1. Does anybody have Starsailor's 'On the Outside' album that they'd be willing to upload for me?

2. I wrote my first Being Human story the other day, you can't ride the concept of the horse, which would not have been possible without all you good good people. Yes, I am totally made of win that way.

3. Did you hear the one about the Austrian rugby team?

When they lose they like to strip and sing, "Singing in the Rain". So NSFW.

4. [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 and I have been talking about Robert Downey Jr. and his brilliance -- even though I've not seen Iron Man yet (I will eventually and I will write about it, relax) -- and she told me that Iron Man and Captain America are BFF and I said, Oh, that's nice.

And then she told me that Matt Damon has been lobbying to play Captain America for an age and I said, Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, because RDJ and Matt are also BFF. Trufax!

So, now, in my head there's a whole RPS story about Matt and RDJ shooting Iron Man 2 together (2010), to launch Captain America (2011).

Ari would -- Ari would totally be all over that. He'd totally want Matt to get Shia a sidekick role too. OMG! And Viggo could direct! And then RDJ could lecture Shia about drugs and Matt and RDJ would be very hetero-life partners.
This is dedicated to all you guys for your help last week. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lazlet for beta duty.

A more efficient transformation into a monster. Right. )
1. Burn Notice returns July 10th. Just 72 more days. Yes, I am that desperate for something I enjoy. Not that I don't enjoy Gossip Girl. And not that I'm not totally thinking about writing Gossip Girl spoiler )

2. There is apparently this show called Being Human that I need to see, because it has Rudge from The History Boys. Oh, wise flist... how do I make this happen? ETA: After many, MANY false starts I have achieved Being Human. I've watched five minutes and am already besotted like a matron who refuses to accept that John Barrowman is gay.

3. SK has decided that I need to see some German soap with slash. I know not the name, but I know the intended targets are Christian and Oliver. I like Oliver. It's a good name. Oliver Wood. Oliver Twist. Yes.

4. I would marry Mike Rowe.

5. Being sick is bullshit. Being sick and my Greek DVDs not arriving is past bullshit and straight into cruelty.

ETA: ADRIAN LESTER IS IN BEING HUMAN? OMG, people, PLEASE HELP. Look! I give you the most adorable baby bear as bribery.
In light of yesterday's bitter tirade, let's have some fun. I see [livejournal.com profile] slodwick is playing Shag/Marry/Cliff, so, let's have at it. You ask me and I ask you. Fictional and non-fictional both welcome. Also, the person who lets me cliff Peter Petrelli gets a gold star.
Today I sent the following letter to T-Mobile's Office of the President, which is fancy talk for Customer Service, so I also made sure to send it to their corporate headquarters since it's important to be thorough about these things. I'm pondering filing with the Better Business Bureau too.

Let me tell you about why I will never use T-Mobile, and why I urge you to either get away while you can or never go there in the first place. Never, man. NEVER. )
1. Is anybody else out there into Greek? If not, WHY NOT?! SERIOUSLY? I know when you think ABC Family you think "as if!", but if The O.C. had been less stupid or Gossip Girl wasn't so much about the wicked awesome clothes they might be as awesome as Greek!

Greek has m/m slash and f/f slash and het and gen and anything in between. There are black people and white people and Indian people and gay people and dorks, and it's SO college, but the good parts, and some of the bad parts. At least go to the website and click around. Discover your love of Cappie.

I DEFY you not to love Cappie.

If Seth Cohen hadn't been quite such a pompus tool and slightly cool, he would've... not been Cappie. He would be Rusty. Actually, Rusty's not cool as Cappie, either, but he wants to be. And his heart's in the right place. And Calvin! Gay and black and a wicked ex-hockey star and getting laid by adorable guys with dimples! Also, if Chuck and Nate from Gossip Girl had a baby, he would be Evan. Evan's kind of a tool. And for a change, even the girls are awesome too! At first it seems like Casey is a vapid cow, but she's got real heart, plus it turns out that Rebecca is the scheming whore and Ashleigh, you know, not bright, but her heart is in the right place. How can I not pimp this show?

All I'm saying is give peace a change give the show a chance. You can watch episodes right on the website! Just try it. Would I steer you wrong?

