And in conclusion:
DON + PEGGY 4EVA
Or as

It's clear to me that regardless of whatever else happens with anybody else in their lives, they make each other human. There is a connection of respect and trust that they don't get anywhere else. That to me is the best of all possible worlds. Wait, forget the Voltaire. I save Voltaire for when I'm being sarcastic after having a bad day and this shit was fucking awesome.

Date: 2010-09-07 12:15 am (UTC)Although honestly, at all the points that I think people were seeing that 'maybe' connection last night, I was picking up friendship ("Aw, that's cute, Don needs a friend like that because he doesn't have any at all") and mothering ([when he laid his head in her lap] "Don wants a mom rn, he's never actually had one").

Date: 2010-09-07 12:05 am (UTC)Oh, Don and Peggy. I am totally all about them being BFFs, but then last night happened and I was like "There's somebody else who knows you. Tell her Dick. Don. Don you are a Dick."

Date: 2010-09-06 09:04 pm (UTC)And I love any scene with Don and Joan together, because it's sometimes really good to see that he respects her professionalism. That for all Don fails at personal relationships, he does have this ability, this willingness to have respect for the women he knows, to admire and appreciate their strengths and to want them to be strong. He appreciates the lines that Joan draws, rather than disregarding them.
I mean, he fails in his relationships with women (and often drastically so) because he is deeply fucked up, but it's something that makes me still care about him, to want to see him in the same room as these awesome women, and not just for him, but for them too.
