Three birds, one stone.

I know a lot of people are suffering to no end because of the inclement weather and for that I am sorry. I know people are probably stranded with cabin fever, maybe even without power (in which case, um, damn, son). But as bad as that is the people of Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation have been without power or water or heat for nearly two weeks. No, that's no typo.

I know people have been emptying their pockets for [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti, which just goes to show the power of fandom, but if anybody's got a few dollars left that that they might want to throw this way for Emergency Assistance (or here via Piryx) to help these people or could even just pass the message on to people that might be able to help that would just be amazing.

It will never cease to baffle me as to why people feel the need to read and comment on stories they clearly don't like. Is your 'back' button broken? Do you really think your rudeness is so invaluable? Why would you say 'I didn't really like this story, I don't think you're a really good writer, but whatever, I read it.' Or better yet, "Everybody said this was good, but I just don't agree." I just... what?

Can someone tell me where manners went to die, becuse I'd like to put flowers on their grave?

In less irritating news, since I missed this when it was going on, I'm doing it today:

Today has been declared lurker amnesty day (by me!) Have you read me but never commented? Do you surf by occasionally? Here for the ficinsanity? Say hello! You are under no obligation to ever comment or delurk again, but here's a chance to do so in a post just for that.

Oh, and since this is my all-inclusive post, anybody have the new Sade, Corrine Bailey Rae or Massive Attack albums to share? SCORE! Thanks [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie and [livejournal.com profile] jcase!

Cabin fever. Bored. I almost broke myself removing snow off sidewalk and car. Only to have it build up again.

I love Sade new song, Soldier of Love.

Wow, I see a link up there for Sade. But you know what, I need to give Sade some love (in the pocketbook.)

Hi! *waves*

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, if I spent my time addressing every injustice I came across, I'd never sleep ever again. Nevertheless, I'm glad you could donate. Thanks!

Oh, I have every intention of buying both Sade and Corinne's albums; this is just to tide me over. Plus, CD's sound far better than mp3s. Then again, vinyl sounds better than both.

I just happened to surf by and I feel like we may share some common interests and/or activities. Will you be my friend? Check yes or no.

I can't even remember which fic of yours it was that I first read, but I have a sneaking suspicion it might have been swimslash? But you and you alone got me into Generation Kill and Southland. I am catching up on the latter now on TNT and loving it. And at this point, I think I'd watch or read just about anything you pimped.

(Btw, did you recognize Ferrari guy, the rich kid, from the first episode (and that one with Tom Sizemore) as Oliver from The OC? Just in case you wanted more fuel for OC/Southland crossovers.)

Better here than on the highway, I always say.
Wow. Okay, please tell me if you are speaking from experience, here. And if so, what the heck were the circumstances?

I was linked here I think for the awesome GK fic and recs but I stayed because your entries are usually elicit a mix of humour and 'huh' out of me. Keep up the wonderful writing!

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
HAI. I will be your friend. I feel like we could create awesome crack together. At least that's what Ray told me last night at the bar.

a. thank you for the link.

c./3. Hi there! I don't comment much. I can't remember any more what made me start reading your journal – it was either your Southland fic or [livejournal.com profile] serialkarma mentioning you over margaritas, but regardless, I owe you for getting me into Generation Kill, so thank you for that. :)

Sorry to thread-jump, but I just can't pass up a fellow Texan, especially a salsa lover (I'm personally a fan of D.L. Jardines' habanero salsa, because I like it hot). If you're ever in Austin, do make sure to go to Chuy's and try the creamy jalapeno. :)

Hello,

I come back and read your GK stuff all the time because it's astoundingly brilliant, and you bring the best Broken!Brad ever. (Hi alliteration who let you in here.) I'm particularly fond of, um, everything? Seriously I just tried to go back through the GK tag to pick my top three and spent four hours to re-reading. Not that I would consider that anything but a great use of time. This is why I don't comment, I sound like a creepy stalker loon, and completely fail to make sense. The transformers-AU is perfectly executed, and the multiple stories you've set in the post-cannon are spectacular, and I get stuck between calling "It May Be Heart and Fist and Human Voice" or"Caelum non animum mutant qui trans mare currunt" my favourite love story ever, in fan or pro writing. And then I have to go back and read "Sir, Not to Get Homoerotic About This..." for the sheer power of the last scene.

