Ahem. Does anybody have an mp3 of U2's 'City of Blinding Lights' that they really really want to send me now? Please?*

In return I offer two three artists you may not have heard of, but who, I think, will make your lives better:

a) 4 Hero -- Brought to my attention by [livejournal.com profile] aurgasm, 4 Hero is a ambient/electronica group fronted by two DJs who used to be into hip-hop in the 80s. They get these astounding female vocalists to come in and sing over their beats, and you would think because of their backgrounds that the music would be hard, but it's smooth and uplifting and really gorgeous. Another Day feat. Jill Scott, Les Fleur (the single),

b) Amos Lee -- Also brought to my attention by [livejournal.com profile] aurgasm*, you know I can't have a post without pimping some indie singer/songwriter with a deep, soulful sexy voice that sings my favorite kind of stuff -- sad bastard music (TM). This would be him. Arms of a Woman, Dreaming

Bonus

The Reindeer Section -- The Scottish supergroup with the Irish singer. The Reindeer Section is fronted by Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol!) with music by members of Belle & Sebastian, Arab Strap & Mogwai: Grand Parade, Your Sweet Voice

Tracks from Fiona Apple's long-delayed album, Extraordinary Machine, that the record company won't put out because they don't think it's commercial enough: Get Him Back & Not About Love

* You could also send me random stuff you think I'd like. It's been two whole months since you lot have brightened up my music collection.

** You should prolly just join [livejournal.com profile] aurgasm

City of Blinding Lights is uploading now, and thanks for the Reindeer Section stuff. I'd been meaning to check them out because I adore Snow Patrol and Idlewild and they've both got people involved.

I took the Reindeer Section and the Fiona - thanks, the prospect of trying out the whole Fiona album was a bit daunting. :)

I'm afraid I can't think of anything in particular to hit you with. Any requests, besides the U2?

I love Fiona's stuff; the girl isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Even when it's all fucked up. And alas I can't think of any requests either :O

Do you have The Reindeer Section - Raindrop? If not, do you want it?

Must remember to make a music post soon. Remind me if I don't!

Am cooking chilli right now, then am going to curl up with something undemanding (i.o.w. not my boyfriend), eat dinner and go to bed.

BTW, the text on your icon looks dodgy - did you upload it from on a slow connection? Only it seems to have degraded.

Love the 4 Hero tracks - just what I feel like listening to tonight.

have some Eisley you'd probably like, plus a local band called Medic with that melodic minor harmony grooving you seem to dig with a great male vocalist... not to mention they adore the angst. *shrugs* I can toss em atcha if you're interested.

I am all about male vocalists -- I admit it. I find a lot of female vocalists these days are all about the warbling and vibratto and trying to crack glass with their voices; I'm not into that. Bring'em on :)

(these are both practice tracks... I got my hands on them and adored them, so keep an eye out for these kids. They're gonna break someday.)

and some bonus music:
Lake Trout: (gotta give em a little bit)

Jonatha Brooke: (it's a simple little sad as hell melody with beautiful harmonies, no crazy vibrato I promise)

I've got four songs that I've been in love with lately Here Username/password = pretty/songs :) Will probably be changing the password in a week or two, (for those of you stumbling across these comments later.

Something Pretty is one of the loveliest ballads I've heard in a long time. Drive is pure sex. Waters of March makes me want to walk around in the spring sunshine loving the world and ogling young men, and Just a Ride is a peppy bit of fun. Enjoy.
