Neville, how could you do me like this?

In what may be one of the most traumatic episodes EVER, last week I plugged in my iPod to charge the battery and it blue screened my computer. And then, when the computer rebooted and iTunes came back up, my pod started syncing up, only instead of syncing up, it synced down and proceeded to wipe itself clean. Yeah, you read that right. Two years, five computers and 5000 songs worth of work are all gone. And of course the Apple Geniuses were of no help, they basically said, "Yeah, your music is gone, no we don't know why, but your pod seems fine."

And it's not just the music -- although that REALLY smarts -- if you have a pod you know the time you take with it. You put in artwork and you make sure things are spelled right and capitalized and you create your own genres and playlists and you hug it and love it and call it George!

*sigh*

Like I said, there aren't any words, but if you've gotten music from me in oh, like EVER, or you have anything you think I'd like, I am asking you to help me out and put it in this post. Pop, rock, classical, old skool hip-hop, new wave, old wave, old classics, country, motown, jazz, blues, drinking songs, live songs, 420 songs, grunge, rap, comedy, britrock, britpop, kids songs, christmas songs, working out songs, 80s, 90s, 70s, covers, disco, you name it and chances are I would like it. I thank you in advance. I have to go take a Xanax.

ETA: To make life easier for you giving souls, you should know that I have 300+ CDs waiting to be loaded on my Pod, if I decide it's still trustworthy, so you don't have to give me whole albums of stuff, maybe just a zip with some of your favorite songs, that would totally be awesome too.

Neville most likely does have Theodore's pants. An' he's not giving them back.

For some reason I have 60 of Burt Bacharach's greatest hits on my iTunes right now. I bet you want those, don't you?

I have some nice Portishead though to make up for it. Do you want some nice Portishead and a shitload of Radiohead live B sides?

What else do I have to hand without actually plugging anything in?? *looks*

Err, kind of random but easy to upload albums include Gogol Bordello, The Coral, The Rakes, Bob Marley, Jay-Z, Joss Stone, Jarvis Cocker, The Good, The Bad and the Queen.

Anything appeal?

Raindrops keep falling on my head -- hook me up with that mp3! And some nice portishead and obviously Radiohead live b-sides = YIS PLZ! I dunno what Gogol Bordello is, but it sounds like a bit of cheese. Bob Marley, Jay-Z and Jarvis are always welcome round these parts. I've not heard The Rakes either, plz to try out.

Considering how LJ has been behaving, I get slightly paranoid these days....

[identity profile] amberlynne.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
At least you didn't go with NSuck. I feel like we are progressing nicely. *g*

I have a tonne of British rock stuff that I've recently fallen into, Maximo Park, The Cinematics, etc. Does that sort of thing turn your crank?

Also, I believe upload Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time I posted a while ago (http://amberlynne.livejournal.com/1340461.html) still works.

[identity profile] sparky77.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the most random music collection ever. I'd be happy to upload some when I get home. I can make you a mix: Songs of Crankiness and Misanthropy. I've already got a few songs in mind.

Also, go read Rockstar Peter.

Consider this the first (http://www.sendspace.com/file/evm2z0) of a least a few files. Random and random can be, as per usual.

Oh man, that is so sad. Here's a little Junior Senior to add to your new playlist.

Are you still at the same address? Expect a music care package in the next few weeks.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
What. WHAT WHAT? Rockstar who what?! *dashes off*

That. Really. Sucks.

[identity profile] heidi8.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I am sure others are already 'returning' the lovely Heroes mixes you did earlier this year but let me know if you need them.
I am also happy to provide anything from the Disney Greatest Hits, anything Crowded House/Split Enz, a cappella college groups, Les Miz and various other broadway cast recordings and Brit Pop of the 80s and Early 90s. Also Duran Duran.

Let me know if you want any of that?

[identity profile] obsessedmuch.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh honey... on top of all the rest? Seriously, that is just fucked up.

*hugs* I'm so sorry.

I have so much stuff I wouldn't know where to start! If you can remember anything I might have thrown your way that you liked let me know. I do know I uploaded the Guillemots for you recently. I shall check back to see what I have passed on before.

Good luck with the restoring!

Yea I had to learn about the external hard-drive the hard way too. My PC did that to me. Luckily the damage was minimal because most of my music was (and is now kept) on my laptop.

But I was totally gutted over the stuff I did lose, so have a cyber hug and a "damn, that sucks".

PS - I also name my iPod (he's called Stanley, tho) :-]

Look what I found...

Ok, coming soon.
In the meantime, while I know it is not The Pasdar, you might feel somewhat cheered up if you click here (http://www.mensfitness.com/images/mf/209226/10502.jpg).

I've got a box.net place - here (http://www.box.net/shared/ux8ze67bau#1:8444895), currently has a smattering of rap (Kanye's new album and classics), soul covers of Beatles songs, 7 Regina Spektor songs and just stuff. (Wish You Were Here is Pink Floyd, Scientist is Avril Lavigne covering Coldplay.) Maybe there's something there that would be good? (Sadly, no art, sigh.)

It is here: I am mildly ashamed, but Peter and/or Nathan in eyeliner is way too much of a temptation to resis.

Yes, and yay!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, thank you!
