So, I was thinking today about slash in general and how easy we have it today (LJ, e-mail, Internet) compared to the old skool fandoms like Star Trek and Starsky & Hutch, which had to pimp their stuff in three feet of snow going uphill in both directions. They had it rough no doubt, but then I was thinking about the real back in the day slashers and how rough it must have been for them, because you know when Pride and Prejudice came out back in 1813 there had to be at least two women in the world who thought Darcy and Bingley were having at it in Netherfield. I mean c'mon look at the name of the house, Netherfield, people? More like Large Shack O'Love.

What? Don't tell me you don't see it.

Also, Entourage fans (all eight of us) [livejournal.com profile] dammitcarl made us a community! [livejournal.com profile] the_guesthouse. Run, fly, drive like Drama and Turtle trying to get laid!

I must use this icon in honor of your perceptiveness.

You know, the corset sure was a hinderence in sitting comfortably whilst cranking out neatly-penned copies of the latest 'zine. And postage! Why, my dear father had to frank so many packages to sundry London address that he swore I would bankrupt him.

Just think about what it was like to labour over a story for days, weeks, months and then have to wait like days for the beta to be sent and done and then come back by *post*, and then have to labour all over again and do another copy by hand with a quill and ink. All that parchment. God, it must've taken years to put zines together.
