Mad Men 'The Suitcase'

And in conclusion:

DON + PEGGY 4EVA

Or as [livejournal.com profile] maurheti said, "They would be the fucking power couple, man. Work hard, love hard, fight hard. It'll prolly end badly, but oh, what a ride.

It's clear to me that regardless of whatever else happens with anybody else in their lives, they make each other human. There is a connection of respect and trust that they don't get anywhere else. That to me is the best of all possible worlds. Wait, forget the Voltaire. I save Voltaire for when I'm being sarcastic after having a bad day and this shit was fucking awesome.

I am so fucking excited about that goddamn episode I can't restrain myself!!! How they went from the tension to screaming at each other to crying to HOLDING HANDS ahhhhhhhhh, I died. That's all. Also: did you catch the part in the preview where Joan is all "Don't make me come out here again!" Hubba hubba!

Favorite episode ever. Goddamn, I love how she just gives him his bullshit right back, LOVE IT. She is so strong and smart and brave and human and I LOVE HER. And Don, oh Don.

"She was the only person who ever knew who I really am." (paraphrased)

"That's not true."

THAT WAS EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED IN AN EPISODE OF MAD MEN.

It was a goddamn good episode. They are a total platonic ship for me, but I love how much they understand about each other, and I love Peggy so much for a) being willing to challenge Don, and b) making him seem like a human again, instead of just a giant asshole.

♥ SO GOOD.

I-- you know, it's not even about shipping them sexually (although I wouldn't say no to that), I just want them on the same side and I love any scene the two of them are in together because they're *good* for each other.

And I love any scene with Don and Joan together, because it's sometimes really good to see that he respects her professionalism. That for all Don fails at personal relationships, he does have this ability, this willingness to have respect for the women he knows, to admire and appreciate their strengths and to want them to be strong. He appreciates the lines that Joan draws, rather than disregarding them.

I mean, he fails in his relationships with women (and often drastically so) because he is deeply fucked up, but it's something that makes me still care about him, to want to see him in the same room as these awesome women, and not just for him, but for them too.

I love the two of them. I think that Peggy is one of the few women that Don really respects and likes, though he's usually fairly shitty at showing it. And I think they both have a lot of baggage, but that they'd be awesome together. Don needs someone that realizes what a shit he can be and will call him on it.
