Can I just testify that I knew I was in trouble when Seth and Ryan were in the guesthouse getting ready for school and Seth was lamenting over his hair and then he said 'I should do more catching and less pitching' and I spewed (yes, really) Sapporo all over the sofa. My bad! It was my first sign of the night the that hackthis vendetta against selfish-Seth might be breaking. Damn you, Joshua!

So then there was the whole Summer being so adorable thing when they were talking about the time share boyfriend that torchthisnow and I share Zach, and my brain said uh oh -- beware. I didn't know Zach was a politican's son. Also, was anybody else getting mega gay vibes off him, cos I sure was? I mean, like, gaydar-breaking type-stuff. Huh. Maybe Summer's decided to just have a really good friend.

I so love Sandy. Sandy is the best dad, husband, lawyer ever with his whole 'do the Martha Stewart' -- and 'supervised visitation!' Who loves Sandy? We love Sandy.

I'm not feeling the new Ryan-love interest. She's just too, well she reminds me of Hermione from Harry Potter, and her holier than than thou is irksome. But you know that whole 'God doesn't give with two hands' thing was sharp -- and then at the end when she was apologising. Oh dear, don't make me revise my judgement.

More Summer love when she was watching The Valley (That's right 8 to 9 on Thursdays, bitches!) -- did anybody hear that off-screen 'what do you mean she's preganant?' from the TV? Oh, how Theresa and Ryan -- I nearly died.

Clearly this episode was all about personal growth. If you didn't know it, well both Seth and Julie are attempting to find it.

Who loved the whole Seth is now blue collar while Ryan is a dork thing? ::loves:: Also, here's a big ol' shoutie to the writers for that fantastic continuity for the last concert Ryan and Marissa attended together. Yes, the Oliver thing -- you better make fun of it, because we sure did.

Joshua, you are batting .500 with the new people. I don't like the Lindsey chick, but I love rocker-chick with the purple hair who calls her mommy and daddy. Also, dude, um, tell me more about The Walkmen. Damn you!

I swear, dude, Julie & Jimmy are going to get back together.

How cute is Ryan now that he's talking more and being all snarky? He is so crushing on Seth vs last year when Seth was all crushing on him. Also, look at all the touching!! So gay! So v v gay. Oh, this episode was good. I am loving the Seth/Summer/Zach triangle I admit, although if we must have canon, I am pulling for Seth/Summer. Maybe she can make him a better man.

Also, the ending, oh the ending killed me. Although I am v v confused by the whole Seth & Marissa friendship since the last time they were together Seth was ripping her a new one, but hey, can't have it all.

ETA: Is it wrong that I feel like maybe Marissa got implants? Her breasts just seem bigger than last year, especially considering how skinny she is. Huh. I will not think about this a lot.

In two weeks:

Ryan tries to find Seth a beard! Zach finds Seth trying to make out with Ryan and lays a smackdown! Somebody's playing hide the salami with a really tiny hat! hackthis takes Seth off the The Shit List! Chrismukkah! YAY!!!

New love interest a little tweedy, but so much better than Marissa that watch me not care. Purple haired girl irks me just because she's another 37-year-old teenager. Make her 22 and I'd like her.

Julie Cooper owns me, my family, you, your family, our properties, our vehicles, and our clothing, which she donated to Goodwill because it was beneath her style.

They let Seth and Marissa have scenes together after Marissa spent the summer with her acting coach. Before then it would have been cruel.

Zach is too nice. Either we are supposed to Luke him, or he's secretly a pedophile or a dealer or something.

I do like that Summer is not trying to string either guy along. When Zach asked, she was up front about the confusion. What a GOOD PLAN OMG communication. Crazy talk.

Oh man I can't wait for the Chrismukkah episode. Especially now that he has a little yarmulklaus to go with it. I'm a bit surprised Seth didn't come up with it himself.

Anyway I wasn't feeling the new chick either. It kind of surprised me because if she's supposed to be the antithesis of Marissa she should be likeable. Or is Joshua still fooling himself into believing that Marissa puts the fun in dysfunctional?

I kind of have a fear that Marissa and Seth will somehow hook up this season. The scenes with them together just rubbed me the wrong way.

I love the new guy, though. I don't want him to invariably fuck up and lose Summer to Seth, which, let's face it, will happen eventually. Later than sooner I hope. Unless Ryan admits his love, which could happen as he's talking this season.

I read this blog, The Pool House, (which is now gone) but he's been giving out clues to the episodes...since he has watched it until episode 10, I think. And he was trying to defend Zach from the Oliver accusation. And he said something to the effect: "Don't worry because he's really--" And leaves it at that.

And I don't know why but my mind supplied the word "gay." I don;t know why but I'm excited about this, much more so when My Gay Dad aka Carson Ward came out. I would like to see how the gang reacts to someone who's gay in their own ranks (and not just a parent).

But a little concern: If Zach turns out to be gay, don;t you think this is too Dawson Creek, where Joey dates the closeted Jack?

I watched last night's ep with two friends of mine who are dating (boy/girl type deal) and had a coughing fit over the "more catching less pitching" comment but I couldn't talk about it OMG!! Because they are not slash friendly. Although people are trainable, because I have my two male co-workers who watch Smallville well-prepared for the 'hands-over-my-ears-la-la-la Lex and Clark are reading the Sunday paper together and going jet-skiing tomorrow because they are in lurve' reaction to any mention of the show's descent into ev0l.

Word on the Marissa implants - I totally thought that in the last episode already. Although 18 sounds a little young - but hey, it's Hollywood. And how depressing, really, to get a boob job at 18.

I completely agree with you on Lindsay. Smug, irritating, but now an dthen with a little flash of wit which makes it better (and that scene with Ryan in school at the end was sweet. And she made him laugh.

It was so obvious that each character was trying to do be all about the personal growth that it just felt so forced. Alright, we get that Seth is selfish, but once they acknowledged it ten times in one episode, it became a bit much, you know? I want the normal, funny, dorky, and insecure Seth back! Now!

The reason Lindsay kinda sorta bugs? She looks like Lindsay Lohan, in my opinion, and I was getting all these beginning of Mean Girls vibes from her first moments at the school. I loved Mean Girls and everything, but just. no. No, Josh, no. I did end up liking her in the end, with the apology, but I really like her as a foil for Ryan, because I loved him in their scenes. From clumsy to awkward to annoyed, now with even more with the talking!

I like her better than The Bait Shop After Dark chick, because that hair was just Wrong. And that girl was 17 when Brandon and Dylan were in high school. Also? no way is a seventeen-year-old the de facto boss (Nat! HEE!) in a place that sells alcohol. Just...no. Why couldn't she have been 22 or so? I would've accepted that!
