You remember back in the day when 10 pages was long? I remember that. I think it has a lot to do with Generation Kill itself since it's a closed canon with such a small fandom that when you go outside you can just, well, make a mob!AU. Oh, do give Merlin a chance. It is so freaking adorable, it makes my days better just thinking about it. It's not historically accurate or particularly serious, but the characters are fun and the developing relationship between the young Merlin and the just-as-young Arthur is a joy to watch.

Well, probably not on-screen, since it's a late afternoon/early evening show on the BBC and *kids might see omg*, but by episode four the show has gone through what feels like every slash trope known to womankind. Since Russel T. Davies has had some involvement in the show's conception, I believe it's fair to say that it's intentional.
