I have a favour to ask of you lot (no, not body disposal). I have been listening to the same mp3s fifteen times a day for nine months, and really, it's starting to grate and my plot bunnies are starting to riot. So -- I need something new. Something shiny. I need something I've never heard before -- or something I've heard but might have forgotten.

Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses Matt Nathanson, your Tchaikovsky, your Jigga-what Jigga-who, your Ryan or Jeff or Snoop or Weekend Players, Portishead, Morcheeba, Massive Attack. Give me never-released Verve stuff! Give me your much-loved demos. Let's talk live recordings and 90s Brit-rock. Give me Motown and the Stones. The Beatles, the Supremes and the Strokes. Give me your Modest Mouse and other animal bands. Give me something you think I'll love. Give me something you think I've never heard. You have a song that reminds you of me* or Theodore or Seth or Jamie or hey, even Lex? Let me hear it. Please?

Stick on your website. Yousendit. Attach it by carrier pigeon, just you know, hook me up!

C'mon it's not like I'm asking for money blood. Hell, you can just send me someplace where I can DL stuff and I'll be happy -- but then I might wind up unemployed, so yeah, no kazaa or winx. I already have plenty of experience with them. Not of the illegal sort. No, never. Napsterwhat?

* ([livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon and [livejournal.com profile] kattiya have already cornered the market on The Streets 'Fit But You Know It).

Icon courtesy of the lovely [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis, who made me lots of pretties for my birthday. YAY!

ETN: You guys are spoiling me rotten! Don't stop! (Thank you :)

ETN #2: I see now that the way to find out who you people are is not to ask, but to send up a distress cry for music. ::makes note::

I highly, highly recommend Tom McRae. And Vienna Teng.

I'm at work, and unable to send anything now, but maybe tonight...

Copy and pasted for a response to [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana wanting some Libertines. '90s garage, post-punk revival. Or a blatent rip-off of The Strokes via The Clash. Take yer pick.

Boys in the Band (http://s3.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=64537FB7B1B800168B1AD15B825BC3BB): This was the first song that I put on repeat when I first heard the Libertines. It's unabashed, unashamed, and totes about girls taking off their tops. I really dig the slow chorus, fast verse thing. Plus, Carlos singing lead.

Mayday (http://s2.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=4B1C38FD67DB21B17BB124D5B8D12ADD): Punky, shambolic goodness. I just really like this song, especially the thing about being "24 and easily bored." Guess that can apply to any age. Pete sings lead to start, then Carlos takes over.

Half-Cocked Boy (http://s6.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=BBA539DF07D4B73754A4A51C3559D3D2): This track recently surfaced from an infamous studio session in France. Carlos's vocals on the chorus RIP MY HEART OUT AND STOMP ON IT. Pete on verses, Carlos on chorus.

France (http://s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1A07BC2550207E627E48B571AB42DE1B): This is an acoustic live performance by Carlos in the Rolling Stone studios. Soon after he told Pete that he couldn't tour with the band. It's just. AGH. *pets him omg*

Good Old Days (http://s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=C92BA6796AF5DFC5F28FB3513B14BBA1): Here's another live one, with the whole band (well, minus Pete, plus Anthony). This is one of my favorite songs, and the one that made me burst into tears when I saw them in Paris. "The Arcadian dream has all fallen through, but the Albion sails on course." *crycrycry*

My tastes madam?

The Verve, Jeff Buckley, Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, The Bluetones, Stereophonics, Nina Simone, Billie Holliday, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ray Charles, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Turin Brakes, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Four Tops, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Javier, Musiq, Madonna (but before Kabalah), Radiohead, Morcheeba, Portishead, STP, Aimee Mann, John Mayer (before he was famous), Oasis, Travis, Coldplay (I knew their old manager), Gomez, David Gray, The Charlatans, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Beatles, the Stones, not the Who, Blur, Wilco, Whiskeytown, Fiona Apple, Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Eminem, pretty much all old skool rap, but not so much the new, all things Motown and Brit-rock, but not the new British wave of noise -- Franz Ferdinand, etc. Yick. I can do alt-country better than regular country -- and I heart singer/songwriters. I'm not a heavy metaller at all -- but I can do the occasional hard rock. I'm very selective about my punk and my regaulr rock but I draw the line at gospel, Christian and emo. ;)
