I've been dying to show off this icon for days (courtesy of

abbycadabra), but I thought it would help to have something a bit more substantive to accompany it. So. I'm getting ready to go on holiday for a bit, and my ability to write has already departed for said destination. I'd planned to just be off, but I saw this in

musesfool's LJ and thought I might give it a go:

Name a pairing (that I'm familiar with, in a fandom I'm familiar with) and I will write one* line of a story for it. Please include a one word prompt (which may or may not be used, dunno yet, I'll have to see how it goes).

Fandoms availabile are as follows: Harry Potter, Smallville, The 4400, BSG, Spider-Man 2, X2, Lost, due South, Ocean's 11 & 12 and whatever else you've seen me write in that I've forgotten now.

I have been deeply in love with Jamie since, well, since February, actually, when I first read Telegraph Avenue and left you a comment with a cover graphic in lieu of feedback. He's a character that I know you've left behind, but for some reason he's stayed with me. I always hope that you'll resurrect him - whether in an original story, something fannish, or even as the LBD of your multiverse dabblings. I love this character hugely, and I'll take him where I find him.

So. When you asked before if you could write me something, I wish I'd thought to ask you for something Jamie. Thank you for this brief resurrection.

And damnation - I wondered where this had gone, and now I find I posted it as a comment, rather than a reply, and now you have it twice, in various stages of squee. Er. Sorry...

Neville/Draco; hiss

Enjoy your holiday!

Neville's never heard Parseltongue before; he didn't know Malfoy knew the language. But he doesn't know a lot of things about Malfoy and that's what makes him so attractive, in manner of speaking, so Neville digs the tips of his fingers in a little deeper just to hear Malfoy hiss again.

Theodore/Blaise; warm

Theodore doesn't dream about Blaise that often; it's a very rare occurance for him to dream about the person lying next to him in bed. Sometimes, however, he has unsettling dreams -- the kind where he fights and kicks and yells -- but he always wakes up to Blaise beside him, warm and sleepy, smirking even in the dead of night.

blaise/lucius broken

There's something wrong with Lucius Malfoy when he comes back from Azakban; there's something broken inside him. He's always been cruel, but now he's dangerous. Even if Draco and his Aunt Narcissa can't see it, Blaise makes certain to keep just outside Lucius' range, he can tell Lucius is just waiting for the wrong thing to make him go off.

Harry/Neville, Delirium

Harry's not the nurturing sort; he doesn't know how to attend to Neville's febrile state. Harry's supposed to defeat the demons, not fix everyday ailments, and he's uneasy as Neville tosses and turns in their bed. "You have to get better on your own," he says quietly. "I don't know how to fix this one for you."

Neville/Hermione, practicality

Hermione? Damn, do you hate me or something? Ick. Right.

Hermione studied the split ends of her blue hair, resolutely biting back the urge to tell Neville that blue wasn't her colour. "Well, at least we know what happens when the charm goes wrong."

Okay, I haven't even had a chance to read any of these yet, but your ETA makes me laugh and laugh.

Brevity is good, but it's not my middle name or something.

Ooooh.

Peter studied the sweater in his lap. It was too much. He couldn't have a afford such a thing if he flew pizza's over half the Upper East Side. "I can't take this, Harry. It's too much."

"It's a gift, Parker, you're not supposed turn it down, you're supposed to say thank you."

Harry's smile made something in Peter's stomach flutter. "Right, um, thank you."

"That's better -- are you going to try it on? I promise that cashmere doesn't bite."

Jack/Sawyer, punishment.

The Doc is like his dad a little bit, around the eyes and in the tightness of his mouth. Of course, Sawyer's not looking for the family resemblance; he's not dwelling on some guy he met in a bar, but he's got nothing but time to think these days and if he thinks about the Doc, he can't really help but think about his dad, too.

Sawyer can't imagine his own dad ever talking about how proud he was of Sawyer, but then again, Sawyer can't imagine a lot of things with his dad dead.

Bobby/St John, nostalgia

He doesn't think of Bobby as much as he used to. Sometimes he goes whole days without thinking of Bobby at all, and then he'll see something amusing or stupid, and he'll look over his to catch Bobby's eye only to find that there's no one there.

Neville/Theodore, Adoption

The uncertainty on Theodore's face is evident, at least to Neville, there's also a hint of revulsion and perhaps even fascination. Neville smiles broadly; it's a start. "And you said you wouldn't be any good with Trevor," he says with a broad grin.

Theodore wrinkles his nose. "I said I wasn't a great fan, but this does not mean I plan on adopting your toad, Neville."

Draco/Slughorn if you're still taking requests. (I'm in a random mood.)

The progeny of Lucius Malfoy is just as arrogant and inbred as Horace would have suspected from the union of a Malfoy and Black. He has no idea what Potter could possibly see in such a creature, but he has his theories.

Prompt: powerless

Year after year, Justin swans through the doors of Fletchley Hall, a lithe figure with sparks that shoot from his fingertips and Latin spells that amuse even his father. He is the Chosen One. He doesn't notice anything else. William doesn't even register -- until he does.

Justin notices for the first time in his fourth year -- William's second year -- that William's he's grown taller, and he's not quite as lithe. William is more tan, more posh. Justin's voice is cut with the commonness of his diverse classmates; William is with the best all the time. It's not the same.

In Justin's sixth year, William is no longer his exact double, he's something else entirely. He's taller, broader, more able. He's who Justin was supposed to be; he's who Justin wants to be. William doesn't have the magic, but he has this, and Justin covets. He's powerless to do anything else.

Oh, darling, don't fret yourself, it's my fault for not stating that up front. This doesn't mean I won't fill your request though, that wouldn't be on at all. Now, you said Blaise/Hermione right? *cracks knuckles* Hmmm.

He doesn't think of Gryffindors as being capable, they're too self-serving and snide. Blaise knows the other houses labour under the assumption that Slytherin is the most arrogant of them all, but he watches avidly and he knows that title belongs to Gryffindor more than any other, because they moralise, when everyone else just gets on with it. And she, she is a part of that house, so it doesn't really matter how good she is at Arithmancy or whatever else she might have in her favour, Blaise won't associate with that sort of conceited degenrate.
