LURKER AMNESTY DAY!
Apr. 29th, 2009 03:03 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I'm copying this word-for-word from the most awesome
scribblinlenore and declaring today Lurker Amnesty Day! Read but never comment? Surf by occasionally? Here for the fic? Say hello! You are under no obligation to ever comment or delurk again, but here's a chance to do so in a post just for that.
And, you know, if you aren't a lurker but want to say hello and amuse me, that would also make me happy! Amusement is always welcome.
ETA: If you are looking for something awesome in your life, why not try watching The Unusuals. ABC, 10pm, tonight (Wednesday). I offer Exhibits #1 and #2 for your consideration.
ETA#2: As I told
sockich: I am so impressed by how many of you guys are all GENERATION KILL, YEAH! and SOUTHLAND, HOORAY! Seriously it's totally making my day.

Date: 2009-04-30 01:13 am (UTC)I am really liking the show - it fits the title and I like how it is not really serious, like at all. Yea!
I really like your writing and recs and I will try to be more vocal on about my enjoyment. You totally get credit for my reading GK and Merlin with your recs and writing.

Date: 2009-04-30 01:25 am (UTC)I should have friended you earlier, because i've always loved your Merlin stories. It's the Southland stories that made me do it. I'm totally obsessed with that show. At first, I was like another cop show?? but it's amazingggggggggg!!!

Date: 2009-04-30 01:26 am (UTC)I started reading your LJ entries during the Presidential elections but was sidetracked by your fantastic Ari-centric fanfiction that got me to start watching Entourage. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning trying not to wake up the whole house by laughing while I read because it cheered me up so much.
Then I noticed all of the Generation Kill entries, and while I had missed the miniseries on HBO, I dug up the episodes and instantly fell in love. This was only reinforced by your fanfiction, the fandom in general, One Bullet Away, and Nate Fick's (fictional and real) awesomeness.
When you mentioned Southland, I decided that since you had already showed me the Promised Land once, it was highly probable that you could do it again, so I started watching the series. I am now terribly addicted and ashamed at my friends for not following the trend (although they are all watching Generation Kill because of me. We might just shout "Get some!" a little too much).
So, here's a lurker de-lurking just to thank you for everything you post. The fanfiction, the fandom, and the politics. I hope it never ends.

the Brain Trusts that live in the apartment below me are entertaining themselves by filling plastic pop bottles with cleaning solution and throwing them into a trash fire. Idaho Rednecks at their finest.

Date: 2009-04-30 03:40 am (UTC)Started here for our dearest pal Ray Ray, got drawn in by your love of Lochte and Rahm Emannuel, and then got sucked in to Merlin, all thanks to you. Though I'm not really a full time lurker, cos I always try to comment on fics, but still, I don't comment enough really, so HI!

Date: 2009-04-30 03:53 am (UTC)I can't remember why I originally started reading you (which is pretty typical, though not common, for me--something just strikes an extra chord with me and I open up Google Reader. So at some point you wrote something extra awesome), but I've really been enjoying your Southland stuff. I'm trying to stick with it despite some issues (like it's so dark I can't tell the 12 billion medium build brunet white guys apart), and you're helping!

Date: 2009-04-30 04:38 am (UTC)Though I don't watch either Merlin or Southland, I feel like I should, just because you're writing on them. I mean, I must be missing something good, right?
Thanks for the amnesty to de-lurk. It is liberating...in a rolling into Baghdad with Brad and Ray kind of way.

Date: 2009-04-30 04:36 pm (UTC)As for my recommendations? Merlin is fun. It's pretty and light and you can watch it and it will totally fill the time and make you laugh. It's like... a donut. It's not for substance. For substance you want Southland. If Southland were on HBO it would be like GK with cops. It is intense, all the damn time, but it's all very compelling.
I would be very happy to roll anywhere with Brad and Ray I have to say. Even Baghdad.

Date: 2009-04-30 04:42 am (UTC)i've been meaning to get over and read your southland fic. svilleficrecs says it is da-bomb (does anyone still say that?)

Date: 2009-04-30 04:52 am (UTC)(Actually, the first clear memory I have of your journal was when you were yelling at Lush for bath-tub stain problems. Which utterly delighted me at the time, because I'd just used one of their bath bombs, and it left the tub looking like I had been enjoying nasty, nasty times with the Kool Aid Pitcher Man.)

Date: 2009-04-30 04:39 pm (UTC)(DUDE. Lush. I will never touch their soaps again with a goddamn barge pole. I put in an order for some of their retro bath bombs and they sent me a sliver of one of their soaps. So I used it. Let's just say that clearly those soaps and parts of the body do not react well. [/tmi] )

Date: 2009-04-30 05:04 am (UTC)Oh, and hello, and thank you. Much like everybody else, you introduced me to Generation Kill (and also some other shiny things), but I think I will have to back into hiding, seeing as I missed the amnesty and all.