2. Gossip Girl is back tonight! Hooray! Go read this article in the meantime.

3. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles fans, if you haven't read the things you know about a person by [livejournal.com profile] svilleficrecs I don't know what you're doing with your life. Seriously. It's Derek/John, and it's hot and so fucking twisted and so perfectly realized. When I finished reading it all I could think was "That's SO canon" and just, um, yeah.

3a. I had a thought after reading the above story for the second time (yes, I like it that much) that since Christian Bale has been cast as John Connor for the new series of Terminator movies (did you not know that?) that my brain has to reconcile Christian Bale having sex with Brian Austin Green. I just -- I can't see this. I think there's smoke coming out of my ears. Can ANYONE see this? Can you draw me a picture? Or a manip. Or um, something? We needs it precious! There'll be pron at the end of it for you!

ETA: #4: I don't supposed anyone would have a copy of the new Jason Mraz album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. lying around that they could upload for the class? How about just some Jason Mraz live? Help a sister out!
Yesterday, while scrounging for music, I told you about a mix that I'd meant to make, well, today I got inspired.

Based on some comments I've gotten recently about artists I pimp that aren't commercially recognized (because the radio is evil) I present to you lot the Who the Fuck Are You? Mix. This isn't necessarily a mix of people you've never heard of, but of people who I think should be loved more.

Who The Fuck Are You? Mix

1. Matt Costa 'Never Looking Back'
2. Meredith Bragg 'My Absent Will' <-- A man, not a woman.
3. Pacifika 'Me Cai' <-- Peruvian music, which is not unlike sex
4. Gnarls Barkley 'Going On' <-- My favorite song from The Odd Couple
5. The Filthy Youth 'City Stop' <-- Yes, that's Chuck from Gossip Girl's band. He's English. Pimping is mandatory
6. DeVotchKa 'Transliterator'
7. Andrew Bird 'Heretics' <-- My favorite song over five albums
8. She and Him 'Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?'
9. Frightened Rabbit 'Head Rolls Off' <-- They are Scottish and scruffy. How can you say no?
10. Greg Laswell 'How the Day Sounds' <-- Is absolutely fabulous live. Also used to date Mandy Moore.
11. Jenny Owens Young 'Fuck Was I' <-- What woman has not asked herself this question?
12. Mae 'Ocean' <-- Don't let the name fool you. These are boys.
13. Zack Hexum 'Met a Girl Like You Once' <-- Zack is the little brother on Nick from 311.
14. Why? 'The Hollows <-- I hadn't planned on putting them here, but they sing about seing two guys making out on the basketball court. I was obligated.
15. Elbow 'Audience With the Pope' <-- A song about prioritization
16. DJ Shadow 'Six Days'

Zip file here
I was going to make you lot a mix, but it, didn't happen. I am hoping that if I can get some earworms plugged in my head that that might change. Ergo, I am looking for the following songs/albums. Plz to do a good deed today and help?

- Frightened Rabbit 'Sing the Greys' LP

- 'A la Claire Fontaine' from The Painted Veil or any choir cover there of

- Battlestar Galactica S3 'All Along the Watchtower' (yes, that version, from that scene. we needs it precious)

- The Beatles 'Dear Prudence', 'It Won't Be Long' and 'Why Don't We Do it in the Road' (Bryce/Chuck what?)

- Kenny Loggins Rogers 'The Gambler' (what?)

- Shirley Bassey 'Get The Party Started' (cover) and 'Goldfinger'

- Travis 'Love Will Come Through'

Or anything else you feel like contributing to the cause.

T'ANKS!
I continue to have zero desire to write. No, actually, it's less than zero, because it's almost like anti-desire. What is that? Chastity? I am writing chaste! That doesn't sound right, does it?

Let's talk about other things, shall we?

