I am calling a moratorium
Okay, it is Friday. Please come and talk to me about something other than politics, racism, work, fuckwittery or the United States being the work of the devil. Massive bonus points if you provide porn. Or at least something to make me smile/laugh/not be homicidal for longer than 5 seconds.
ETA: And in return I offer you Truthful TV Title Cards, because talk about accuracy. And FYI: Name that Cylon will be back on January 16, 2009. And I really really wish there was a show called Drink Smoke Fuck. Oh, wait, there is!

Dude, even outside the Marines they're all 'don't ask, don't tell, but um, just lean a little closer.'
THEY SO ARE! Nate as universally loved! Brad working on his bike and ogling Nate's ass! (Well, that's just a given, really.) Locker room porn!
Okay, that is not going to happen. It's really not. I've been saying that all week. Except for those little snippets. And whatnot. I just wrote 60 pages, I cannot be all AU all the time. Only one per fandom!
Also, while I do really like GI Jane I find the idea of a girl!Brad rather disturbing. Brad wouldn't be Brad if he were a girl. To me, the entire dynamic of GK is that these are all men, and when you throw a girl in the mix, well, men just don't know how to behave. As evidenced by GI Jane. And millions of years of life on planet earth.

Awww! Alas. Well, you woulda had to deal with Brad's junior high/hs sweetheart-of-future-heart-rending-DOOM anyway, so this is probably better.
Regardless, the Epic Mob AU makes me happy to this day.

This is what I'm saying! It's the Worst Idea Ever (as opposed to the Best Idea of Last Week: the GK hs AU). Which is why gender-swapping is getting ignored. I don't even like gender-swapping. Obviously GK has twisted my brain to such an extent that I simply cannot go on.
As an aside, I kind of love Murphy's Laws of Combat.
If you're short of everything but the enemy, you're in a combat zone.
Now doesn't THAT sound familiar.

Ah, but see, that's the joy of an AU, you can take it and flip it any which way you want. So, if Nate's Brad's HS sweetheart, there doesn't necessarily have to be a heart-break of doom. Okay, there was that heart-break of stupid boys being boys, but they were 13 at the time with that kiss and run thing, and yes okay, awkward, but they managed to string it along for a few more years until Brad tried to make a move and Nate was like, WTF! OMG! and then Brad quit the football team and Nate didn't have his Wide Reciever anymore and the entire team went into mourning.

I loved that so much that I was telling

OHHH! You turned NATE into Brad's hs sweetheart? I...totally missed that. Dude. THAT is awesome.

So, SO awesome. And all 'cause Nate overanalyzes (because if he turned off his brain for two seconds, obviously there would be no problem...'cause Brad's a hotass and friction is Good). And then the football team crashed and burned in some epic kind of way and lost to their longstanding rivals for the first time in a generation and Nate BROUGHT SHAME ONTO HIS FATHER'S HOUSE...and all because he had the gall to flip out when Brad wanted to get him off. For shame.
Also. Wide Receiver, heh.
Yes, I'm five.
it would've made an awesome key for a story, but it's all exemplified in GK as a series and thusly no story to telll.
Well, you could do it as a terribly self-referential thing. Like, when Wright's articles come out in RS, the guys play a drinking game based on how many of Murphy's Laws of Combat they can find referenced. And then they all get fabulously smashed ('cause they're ALL THERE) and then there's much hot Nate/Brad porn.
All roads lead to Nate/Brad porn.
