You're all fired for not telling me that BBC America was running This Life. Dude, this brings back so many memories. Jack Davenport fans ::looks directly at [livejournal.com profile] latxcvi and [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana:: -- this was The Show in the UK in 1997, and your boy has a Clooney on his head. God, I'd fucking missed Anna and Warren.

I have now done 20-something holiday cards. My hand is going to fall off directly -- as soon as I'm done with this post. And I go blow a hole in my ceiling because the person upstairs clomps around like a fucking Clydesdale! [has rage blackout]

[livejournal.com profile] musesfool will prolly be the only one who cares, but I have to fucking get this out.

OMGWTF THEY KILLED MY BABY!!!

DIE MOTHERFUCKERS, DIE!!!

I admit the Muslim & Omar tag-team was dead cool -- but they killed my baby because Avon gave him up. And Russell Stringer was only going to get him put away for a nickle! That scene on the roof about broke my undead heart, seriously. They were so married. ::sniffles::

Did anybody watch Earthsea on Sci-Fi -- should I bother?

I thought earthsea didn't start until Monday the 13th. Its a toss up there.. Isabella a definite plus but haven't been overly impressed with Sci-Fi lately.

It's only just started up since in the last few months since someone moved in with the person who's already there, but it's like she's got cement shoes on or something.

OMG, yes. That roof scene, where each of them had sold the other out and was saying goodbye without the other one knowing...

I was sure for a minute there that Stringer would find an escape route, but when he didn't... wow.

I'm sad to see him gone, but damn, do I love my show.

OMG, yes. That roof scene, where each of them had sold the other out and was saying goodbye without the other one knowing...

I was so moved. Seriously. And then when Stringer was trapped -- man, my heart nearly gave out. There was a brief second when I thought it would be okay, but then he offered them money and I was like 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!'

omg, This Life. I never saw the show but I used to have this funky little cube they sent out as a promo when the show started airing on BBCA in 99. I could sit and kill a good half-hour playing with it at my desk. If I ever find it, it's yours.

This Life has ruined me for Jack Davenport, 'cos he'll always be Miles to me.

Stop fucking with Anna, Miles!... is something I may have shouted at PotC, on occasion.

He will always be Miles to me. Even when he did Ultraviolet, I was still all 'Miles! EEEEE!'

This Life!

I remember staying up late to watch it on BBC2 on it's original run over here in Blighty. One of the first *realistic* thirty-something dramas I could relate to - which was odd, because I was twelve. I digress.

Warren. Ferdy. That awful ginger guy who stole Ferdy in S2. Get away from Warren's property, you motherf****r!

Even back then, I knew Warren was hot.

And who didn't heart Anna for simply being Anna?

A bit old for your age perhaps? ;) I remember it came on when I was at uni and everybody would rush home from the pub to watch it. Anna was the business, I remember a lot of shouting at Miles for being a fuckwit. Remember Delilah? Yick.

Oh My God! Delilah - that utter skank! I must confess, she'd slipped my mind.

This Life! Oh man, nostalgia.

I saw Jack Davenport as Lord Darlington in Lady Windemere's Fan in London a couple of years ago. Even with co-stars like Vanessa Redgrave, he was brilliant. It was really funny; everyone around me was oohing and ahhing over the scintillating dialogue and in my head was chanting, "Miles, Miles, Miles - eeeeee!" See, you can just tell I'm a discerning patron of the arts.

I remember he did the Ultraviolet series shortly after This Life aired, and while UV was really good, I just kept thinking Miles!Miles!Miles!

OMG, through the computer screen, I virtually touch you because right now, I am oh. So. Envious. I've only seen pictures of him as Darlington and you got to see him in the role for real. *is jealous, OMG*

He was really very good. Darlington has this one speech in the play where he talks about unrequited love and suffering because of it. It only lasts a moment, and it's very oblique, but he just nailed it. I felt like kicking Joely Richardson for rejecting him - nitwit! It also doesn't hurt that he's not too harsh on the eyes. Ahem.

Dude, I was thisclose to being inconsolable once I realized what was coming, because *damn* if that scene on the roof wasn't an homage to the scene in New Jack City where Wesley Snipes smokes Allan Payne. Stringer. Stringer, Stringer, Stringer.

And you know, right, that Jack Davenport and Idris Elba played cop partners in Ultraviolet?

Why yes, yes that combination was pretty much *LaT-nip*, whyever do you ask?

Also, yes, I am so with you on everyone being fired for not telling me about This Life. Except [livejournal.com profile] mimesere. 'Cause was the reason I finally found out it was playing.

OMG - Anna/Miles. Barristers OTP, represent!

I felt like somebody had ripped my heart out my chest, and that homage to NJC was just, *sniff* I love the Wire!

I was in school in the UK when this first aired and it was like a phenomenon, like lost of Desperate Housewives is this year. Everybody would watch it, we'd arrange meeting around it so we wouldn't miss it. Oh, how I heart Anna.

p.s.

I told Sheila that now that Jack Davenport has compellingly and believably played an attorney, he is now officially and will forever be one of my most favoritest things in the history of everything ever.

Seriously. I'm pickier than fuck about who'll I'll accept playing a lawyer anf fortunately, Davenport-as-Miles has not let me down.