Also, your enthusiasm got me watching Southland, and now I'm pissed off because even with the ultimate digital cable package currently in the household, we have no access to TNT, so I'm going to have to download the new stuff instead of watch it properly, and that sucks, 'cause it's a show I'd be willing to watch with the adds to support. It doesn't hurt that your fic for that series is some of the hottest stuff I've ever read.

Probably I will go back to not talking after this, because by the time I'm finished reading your work I tend to think all the good words have been used and I don't have a clapping-hands gif I can post. But since the amnesty is here it seemed a good time to join the chorus of voices proclaiming that you're awesome. 'Cause the chorus is right, and you are.

Can someone tell me where manners went to die, becuse I'd like to put flowers on their grave?

The body of manners was never found, and so there is no grave. However, some people do maintain memorials tucked politely out of the way. Unfortunately these tend to be vandalized on a regular basis.

I came across your journal when I was bingeing on Merlin fic last year. Then you got me hooked on Southland, and then I cracked and watched Generation Kill this summer after hearing you gush. I've been an avid reader/lurker ever since. I comment sporadically only because I'm a complete space case. It's definitely not for lack of appreciation. Your writing is fantastic and amazing. Every story just sucks me right in and you make AUs that should not work for Generation Kill not only work, but seem completely believable and AWESOME.

In short: You Rock.

Delurking to say thanks for the heads up! I donated what I could and I'm really appalled that I (like many others) had NO idea that this happened and that next to nothing was being done to help thousands of citizens in our OWN COUNTRY. Obviously Haiti still needs our help too, but we don't always have to look that far from home to find people in need. This also brings the Snowpocalypse I'm in the middle of into perspective.

Anywho, I'm also here for fic :) You single-handedly got me into both GK and Southland, so thank you for that.

[identity profile] doortje.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
uh, Hi, yet another delurker. I just want to say thanks for all the awesome fic and getting me onto GK and Southland.

[identity profile] romancandles.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Do I qualify as a lurker these days? It's because I haven't seen Southland or Generation Kill! I'm like "Oh shit, need to catch up," but then I get sidetracked by my shitty USA and TNT shows. Anyway, HI!

[identity profile] reina-shine.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! I love your fics. Since English is not my first language, it's a little bit difficult to express my feeling about your awesome fics. But... Yep, I should've let you know how much I love stories that you wrote. Thanks for all your fic and GK stuff. You're such a great writer. :)

[identity profile] londondrowning.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, that is the first most annoying kind of feedback. The second most annoying kind is "Wow, I really hate this character/this pairing/this fandom, but this was still really good!" Um, well, obviously I really like this character/pairing/fandom, why are you all up in my business assaulting my taste? If you don't like a friggin' story, just don't comment, holy jeez.

[identity profile] asmallbluedot.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Delurking is one of my slightly-late-only-myself-knows New Years resolution, so this seems like a good time to get started. So, hello! I may have commented at some point, but if so it was a long time ago. I've been reading your lj for years, I think. Looking back, I want to say that I first came here to read your OC fics? But I've definitely been most influenced by your HP stories, specifically in the way you've made me care about so many characters who were previously only offhand references. I haven't seen GK or Southland, but you definitely make me want to...

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
My lawyer has advised me not to answer than question, I told him to stow it.

Okay, seriously, no, I haven't done it, but I have to tried to get on a moving truck. And a bus. Oh, wait, no, yes I have. Wasn't going very fast, but it's hard on the ankles.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Swimslash! I had no idea people were so into that; I had a lot of fun with it I have to confess. And yes, I did recognize Oliver in the pilot of Southland, nasty dye job and all :)

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ari loves you, too!