1. I finally saw There Will Be Blood and I have to say that a) I am not a Daniel Day-Lewis fan and b) I still want a refund for No Country For Old Men, because frankly, if I wanted to see someone suck their own dick, I could find it for less than $11 on the net. I digress. Um, my real question... was There Will Be Blood supposed to be as gay as it was, because I gotta tell you, for the first 2/3s I was like, "You're imagining it" and then towards the end? So not imagining it. There was that one scene... )

2. Is there fic out there for Wonderfalls, because I feel like you lot have been holding out on me. I want a Mike! And Jaye makes me think of [livejournal.com profile] antheia, like a lot. Also, Lee Pace is incredibly lanky. He's so all arms and legs. It's so damn hot.

3. After separating from Battlestar Galactica last year when Sci-Fi went all stupid with the time slot change, we reunited with hot marathon sex last week. I had forgotten the power of naked Helo. And Starbuck. But mostly just Starbuck. Katee Sackhoff, you can make me gay anytime you want. Anyroad. I have to say that everyone improves with marathon sex. Spoilers through 4.01 )
So, I've been having these Harry Potter fandom, err, shall we say thoughts? At first they were just vague thoughts. Theodore & Blaise mostly since all my Slytherins have had a massive series except for a story that has that pairing, but then my brain thought that that meant the end of Neville & Theodore, which made me distressed and so I had to shelve that idea.

And then today [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana announced that she thought that James McAvoy *observe a moment for the hotass* would be an amazing Harry, and we all know I cannae stand Harry, but for James, concessions can be made.

And then I started thinking, well, does that pair Harry with Neville (now that a) Matthew Lewis is dead hot and b) it turns out that Tommy Brockless from TW is Matthew's big brother, Tony, and can be a suitable mental placement) and if not, then who? I can't really use Prince Harry (Ron) as that's just too much time in Gryffindor tower, and Draco. Well, just no.

And my head said: ED WESTWICK. Yes, from Gossip Girl. He fits the only requirement of the actor actually being British, and if he can wear this and make it look good, well, then I can easily see him naked. The only quandry being, who is he?

What character? I need a name to build a characterization. He's clearly in my house, but WHO in my house. And if he's not in Slytherin, then where? And who. Yeah, the who is the real corker, as these things happen when I've already got virtually every one else cast in my head. Got suggestions? Got plot ideas? Come talk to me.

On the other hand, if there mere thought of HP freaks you out, I wrote Chuck yesterday, Truth, Justice and that Other Stuff, which is Chuck/Bryce.
This is dedicated everybody who contributed to yesterday's brainstorming session,

Truth, Justice and That Other Stuff

Being a spy is hard. They didn't mention that in the brochure. )

It is ON!

Mar. 31st, 2008 01:03 pm
New Kids on the Block will be on the TODAY show (USA) on Friday.

Yes, I will feel ashamed about my glee, but that can wait until after they perform 'I'll Be Loving You (Forever)'
Dear Most Wise Flist:

Have you ever read a story that was so well realized, so heart-breaking and sigh-inducing that you said, GODDAMNIT! WHY CAN'T I WRITE LIKE THAT? CURSES! Well, it's been a long time since I've come across a story like that, but yesterday I came upon [livejournal.com profile] green_postit's Chuck/Bryce story every home was like alcatraz and had one of those moments.

Even if you've never seen Chuck a day in your life, I would recommend this story. It's hot and sexy and sad, and just, oh, Bryce. BRING BACK BRYCE!

I've thusly had to put down my Chuck and Bryce dolls for a hot minute, which leaves me in a bit of a quandry as now I don't know what to write for this picture )

So, now I come to you for your suggestions, you've seen the art, now tell me what you think the story is, and you know, maybe I'll write it. If that sort of thing interests you ;-)
1) GREEK. Anybody else watching this? I literally just started, but uh, huh. Cappy = adorable and Calvin = ROCK ON!

2) Frightened Rabbit. Scottish = hotass, y/y? I need whole albums. Plz to halp?

3) Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Baby Daddy #14. There's a reason I cast him as Tim Drake, people. Maybe this is because I never watched 3rd Rock. I keep wanting to type that as 30 Rock.

4) I wrote two things this week! Chuck -- i'm not going to write you a love song -- and The Colbert Report/due South - Ask Not What You Can Do For Canada, but What it Can Do For You!. That's more than I've written all month. Go team me!

