Why is there no mood-icon for ‘in denial’

2. My girl (ethrosdemon) has found popslash. I’m contemplating moving out the commune for my sanity.
3. Okay, so I admit it, I watched OC. Now my first thought when Ryan’s brother decided to steal that car was a) why the hell are you gonna steal that hooptie with no friggin headlights and b) what the hell was that bullshit about being the one to teach Ryan the proper method of stealing a car? Dude, any Neanderthal with a crowbar can break a window and open a lock! (As the show proceeded to show us) what his brother really needed to show him was a “Marketable Skill” like picking the lock of a nice C Class. Idiot.
Also. It is OC, not The OC. I mean what idiot thought that shit up? Who says The New York City? Exactly. But I’ve stayed down there, very nice and beach-oriented. If you like that sort of thing.
Other thoughts? The kid that plays Seth, I remember when he played Justin on SV and thinking, “He’s so cute. He’s so gay. I wonder if he sweats Clark as much as he sweats Chloe?” And now the nice people at FOX have hooked him with a boyfriend, that’s so great. Also, if Russell Crowe was cute, he would be Ryan. I don’t find Russell Crowe attractive, but I find Ryan attractive, sadly, because he reminds me of Russell Crowe I keep changing my mind.
Overall, I like this show. The slashiness is out of control, but I knew I was hooked when they said Ryan was from Chino. I know people from Chino! They’re all exceptionally cool, if not slightly dysfunctional. One love to Chino! I have to write something quick, I see this now.
Buying a New Life
Where Ryan comes from the guys are tough and rugged. They drink all day, and can hold their beer without complaint. Most just barely graduate high school, and they play video games at the local arcade.
They don’t own Play Stations; they steal them.
Guys in Chino don’t go sailing; they don’t even live near the water, but if they did, they’d probably only get near boats to steal parts to buy more beer. Those are the sorts of people that Ryan knows from home.
Where Ryan comes from the guys are manly and male. They don’t have flawless skin and look as though they’ve never shaved a day in their lives. They take what they want, from who they want. They’re not afraid of anything, certainly not of ruining their futures and people knowing where they come from.
Boys from Chino don’t care; and Ryan is from Chino, but Seth is from Newport.
There’s no one like Seth where Ryan comes from, and so he doesn’t quite know how to act around Seth and what to say to him. They go sailing together, even though Ryan really can’t swim, and they play video games together, sitting in Seth’s air-conditioned house where nobody tells them to get the fuck out the way. Although, as far as Ryan’s concerned, it’s not really a house, because he’s lived in a house, and a trailer and an apartment, and where Seth lives is not a house. It’s a fucking mansion, like Seth is one of those kids on repeats of Beverly Hills, 90210.
Seth is that dorky kid who went on to run that club, and Ryan doesn’t know people like that, but right now he knows Seth. And Seth is drunk and slurring on his sofa, and he’s apologizing for thinking that Ryan tried to take Summer from him. He’s making so much noise that Ryan can’t sleep.
Where he comes from, when someone keeps you up, you make them shut up. So Ryan is going to make Seth shut up.
But when he drags himself across the room to where Seth is flailing on the sofa, reeking of beer and salt water and aftershave that he probably doesn’t even need, Ryan can’t think straight. Or at all. Seth has already been hit tonight, but Ryan would never hit Seth, and when he kisses Seth it’s like Ryan’s watching it happen to some other person, because boys from Chino don’t kiss other boys. But when Seth whimpers and clutches at Ryan's hair before kissing him back, Ryan wonders if this is what boys are like in Newport Beach, and if he’ll be allowed to stay.
