Bad news: I knew it was going to happen, I could feel it, but I prayed otherwise. Unfortunately, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay *is* indeed being made into a movie. Production starts in March 2004, and I will have more details as I collect them. I must go sharpen my knives now.

Good news: I saw Return of the King today thanks to the always up-for-it [livejournal.com profile] kattiya. And dude it was so good words cannot begin to describe my love for Peter Jackson. I want to throw myself at his feet and attach myself to his ankles to be close to his greatness. He could now make a movie about peeling potatoes and I'd still be all over it.

More good news: We had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] happyminion and [livejournal.com profile] nebt_het and got everyone’s favorite Southern belle to try raw oysters and sushi. We’re all very proud.

Fry-ups are "good".
Liverpool winning is "good".
Seeing RotK was up there with having sex with [insert object of lust]in a public place, when your hair is perfect and you're freshly waxed and wearing your favorite shoes (if you're into that kind of thing) *smirk*.

"Good" is not the right word.

*throws up big Valley girl sign*

What. Ever!

We leave the conspiracy theories to Dan Brown and Alias. As far I know it was totally unplanned. They were in the area, we were in the area, we met up on the fly and dragged Wendi to sushi because we were ravenous and willing to club our prey hungry.

Right?

None of us LA girls are cool enough. ;-P It's the hair, isn't it?

I step out with a very graceful 'it wasn't my planned trip, I was invited along'. And then I duck and run for cover, because I don't KNOW!

Why are y'all giving me Southern Guilt? Argh!

I was terrified going into that place and a roly-poly glutton rolling out of it. *g*

I reserve "like" for food and good television shows.

RotK fell into the insane worship category belonging to Emma Frost comics, Ferraris, Harry Potter legos and seeing Ryan Adams live.

Last I heard, Chabon was writing the screenplay himself. That was a while ago, but if that's still true, I'm going to refrain from judgment until more information becomes available.

*sulks*

Don't be rational. I hate when you're rational when I'm trying to sulk. Someone below (see commnts) said they were considering Adrian Brody, I think I'd wanted him in my theoretical casting (do you remember this convo?) I didn't mean for them to make the movie though!

*cradles book protectively*

It's my only! My precioussssss.

*pets* It's okay. Nothing's happened yet. Save your energy.

Yeah, I remember talking about that. But you wanted him for Joe, which makes much more sense to me. He is just not right for Sammy. Sammy is short and very hairy and in my head looks a little bit like Stephen Hawking, which sounds far worse than it looks. Really.

We've had sushi in the south for years. We just call it bait.

*jealous*

Soo very jealous.

Ok and I apologize for being ignorant but is it a bad thing that they are making that book into a movie? (I am unfamiliar with it)

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312282990/qid=1070828973//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i0_xgl14/002-4717379-9504808?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) is not just a book; it's a life altering experience, and as somebody who's read a whole a lot of books I don't say that lightly. It might be the only book I've ever read that I've loved so deeply the first time I read it. Quite simply it lives up to the title; it really is amazing.

Read it; it'll improve your way of life.

I read somewhere that they're fingering Adrian Brody for the part of the American.

You know, when I cast this *theoretically* in my brain, I totally thought of him as Joe and not Sammy. If he's offered it, he better take it. I'm just saying.

Last I heard, it was a Scott Rudin film with a Chabon screenplay. Here's hoping for the best.

Dude. I saw RotK last week and it was just amazing. Also, gay. But mostly, amazing.

Sometimes I don't spell so good.
