Random fandom times nao!

[Poll #1209101]

It occurred to me today as I found myself watching Doctor Who, for I don't even know, maybe, the dozenth time, that I don't like Ten at all (shocking), or Rose (doubly shocking. I mean Billie Piper?! Everyone remember when she was married to Chris Evans?! I digress). But I did quite like Chris Eccleston, when I saw him, and I think Martha and Donna are fucking ace, so really, if they bring Nine back and pair him up with Martha and Donna, I would so be there. Martha + Nine = Sex appeal, rowr!. OR. They could just make it the Martha and Donna show and I'd love that too.

Friday babble.

For anybody who missed it, this week I wrote Live Free or Die Hard, McClane/Farrell, R -- Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before -- and Iron Man real-live het (hush), Tony/Pepper, PG-13 -- Employer/Employee Relations.

Also, if I ask you for an egg and bacon sandwhich that is not the same as an egg whites sandwich. Why the hell would I ask for egg whites with bacon?! That's like saying you're a teetotaller except for the beer you're drinking at the moment. GAH!

And it's looking like July is going to be my best month of TV in several years.

* Burn Notice
* Psych
* Weeds
* How to Look Good Naked (which is surprisingly good)
* Generation Kill
AND MAD MEN! Yay, Mad Men, fucked up misogynistic show built of crazy!

ETA:

I'm not a Joy Division fan; my entire ouvre of New Order is the song 'Krafty' and this is all by choice, but if you're looking for a movie to see/Netflix/torrent, I cannot recommend Control highly enough. An understated, black and white, British indie film about the life of Ian Curtis, with an absolutely cracking (and hot) lead in Sam Riley. Control is more proof that the best movies generally don't have lots of CGI and explosions, but they do have a lot of talent and heart.

Iron Man – Employer/Employee Relations (Tony/Pepper, PG-13)

This was going to be a completely different story until I came across this photo. Among other things the man is wearing a Run D.M.C. shirt. He should just do me now.

LFoDH - Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before (McClane/Farrell, R)

There's this 4th of July Ficathon happening over at [livejournal.com profile] hard4brains and this is melded from a lot of prompts, so, uh, yeah.

Convince me.

a. Dear [livejournal.com profile] meret:

Thank you for saying you were excited about In Plain Sight, because then I felt compelled to actually watch it, and you know, it's pretty damn good. USA Network, I see you totally being The Network this summer. Iz times for Psych and Burn Notice nao!

Regards,
Me.

Anybody else watching this too?

b. My Live Free or Die Hard story is stalled. Probably because John is stoned. Trufax! Thanks to whomever suggested that for the [livejournal.com profile] hard4brains July 4 Ficathon.

c. If you could convince me to write any Iron Man story, what would you want to see? No, I will not pair up Tony/Pepper. IMO, they work better just the way they are. However, I am succeptible to giving Tony a boyfriend*, I just haven't found one that works for me. Convince me.

*ETA: Smoking hot one night stand also welcome.

Well, that's unexpected.

It seems that I am so enamoured of Life on Mars that I've decided it's better than anything else on telly at the moment... which is probably why I'm watching it AGAIN.

I feel confused. Is this love? Where are my icons? Will someone make me one that says Protected by Armed Bastards since 1973? or Guantanamo Bay isn't in Spain. or Annie loves you? Or Gene Hunt is love.

Um, speaking of love [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone recommended We Could Steal Time by [livejournal.com profile] dorcas_gustine, which is not only the best Life on Mars story I've read bar none, but may also be the best story I've read this year. Yeah, it's just that good. Go read it. Now. You know I don't steer you wrong.

While we're on about stories, [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 is single-handedly trying to make my head explode over here with plot bunnies. Naked Tony Stark! Stephen Colbert with wings! I've already done the Ianto/George thing, except Ianto left George to have alien babies with Matt, so there went that. However. Before you start a riot. Yes, there is naked Tony Stark on the horizon. Stay tuned to this channel for further developments.

