After many moons (okay, like seven months), I am pleased to announce that my website, Dysfunctional, is updated. It's all by the grace of [livejournal.com profile] obsessedmuch, because the idea of coding Trade made me feel faint, but it's done, and it's up. Yay! [/shock]

To celebrate, I bring you some music. I know YSI has been having some issues, so please let me know if these don't work so something can be burninated (TM K)

K-Os 'Superstar Part Zero -- Many, many moons ago, when rap was still young and people were on the corners at night beat-boxing and break-dancing, flows were about everyday things like Sesame Street and your new Reeboks. K-Os is a throwback to that. Plus, he's Canadian.

Radiohead 'Bones' -- The Bends is my favourite Radiohead LP, bar none. There's not a weak track to be found, and even the one song I don’t particularly like (Street Spirit) is still better than a lot of the 'good music' that's being played now. Bones is a track about getting older and freaking out and every time Thom croons that he 'used to fly like Peter Pan' I know exactly how he feels.

Nina Simone 'My Baby Just Cares for Me' -- This song may be familiar to some from the Stealing Beauty soundtrack, but I'm telling you that you should know Nina Simone for her fabulous voice more than anything else. Her voice is sweet and melodic and sometimes heartbreaking too.

Starsailor 'Four to the Floor' -- Starsailor's first album Love is Here was a moderate success, and while James Walsh will never be known as the next Thom Yorke writing-wise, they do make good comfortable music. This track isn't like their other songs. It's got a hard beat, which I suspect may have been created during their work with Phil Spector* on their second album.

*Considering the man is on trial for murder and notorious for waving guns around in the studio, I don't have to tell you that this was a little harrowing for the band.

...and...

The theme on [livejournal.com profile] audiography this week is "Summertime" so I've rolled out some songs that, to me, ooze thoughts of hot days and long night, lounging in the beer garden or sticking ice packs in the bed so you can try to sleep through the night. Seriously, what says summer more than sex, drugs and more sex and drugs?

D'angelo 'Cruisin'; Gomez 'Drench'; Snoop Dog 'Gin & Juice'; Sublime 'Summertime'; Turin Brakes 'Pain Killer (Summer Rain)

Hi! You don't know me, but I LOVE K-os! Now I have an excuse to share this! I zipped a bunch of his stuff into one file, headed with a song by reggae rapper Matisyahu. I'm just looking for excuses to share it! It's a megaload so it might take a while to download. Hope you enjoy!

Ooh. Pretty music. *snags three* Thanks! I was having severe issues trying to download something from YSI earlier, and this cheered me up. (It will help soothe the pain of no Doctor Who, heh.)

Hmmm, I see you have fic space, do you need music storage? My host gave me an upgrade so I have whoa more space. You're probably used to yousendit/too complicated etc, but let me know.

Can I go home now? Wah.

Turin Brakes is playing at the Troubador on August...8th, I think, and tickets are only 10 bucks. Thought I would give you a heads up, because the Troubador is kind of awesome when it comes to live music.

Oooh update! Very exciting.

I'm friending you by the way, because I don't check your LJ often enough. Now there's a backlog of fic for me to read (yay!) and all the YSI links are expired :( Hopefully if you're on my flist I'll get the good stuff.

Summertime XD Alas, it is winter where I am. No summer, sex or drugs til December.

Alas, I am too late! If it isn't too much of a bother, would you consider uploading 'My Baby Just Cares for Me' again? I love that song, and I accidentally deleted it from my hard drive.

If it's too much of a hassle, don't worry about it; I just thought I'd ask.
