IT'S REX MANNING DAY!!
So. Today is what day? SOUTHLAND DAY!! And how do we celebrate Southland day?
1)
chicklet_girl wrote wee!Cooper in 'Army Men. You want to read it. Prepare to have your heart broken.
b) Apparently Eminem's Relapse is due to drop any goddamn day. I know one of you has it. Share with the class. Sharing is caring. And maybe worth a drabble of your chosing.

4. I find myself pretty much unable to do the Star Trek fandom thing. I love the new movie. Love the acting. Love the actors. But no, not quite fannish. I thought perhaps this was because what I *really* wanted to do was write Zack Quinto/Chris Pine RPS (which is called 'Pinto,' which as
sparky77 pointed out is a car and not a pairing) but it would seem that all I REALLY want to do is stare at Chris Pine all day. BRING ME YOUR CHRIS PINE PHOTOS. I COMPEL YOU! (For [redacted reasons], I need the diversion). ETA: HE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE BRAD PITT,
serialkarma! That's sacriledge.
f) Once upon a time there was a fantabulous show called Kitchen Confidential, which FOX killed (shocking. I'm still mad about Fastlane bitches!). It had a young man named Owain Yeoman in it. Using his proper Welsh accent. Owain went on to be in what? GENERATION KILL! Yeah, that's right, it's always about GK or Southland at this point. Anyroad. Owain has now got a role on The Mentalist (which I don't watch, because I consider it a Psych rip-off). HOWEVER. Owain has evolved and apparently now looks like this . Uhhhhhhhhhhh. I'd hit that. Thanks to
maurheti and
alethialia for the link

I dunno. There's this *thing* about him: he's just so resolutely strong and manly, without being an asshole – okay, he kind of is, but you know why he is the way he is, and it makes *sense*. He's honest without being placating, and he's not pretty, or even attractive to be honest, but the way he carries himself is like... it's *perfect*. He's confident without being arrogant. He's kind of broken, but not irreparably so. He's smart, but he's clearly earned his smarts, and he's so very real. You feel like he could protect you if shit went wrong, but at the end of the day you could look after him and it would all be okay. And who doesn't want that?

Also, I think that that's the most perfect Cooper-love Manifesto that could be created.

Not that that's relevant. I just wanted to say that there's something about Cooper that gets to me so bad. I haven't quite put a finger on it yet but I would definitely, definitely hit that.

Yeah, you and everybody else, get in the queue.

You made it through Buffy Fandom and the horror of SPANDER and are still able to find "Pinto" bizarre???
Oh, Z... *loves*
PS - Pine is just not supposed to be that hot, ok? I'm just sayin' is all...

Ahem. I mean thank you very much.

Even just the thought makes me a little faint.
The show is SUCH a Psych rip-off, only with more Tragic Past/manpain-ness to it. Also, it has Owain. With the wet and the naked and the hosing himself off, so ya know.
Those GK boys, man. Cover 'em in dirt and blood, drape them in fatigues, give 'em Hitler-staches and you think, 'eh, their heroism makes them pretty*.' Clean 'em, shave 'em, and wet them down and it's like, OMG, HOT LIKE FIRE!
I approve of this.
*'Cept for Nate, obviously. There's no amount of dirt that can make him not pretty. It's his cross to bear.

I tried to get you to watch KC, you were all no, I don't do half-hours. I'm just saying.
Also, I would like to try this mud test on Nate. Just saying. My own prurient what? I don't know what you're referring to.

Also, I watch the Mentalist AND Psych, mostly because they feel different enough for me - mostly comedic vs. mostly serious. Also, Rigsby and Van Pelt. I rarely ship het, but this is one of those exceptions. Way to go, Owain.

I have found that all roads lead back to GK. I met a boy the other day and the second thing that he told me about himself is that he's Swedish and I will freely admit that's what got him the first five minutes of my time. He sold himself well enough in those five minutes to buy himself more, but, yep, the first five minutes were all about dreams of ASkars.
Love your numbering. Your Thursday is clearly as fun as mine!
no subject
The numbering is an ode to Due South.
no subject
I thought that until I had the first few eps forced on me. Now I will admit, it's really, really fun and pretty much nothing at all like psych. Also Owain as Rigsby is fucking awesome, and The Mentalist will fill you with all sorts of unholy ideas of all the *things* that you can do to people's brains. For serious. You should give it a try, I promise it's not as bad as you think it is.
c. A small hint at my 'Why I Love John Cooper' manifesto
Don't worry! We figured that out earlier.

That is not incentive, believe me.
Cooper though, Cooper is incentive.

That manifesto needs to become a cross-stitch sampler. And I'm just NOT the person to do it.
BRING ME YOUR CHRIS PINE PHOTOS. I COMPEL YOU!
Fresh from Jezebel, wearing my late grandfather's glasses. I'm only semi-ashamed to admit my wearing-his-chunky-I.D.-bracelet-because-we're-going-steady fantasy.
Sigh. I'm gonna end up netflixing Princess Diaries 2, aren't I? My life, it is tragic.

2) Star Trek. I don't like Zachary Quinto. I liked him as Sasan, Tori Spelling's gay best friend but Heroes totally turned me off him. Forever. I'm watching the movie for John Cho, Karl Urban, Eric Bana (despite the unfortunate facial tattoos), Simon Pegg and especially Chris Pine. He can wear undies and do some weird undulating sex dance with me anytime. Oh did you know, he played gay in some movie with Tom Everett Scott (OMG, everything goes back to Southland!)?
3) The Mentalist. It's better than just a Psych rip-off, IMO. For one thing, there's Owain, there's Simon Baker and there's the kick awesome. no-nonsense Kimball Cho played by Tim Kang and his awesome biceps.

SO does not look like Brad Pitt.
And I am SO with you on the Chris Pine crush. His prettiness totally blindsided me out of nowhere. And looking at his IMDB page, I've actually seen one of his previous terrible movies. *koffPrincessDiaries2koff* He's almost unrecognizable as a brunet and with that blow-out. I like the short, buzzed cut much more. Like so.

Certainly a few Psych similarities but with an underlying gravitas that Psych lacks. This does not keep it from being amusing or the characters from being adorable though.(personally I'm crazy in love with Kimball Cho(Tim Kang)
