Who took the jam out your donut?

One, I am writing canon for the first time in my fandom memory according to
edigo
Two, Minnie Driver can sing. Yes, the actress. Close your mouth before flies get in. I heard her earlier this year live, and she’s just, whoa. If she releases an LP I’m all over it, kids, and I normally don’t listen to female singers because of all the warbling and bad production.
Three, apparently I am moody. Watch out.
Four, sign up for the OCFF if you’re trying to get your hands on some tailor-made OC fan fic. You do have to write something yourself though, don’t think this is all take and no give. All genres welcome. Sekrit het shippers should get their arses over there, too. Just saying.
Five, I have 37 icons. 21 of these have been provided by
obsessedmuch, because my begging is effective on her. *loves lar*
I also have 3 from
marleigh and
semisuper, 2 from
pandarus, and 1 from
lugonn,
serialkarma,
slodwick,
spasticat,
taraljc,
valentinemichel, the fine girls at dapper designs and another from Pretty Pieces of Paper.
Cheers to everybody who’s heeded my howling pleas and hours of trawling.
Six, there should be something reading worthy in this space tomorrow. I’ve heard there’s smut involved.
ETA: I heard a rumor that somebody actually made a Telegraph Avenue mix, is this true? What's on it? Will you tell me? Do you like it?

Yeah, she can sing. Doncha remember her cameo in 'GoldenEye', she was the Russian mobb bosses girlfriend who was singing 'Stand By Your Man' in the bar that James went to go see. It was hilarous.
Apparently, 'actresses who can sing' dig Stand By Your Man. Gina Gershoan (my songstress of choice, thanks to Prey for Rock & Roll), sings it undercover in 'Snoops'.
Dumb trivia dropped for the day. :-)

So I get that. heh heh...
Gina's in LA again? I thought she was touring! Hmm... must be taking a break.
Was she pretty? I bet she was pretty.

Date: 2003-11-11 05:50 pm (UTC)As for what's on it, I had to modify the list you provided to fit in on one CD. The Ryan Adams, Weezer, Ramones went easily because I know and love them all anyway. I kept Matt Nathanson despite the fact that Miracles is one of my favorites and I know it well--they saw him! Some I couldn't find non-sabotaged versions of (50 Cent, Talib Kweli), so that helped. Some I couldn't find at all, also helping. (Yes, I was using an illegal file-sharing program, oops?) But I love the mix after the cut a lot, especially the Stone Roses and Doves songs, both of which I'd never even heard of before. So that's nice. Thank you.
1. Fools Gold – Stone Roses;
2. One Man Guy – Rufus Wainwright;
3. I Can – Nas;
4. The Last Broadcast – Doves;
5. Sympathy for the Devil – The Rolling Stones;
6. Mojo Pin – Jeff Buckley;
7. A Movie Script Ending – Death Cab for Cutie;
8. Miracles – Matt Nathanson;
9. Bittersweet Symphony – The Verve;
10. Train in Vain – The Clash;
11. 19-2000 – Gorillaz;
12. Elevators - Outkast;
13. Check the Rhime – A Tribe Called Quest;
14. Crazy About You – Whiskeytown;

16. Everything in its Right Place – Radiohead;
17. Angel – Massive Attack;
18. Rock the Casbah – The Clash

Date: 2003-11-12 09:31 pm (UTC)Holy shit, and I also loved my first ep of The OC - last week's, watched Monday with phineas et al. Loved in the sense of the omfg Seth/Ryan and how completely I knew both of their voices already. Jesus christ, I don't think you could write them more in character if you were one of the show's actual writers.
I've got lots more to say on this topic, which will wait for another moment, but I wanted to jump in to say dude on the mix. Or something.

Date: 2003-11-12 12:02 pm (UTC)Don't listen to that viscous slander. Ryan and Seth may have hugged in the Pilot. But a certain Kansas couple pressed lips in their premiere episode? Huh??
The problem is Clex are star-crossed lovers (mostly due to Clark's overprotective, controlling, homophobic father) while the Cohens, after an initial rejection by Kirsten, seem to be accepting the relationship. So, of course, the Seth/Ryan thing is more openly part of the canon with the Clex thing is clearly present in canon, but repressed.
Lex has been in a series of doomed relationships with women who were using him. Clark chasing after a woman he knew he could never have in an effort to feel "normal" without having to do anything about it. Clark couldn't deal with losing Lex in another marriage (asking him to be best man was rubbing salt in the wound Lex, I noticed you weren't particularly surprised when Clark never showed up), and ran away from home. [Does that remind you of another young couple who wanted to run away together since Seth's mother wanted to split them up????] When Jonathon was forced between accepting his son and losing him forever, he finally welcomed Lex into the family. Lex promptly ditched his wife out the plane door.
It's canon baby, don't let them convince you otherwise.
Just think, if Jonathon Kent had been a more understanding, open-minded father, Lex Luthor the super-villain might never have been born.
