So. Inception. (That's the third time in three days I've started a post like that). This is clearly SRS BZNSS. Anyway, some fine upstanding AWESOME people made a tumblr for Inception, entitled whatelse but Fuck Yeah, Inception.

I, well, cannibalized it to bring you this post which has so much goddamn fucking hotness my computer is about to suffer meltdown. Seriously. If this does not entice you to watch the movie. Most of the stuff on FYI is reblogged from the OP, who should be listed as the (via ____) at the beginning of the chain. These are all really awesome and I've reblogged a number of them myself but I know that tumblrites can get up in arms when stuff is reposted like this, so I'm giving you a head's up.

No, I saw the note, but when I read it it sounded like you weren't entirely sure who to give credit to when you were saving them off FYI. I wasn't sure if you were familiar with tumblr's weird reblogging structure because the whole reblogging thing was a mystery to me coming from a billion years on the nice, simple structure of LJ.

I didn't think you were being a bitch. This is pretty much my only exposure to tumblr so if there's some etiquette for using it, I'd like to know. I asked someone else and she said it didn't matter because it was all reblogging, but I do like to give credit where it's due I just haven't foggiest idea how it works. Am I just to link to whomever it was posted by?

I wouldn't bother doing it for this post (what a pain in the ass), but just in the future if you start using Tumblr as a source for graphics.

To give a little background, while Tumblr is all reblogging, it's customary etiquette to always leave the OP, even if you take out the middle reblog names (because that little credit line can get very long). What happens a lot is that people put together posts like these (which btw is really awesome and if I weren't already on Arther/Eames like white on rice, you better believe I would be after this. Expect porn from this corner pretty soon), someone else saves the graphics and then posts them on tumblr without giving original credit. The graphic gets reblogged because it's pretty and fandom is small, the OP sees it, and there's this big brouhaha about "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST REBLOG. IS THAT SO HARD?" when probably that second poster just saved them from some aggregate source like an LJ pimping post.

I don't have actually have a tumblr; don't plan to get one. I expect this'll be the only time I use tumblr and I only made this post because I came across the FYI site and thought, "OH LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTY IMAGES, THEY SHOULD BE SHARED WITH THE MASSES." It's not a matter of not wanting to give credit, but of it just not translating to LJ without 20-odd links floating around. Is it enough to put the names in the roll over Description line? I don't want to short shrift anybody.
