I am nothing without you.

I can’t say why I first started writing fan fiction, probably emulation mixed in with boredom and a desire to self-flagellate on a regular basis. (That other kind of masturbation is frowned upon at work. Damn fascists.)
Whatever the reason, I did start writing, and for some reason I heard back from people who said they were reading my scratchings. They were just random notes to let me know that people knew I existed, and it was freaky, but really nice all the same.
As time passed, I changed fandoms and kept writing, and people kept telling me they were reading. And I was shocked, happily so, and pleased, and really very honoured. Still am.
Along the way I added a few more fandoms to my roster and a few stories (I've gotten some serious mileage out of the last two years), and people, strangely enough, still seem to be reading my stuff. At least I believe so. I mean every now and then I get those ‘I never sent feedback before...' e-mails so I know at least five people are reading this, if you include me and my four beta readers.
But that’s not the point.
The point is that the idea that people read what I write, it’s great, and it’s humbling (love that spell check) and really, very gratifying. I am even more craptastic without you guys, so thank you. I’d like to think I am grateful... of course I also like to think I’m sane, so perhaps I’m missing some synapse firings in my brain. But really, thank you for reading, I appreciate it.