5) [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 and I thought that Ianto & George Clooney would have fabulous babies, but they cannot hold a candle to the thought of Ianto and MATT DAMON having babies together. The good-naturedness would make normal people ill. And yet, can't you see them taking the kids to the park? GAH! My ovaries!

Randomly: If you are using Brad Pitt and George Clooney's friendship as a bastion of heterosexuality with which to measure yourself, dude, you have a problem.

Randomly #2: Yes, I know Barack and Brad are related. I know Brad did this just to drive George crazy (er). The real question here, is did Barack turn down Brad's help back in October because he knew it would make George happy? I mean, he did okay Matt.
It's early. I have had caffeine. I am very pliable at times such as these. So when [livejournal.com profile] antheia said Benton Fraser/Stephen Colbert. National Threat. I said – well, I just wrote.

For you [livejournal.com profile] antheia

The Colbert Report/due South

Ask Not What You Can Do For Canada, but What it Can Do For You! )
FYI: My website is back up and running. HOORAY!

Chuck
Chuck/Bryce - PG
Pre-series

i'm not going to write you a love song

That was a little strange. And kind of homoerotic. Not that those two things are mutually exclusive. )
1. Yes, I know that my website is down.

2. No, I don't know when or if it will be back up.

3. Why? Because my web mistress has been kidnapped by RL and I'm not sure when or if she's coming back.

4. Ergo, until I hear from her, I got nothing for you.

5. If I do not hear from her in the next couple weeks though, I'm probably going to consider finding myself a new webhost. And that will mean rebuilding the website from scratch.

6. In that instance I may just stick with LJ memories.

7. I was going to say something else, but I can't remember what it is now.

8. Oh, yes, Anderson Cooper interviewed Barack Obama last night, and when George got home there was a note that said:

Have decided to leave you for future Leader of Free World. I'm sure you understand; you're the one who wanted me to interview him. -Anderson
Some people just don't know how to behave and then I have to do things like this.

RPS/RPS
Ari Gold/whiskey bottle, Lloyd, various press items

Ari Gold's State of the Union Address )
Everyone I've shared this with so far seems to love it, so clearly I must share it with the rest of you:

Song of the Day: Fink 'This is the Thing

Here be George talking about getting knocked up by Anderson. Possibly. Also, apparently Anderson interviewed Barack Obama last week (which I don't have footage of), but I presume they spent most of their time talking about George off-camera.

Also, today, Mr Future US President Barack Obama gave a speech about the state of racism in America. The question isn't whether it exists, which would be a pointless question, but to address the fact that we need to talk about it, because you can't fix the problem until you admit that it's there, and guess what, this is there. I'm a black woman who lives in America (until the revolution comes and I make London an independent dictatorship and Stephen Colbert my consort) I know it's there.

And yet, this isn't where I start pointing fingers, this isn't the part where I validate you for that one minority friend you have, this is part where I say that I am a person, just like everyone else, and I have the right to be treated as such, no matter what my skin tone. And despite what some people may assume, I'm not supporting Barack Obama because he's black, I'm supporting him because he understands that we need a change. He understands that we have to address our issues before we can get past them. Despite some of the things I've seen and experienced and because of some of them, I believe that we as a people can work on, and maybe work through, our race issues. We have to be the change we want to see.

This is the change I want to see.

Text of the speech available here

Wow.

So I was having an real life emotional moment earlier and felt it would be a good time to say THANK YOU to all of you. Why? Because I can. So. Thank you to every last one of you who reads this El Jay and comments on my entries, even if they're about nail varnish colors, or who read my stories and says they don't suck, or that they suck, but not completely.

Thank you to everyone who supports me and gives me music when my pod craps out, or answers my questions when I am clueless, or hooks me up with sekrit websites to make my life easier.

Thank you for every press clipping you send me that you think I wrote or that you know I have to know about this fricking minute.

Thank you to everyone who sends me virtual presents (thank you [livejournal.com profile] nimmy70!) or who just graces me with their humor and knowledge and amiableness and helps me get through the day.

Thank you all for making my El Jay a place I actually like coming to hang out. You make my life a little bit brighter every day, and I appreciate you greatly.

Most sincerely,
