your view of this, and I never thought about this child's morality thing before, but it makes a lot of sense. He only gets punished for what he gets caught doing, so he doesn't have to feel badly about it unless he does get caught and can't weasel out if it. And if he does get caught he'll feel badly about getting caught, not what he did.

And he metes out punishment, as you said, because life should be fair. At least to other people.
cleverthylacine: Nathan Petrelli feels evil and so do I (nathan needs to choke a bitch now)

That sounds like a great idea.

Be sure to say the fair thing. I have thoughts on that too.