And back to Life on Mars for a minute, does anyone have the soundtracks and would you please please please share them with me? No, I cannot promise that this will lead to LoM fic, I can't say it wouldn't happen either. [livejournal.com profile] lazlet look alive!

It occured to me last night that U.S. summer programming is WAY better than the broadcast season. Seriously, what's coming up? Burn Notice. Project Runway S5. Psych. Generation Kill (The new David Simon on HBO - he created The Wire). AND Weeds.

I don't get this much action during the rest of the year. BRING IT!

Plan B!

I have watched all episodes of Life on Mars. It really is twu wuv. I officially have an OTP het couple. Yes, I am that far gone on Sam/Annie. Mostly I just think Annie is the most adorable thing ever. And yet, this does not preclude Sam/Gene. Gene is a scary bigot, and yet, um, mad bad and hot as hell. Oh, the shame. So, hook me up with the recommendations!

ETA: I did try to watch Ashes to Ashes, because I wanted to see Gene, but clowns scare the crap out of me and Keeley Hawes just isn't John Simm. I cannot believe I didn't remember John Simm was in Human Traffic, oh was that the business back in the day.

Also, persuant to that poll last week, I have written two Iron Man stories and one Die Hard story, which have given me SO much joy. However. It seems my writing brain is simply incapable of processing anything Gossip Girl related, that love just isn't there, so, um, 34 people that wanted to see Chuck/Blair, it's time for Plan B.

RPS/Entourage – This One Time at Band Camp (Ari Gold/Robert Downey Jr., PG-13)

So. I saw Iron Man this weekend. I'm still pondering the magnificence that is Tony Stark and who he should gay-up, so we'll get to him eventually. This has been banging around for a while though, I thought it was time to free it.

Righty-ho!

In light of the coming blasphemy that will be ABC's version of Life on Mars, I decided to finally get to the original before all was irreparably tainted.

So, I have just finished the original Life on Mars pilot and, um, Sam/Gene, y/y? Sam/Annie? y/y?

Also? Annie FTW \O/!

[livejournal.com profile] slodwick and [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone I am feeling the love. Bring me your story recs!

With Annie that makes like, two female leads I've grown to adore this year (including Casey on Greek). The world she is ending. Well, between this and Shia's shit balls... You don't believe me, read the article. In fact? READ THE ARTICLE ANYWAY. It will explains things you didn't even know you needed explained.

That's one hell of an anniversary present.

On April 24th I posted about the horror that is T-Mobile.

Two days later, per your suggestions, I sent in my letter to The Consumerist.

Today, this shows up on The Consumerist.

Y'all are impressive. No doubt.

I am a bit wigged by the LJ link though. You think the people in T-Mobile corporate are interested in Matt Damon + Robert Downey Jr RPS for Iron Man 2?
2008-05-08 03:37 pm

Advice is free.

1. I need a harddrive so I can back-up my ipod. I'm thinking about Seagate or Western Digital, but everything I read with them says that they have all this extraneous software and I'm not down for that. I JUST WANT TO BACK-UP MY POD! Plz to help with an easy solution. I also need to know which software to use to make this transfer possible. I know if anybody can help, you lot can.

2. Cleanser and Moisturizer. The water is different everywhere you live, where I live now the water is a mess and my skin is totally not feeling this. I used to be one of those bar soap kids, and it was perfect, until it stopped working. I like my cleansers foamy, it's just fun, but I'd like it to work more. My skin is fairly normal, more oily than dry with rare blemishes (except now that it's on strike). I'm currently using an Oil of Olay Face Wash as Neutrogena dries out my face. Other suggestions are fabulous. My skin isn't sensitive, but it doesn't like stuff with a lot of alcohol.

For years I used regular Oil of Olay moisturizer, but then they put SPF 15 in it and that messed up the composition and my face went on strike. I'm currently using a rather fancy spa brand, but I'd like to get something a little more reasonable shall we say. It definitely needs to have an SPF as I'm outside a lot and being without is a disaster, but it can't be thick and goopy.

Also, tomorrow is my SIX year LJ anniversary. Wow. Craziness.
