That's just not on at all.

For what it's worth, I don't think I should have to tell you all how much I stridently disapprove of frienditto. I think it's an incredibly shifty, and shitty, way to piss all over someone else's trust. I keep 98% of my posts and stories unlocked as a matter of courtesy and faith in the people who come here, and I hope no one would abuse that by reposting my entries without my explicit permission.
It's true that nothing on the internet is ever private, but call me old-fashioned, I do still believe that people are honourable if you let them be. Nevertheless, I feel it must be said -- If you have frienditto on your flist, please remove me from your flist immediately.

Date: 2005-03-05 01:00 am (UTC)Let's say I'm on your friends list and for whatever reason I decide to archive a post you have friends-locked. I can go to Frienditto, give them my LJ username and password, and the URL of your flocked post. Frienditto then signs in to LJ with my username and password, retrieves the friends-locked post, and publicly posts it on the Frienditto archive. And you would never know who did the archiving.
So, say I was on your flist, and you friendslocked a post about your evil boss? I could give Frienditto my LJ username and pw, and the URL to that post, and Frienditto would sign in to the LJ system as me and retrieve that flocked post, and post it publicly in their archive. And there's nothing LJ can do about it. It also applies to friends-locked communities - those posts can be publicly archived by anyone having access to the community too.
If you are someone who friendslocks a bunch of posts, either in your LJ or in any given community, understand that they can all be made public by anyone with friends list access now. Also, any public posts (and all their comments) can be archived permanently, and there's nothing you can ever do to remove them."
