I challenge anybody in their darkest moment to write what they're grateful for, even stupid little things like green grass or a friendly conversation with somebody on the elevator. You start to realize how rich you are. - Jim Carrey *(gacked from [livejournal.com profile] daily_gems)

You know that old adage about how if you can't say something nice -- just don't post? Yeah, well, I wasn't going to post, because the homicidal tendencies are coming fast and loose today, but I decided I would post and talk about good things only.

Five Things That Made Me Happy Today

1. [livejournal.com profile] marginalia's We Blaze Away, which is Oliver/Bill, and I know what you're thinking -- Gryffindors? WTF! But this -- this is just so beautiful and so well done that that's irrelevant. It's not flowery or overwhelming or 800 chapters long; it's just a story, a good story told well. I like those.

2. [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril wrote more Friday Night Lights fic: Keep Me. I haven't read it yet, but it's Nifra, and she wrote Don/Mike -- and I heart Don/Mike. Why isn't everybody out renting copies of this film? It's really good. Really.

3. [livejournal.com profile] tumulus has such an amazing eye for photography. Instead of moving back to London, maybe I'll move back to Scotland. That'd be nice.

4. My first post at [livejournal.com profile] audiography. I bet you don't have to guess who I recommended ;)

5. All of you!

Speaking of which, does anybody have the following mp3 to yousendit to me?

* Top Billin' - Audio Two
* Dust - Van Hunt
* Children's Story - Slick Rick
* Fame - David Bowie
* That blasted song 'Pressure' by The Zutons that I'm pretending not to like

* Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kismeteve, [livejournal.com profile] deeablo, [livejournal.com profile] theantimodel and [livejournal.com profile] nattgli -- oh, and [livejournal.com profile] issaro, because she's adorable.

ETN: Camilla and Charles are getting hitched?! Huh. I mean I saw it coming, but still, huh.

Here's Fame (http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0D7CLI0J4DN7Y3TWY7TTDBKLYZ) I used to have Children's Story, but I don't know what happened to it, damn.

How do you use YouSendIt with LJ? I've never figured that out...

Yousendit has nothing to do with LJ; they're an indepent site. You simply go to the site, upload whatever files you're sending, wait for the link, and then use the link to gain access to the file.

I am so sad I couldn't satisfy your Bowie needs *cries* My poor Bowie collection now feels slighted

I just posted some Zutons songs in my journal. "Pressure Point" is one of them:

Oh, I think I may be in lust: The first results of that can be heard this January with the release of a single called Pressure Point. A dark, New Orleans-flavoured soul classic that - according to McCabe - is about "that first 10 minutes when you get home from work and want to kill everybody"...

Yeah, I think i'm in lust. And they are not 23. Whatever. 16, maybe 17 on a good day.

Aww, the invasion of baby-faced Brit rockers continues. They need to have a playdate with Tom Chaplin. Maybe Abi Harding can sock him with her sax.

Your icon also succinctly sums up my mood right now.
