1. George Eads and Jorja Fox were sacked from CSI? Damn.

2. We're getting our own pool boy on The O.C.?! Hot damn. (Please note that this link also has GG and SV spoilers in it, but scroll to the bottom for the OC stuff)

3. ETN: [livejournal.com profile] meret made this SV fairytale, which is just brilliant. (FYI: it takes a while to load b/c it's graphic heavy).

Strangely enough, I felt like writing Smallville fic. Perhaps I have a temperature.

Smallville
Lex/Clark
Times Infinity

i.

The first time Clark Kent rescues him, Lex is too shocked to question how or when or what or anything beyond the fact that he hasn't been crushed by several tons of metal in a creek that's deeper than it looks upon first glance. Lex is too busy appreciating the second chance he's been given to think of anything beyond 'life' and 'air' and 'thank fucking Christ' and ‘who was that kid?’

*

The second time he’s rescued by Clark Kent, Lex knows that something slightly suspect is occurring, but he’s too busy staring at Clark’s mouth and Clark’s hands and Clark’s everything to press for answers. Clearly it’s his own fault.

*

The third time Clark rescues him, Lex actually asks what the hell is going on, but apparently that’s not allowed, because rather than answering him, Clark colors and turns away. He’s gone before Lex can even get the rest of his sentence out.

*

The fourth time Clark kisses Lex rather than letting him finish the query they both know is coming out. As far as distraction techniques go it’s pretty damn effective – and some time tomorrow Lex will realize that he’s being played at full tilt.

ii.

The second time that Clark kisses Lex, Lex is just as surprised as the first time it happened. He’s entirely too old not know what to do with his hands or how to respond, but there’s something about Clark that makes him a little clumsy. There’s something about Clark that puts Lex a little bit off center. The naked eye couldn’t catch Lex’s hesitation, but Clark pulls away as though he can.

*

Their third kiss is sharper than the first two. Lex knows when he’s being played, but it’s hard for him to stop what’s happening when he’s wanted this for so long. He tells himself that the truth isn’t going anywhere. He tells himself that he can wait just a little bit longer.

*

The first time they fuck, Lex pretends that there’s not someone else in the room with them. He pretends that Clark isn’t using his body to distract Lex from whatever lies Clark’s trying to spin, and for a little while Lex almost forgets. For a little while Lex is content with being Clark’s first. But eventually the euphoria wears off.

Lex thinks ‘a little while’ used to last a long longer.

iii

Lex asks and Clark evades. Lex asks again and Clark lies. Clark says that love is enough – but Lex isn’t really sure of that at all. He thinks the truth should be part of love, and clearly that’s where he’s going wrong. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result at some point.

iv.

The first time Lex pulls away, Clark apologizes and begs for time.

*

The second time Lex pulls away, Clark offers him some lame excuse about needing his privacy. He says that Lex should understand. Lex understands not being trusted all right; it doesn’t matter what Clark says.

*

The third time they fight, Clark accuses Lex of all sorts of unspeakable things. He says that Lex never loved him at all. He says Lex is using him. Lex doesn’t even realize that he’s been manipulated until after Clark is gone.

v.

It’s only after Clark has left, that Lex realizes that they could do this forever. He will offer himself and Clark will find him lacking. He will ask for the truth and Clark will lie. It’s his lot in life – their lot in life to play these parts for as long as they’re together, and Lex can end the cycle now or they can do this forever. Except that Lex has never been a conventional kind of man, and maybe this is the only kind of forever he can have in his life.
