Less of a meme and more of a youyou

(gacked from [livejournal.com profile] obsessedmuch)

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

My personal goal is: to get over my writer's block, write my Obscure Santa thingy, and perhaps do something illegal this weekend.

I aim high.

There were eight Jennifers in my sixth grade class, so I became Jenni. There were six Jenni/Jenny/Jennies in my eleventh grade class, so I became Jenn. There were three Jenns in my dorm in college, so now I became *insert last name here*.

Based on this, I can tell within 5 secs of answering the phone what age I was when I met the person.

[identity profile] callmesandy.livejournal.com 2003-12-11 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
There were four [k]s in my fourth grade class of 28. We were all addressed by the teacher by our first and last name and while I remember no one else's name from that class, I still remember the last name of those other three [k]s.

Hmmm. I got sucked in by your O.C. fic and your spot-on Seth voice.

And about me... In college, I was a cocktail waitress at a country-western roadhouse that was exactly like Gilly's from Urban Cowboy . Complete with mechanical bull rodeos every Friday night.

I:

- have no gag reflex
- love your stories like a big, loving thing, even though I have no Draco love whatsoever
- love saying the word "Monkeys!"
- have some weird fic-fetish about voyeurism
- have said far, far too much.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
I think you are adorable.
How do you do the no gag reflex thing? Can I learn this?

My name is Sara. I like long walks on the beach, loitering in bookshops, and expensive makeup.

I might possibly be responsible for this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/vanityfair/333631.html?thread=4629567).

Possibly.

:-D

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
That cracked me up so badly I almost hyperventilated.

What's your favorite kind of expensive make-up?

[identity profile] jennyo.livejournal.com 2003-12-11 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
When I came back from NOLA in 2001, I had a Southern accent pronounced enough that old friends asked if I was putting them on; I, on the other hand, was like, "what accent?" And I apparently still have an accent when drunk, tired, or using the word "bastard."

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Things like that happen. Did you hear about the woman in Florida who woke up with a British accent. (No, this is not a bad joke).

[identity profile] serrico.livejournal.com 2003-12-11 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not a big fan of hot chocolate; if I have more than about half a mug-full, I feel quite sick.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
Is it a chocolate thing specifically or just a hot chocolate thing?

[identity profile] lazy-daze.livejournal.com 2003-12-11 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a half-brother with the same name as me. I still don't know to this day exactly what went through my Dad's head when he named his son - conveniently forgetting he already had a daughter called that? Hehe. (yes, it is an interchangeable name, not like Katie or something :P)
I love your fic and want you to write more HP.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 10:48 am (UTC)(link)

This is like the George Forman thing, I think. You know all his sons (there are like *five*) have his name.

Hmm. I move around a lot. I lived in Italy for two years. Boston for a year on either side. And now NYC, since September. Despite my recent inability to settle down, I am ridiculously loyal and get attached to things to the point of (not too unhealthy, I like to think...) obsession. The whole fandom thing works into that well. I love Ira Glass with a great and enduring passion. Also eggplant, artichokes, peaches, cheese, and dark chocolate. Spinach too. And your fic, which perhaps you've noticed.

Hobbies include crochet, quilting, and keeping Excel sheet lists of things that annoy me in fanfiction. (Current favourite list is a misuse of the phrase 'Boy Who Lived' in HP fics.)

1. Feel the OC love!
2. The only time I ever used phrase 'The Boy Who Lived' is to mock it, ex. The Git Who Won't Die.

I lurk. It's true. I found you through another friend and I love reading your fic... The OC stuff brings a smile.

I like spinach, but not as much as bacon. I'm in the middle of writers block too, but for academic type writing, not personal and enjoyable sorts. Love to bake. I don't run as much as I should anymore.

And I own three pairs of red shoes... Carson from QEfTSG be damned.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, I was all taken aback by the Carson thing too, especially since I'm getting red Converse for Christmas.

Also, bacon ROCKS!

I do like spinach. Especially the spinach souflee that Stoffers makes. I cannot spell or punctuate for my life - yet was somehow able to graduate with an English major from college. I am excessively obsessive and your fabulous fic does nothing for this problem. I love fantasy/sci fi in books, movies and TV. Books in general are good things and I have more than twice as many books as I have space for them on my bookshelves. I wrote a 50,000 word novel in November doing nanowrimo (http://www.nanowrimo.org) and am proud to be able to introduce myself as a novelist who has included such things as: The Corset O' Doom (which transports breasts into another dimension in order to stop them getting in the way), The Ogres of Aaaaarrrrggghhh (whose fighting technique consists of picking someone up and then swinging them into someone else) and Geoff the god of Biscuits (a blatant homage to Eddie Izzard) into my novel.

[identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com 2003-12-12 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
I heart Eddie Izzard. He's the world's best executive transvestite. Also, I so know what you mean aboutthe spell and punctuation thing, that's totally what spellcheck is for. English majors are about reading and writing, all that other stuff isn't relevant!

And you write well. Mainly, I kept agreeing with some of your comments and responses to other posts, and your fic? Good! Although you NEED to write more Smallville!

Gary

Spinach, sauteed in olive oil with some garlic. Mighty fine.

I own too many books. I am in an intense love-hate relationship with technology. I listen to a lot of alt-country music, particularly the stuff recorded by former punk rockers. My friends want me to rewrite "The Thin Man."

I like spinach! But not creamed spinach. Ew.

Um, I sometimes do weird little-house-on-the-prairie things like make my own cheese. Bake my own bread - I have a sourdough culture that's like a pet. Spin wool and knit it. Make candles and soap. I have this weird idea that if society went *boom* at least I could kinda sorta eat, be clothed, see in the dark and be clean.

In the early 90's Gun 'n Roses was banned from St. Louis, Missouri for inciting a riot at the newly finished Riverport Amphitheater. I was there, in floor seating, and received an elbow to the face resulting in a black eye which in turn resulted in ruining a friends wedding pictures. I was the maid of honor, so she really couldn't just keep me out of them. We no longer keep in touch, hmm, I wonder why.

Oh, and I only like spinach in spinach dip.

It's all about the comic book love! I almost disowned my father the other day when he asked what DC Comics was. This was after his voiced his surprise that I still collected them. Clearly there are conversations I should not have after I've had a drink or three.
