An exercise in fluffy brevity

Hopefully I shall be able to write them something properly porned out in the future, but I wanted to present something to
happyminion (because, yes, they do have sex) and
meret (GIP! spandex! spandex for everyone!) on behalf of myself, Sean and Cal.

Learning Curve
Sean’s fingers ghost over Cal’s scalp, collecting tiny drops of moisture and slicking them over soft skin. His lips brush the soft spot behind Cal’s right ear, and he shifts slightly when Cal urges him to lay on his side.
The time is 0300, and they’ve been in bed for five hours.
They‘ve learned to take their time.
Lazy touches and movements, tongue seeking those tiny crevices that have been tasted hundreds of times before. Sean’s fingers glide through the sweat in the small of Cal’s back, and he strokes rather than grabs. His thrusts are long, languorous, and he breathes tiny noises into Cal’s neck that sound like his name.
Even after two years Sean’s words are more tentative and possessive than relaxed, and he takes a lot of time to learn what is his. Despite Callum’s abilities he can still be marked, it just takes patience on Sean’s part.
There aren’t as many scratches these days, which is neither a good nor bad thing. The bruises are still there from time to time, tiny, circular fingerprints on hips and the inside of thighs that tattoo ownership on clean skin. Reminders that they are in this for the long haul.
A decision that others are no longer welcome.
Cal was not Sean’s first, but he’s certainly the most important. In a strange way, Sean’s glad that Cal wasn’t his first, because then he might have taken them for granted more than he probably already does. Sean tries not to abuse what he has with Cal, but it doesn’t always work; Sean will always be Sean.
He can alter some things about his personality, but not everything. By choice and design. He will never change completely.
However, he is willing to bottom; he thinks that’s a good concession after all this time.
All Cal had to do was ask.
::
The sex used to be fierce. Desperate, hard and harsh as though every time might be the last. As though one morning one would wake up, realize that they were making an earth-shattering mistake, and toss everything away.
Cal would leave love bites everywhere, and Sean would scratch insistently, worriedly. Each thrust was hard and raw, trying leave its own mark of remembrance. There was an unspoken concern that climbed into bed with them every night after the lights went out and before Cal made the first move.
It took Sean a very long time to make the first move, and when he finally did, a new concern reared up: that they would never let go.
::
Their first night together was strange and awkward. They had been living together for almost eight months and had roomed together at the Academy for three years. They ate together, worked together, and tended to pass out in one another’s beds.
To Sean’s mind, the surprise-factor should not have existed at all, but he was wrong. Cal was always proving him wrong, and that night was no exception.
Dinner, ambient lighting, floating candles and all sorts of strange romantic things that Sean held no truck with. The total effect was beyond anything he could have imagined, and Sean found himself completely seduced.
He had never considered himself a bad lover, or even an inconsiderate one, but his first night with Callum was just a never-ending array of new occurrences that Sean didn‘t associate with sex at all.
Chaste kisses over the obligatory vegetable serving, and chocolate ice for desert. Water fights while figuring out the dishwashing program. Sex was called Interference for a reason, and in the end, Sean couldn’t remember if he’d been hard the entire night or if Cal just made him forget everything else around him.
When the time came Cal led Sean to his bedroom, quietly, and Sean followed with a nervousness he hadn’t felt since his first day at the Academy. Sean practically begged Callum to take off his clothes, and then came almost immediately.
Cal just laughed lightly and talked him through it. Whatever embarrassment or frustration Sean felt slipped away into the sheets. They were friends, first, above all else, and when their morning after came there would be no place to run and hide.
::
They fit better now than they did in the beginning.
In the beginning, there were questions and uncertainty and everything was new. The edges were rough and jagged. Almost too much so. Sean worrying about Cal worrying about Sean.
It took them a while to get in sync together. To make that final switch from friends to that something else, but the potential was always there, it was only a matter of time.
It was just something they had to learn.

It's Saturday night, everybody go out and party up!
oh my, please do more!
Date: 2003-07-12 06:24 pm (UTC)I think you meant to say 'led' here.
And man, just wow...
*blinks at thought* You know what? I don't just like the meta of imagining the actors in the reverse roles. You've made me care about Cal and Sean as individuals who are very much alive to me.
Great writing! Thanks so much for this. ;)

*corrects properly* You know it's just not a Zahra story without at least one grammar snafu.

That is easily one of the nicest things you could've ever said about my boys, thank you very much.

This makes my head go to so many wonderful places. Yes, I'm attached to them, and yes you know who they look like in my head, so this:

Made me get all teary. *sniff* In the good way.
Thanks so much for going "there", baby girl.

Me and smut? Pfft. You're the one bending people over in the barn, and 'yay' for that. I'm glad you're enjoying my fledgling attempts, it means a lot to me.
*quick aside with Sean* No, Sean, I can not get you a barn. Boys.

I adore how you've taken the WA universe and built it into a place where we can visit. The parallels make me smile and ache at the same time. Wonderful job, sweets *hugs*

Date: 2003-07-13 12:39 pm (UTC)And I second the comment above about this being the real WA verse for me. I don't care if DC puts out a WA comic, because I have your amazing 'verse here.
*applauds*
