Maybe I'm just feeling particularly challenged today, but if I'm trying to renew my LJ account because it's expiring (as the numerous e-mail reminders have told me), and it won't accept my credit card because of an error, uh, how the fuck am I supposed to renew my account?

[/rage]

I saw the movie trailer for Jarhead* (Jake Gyllenhaal as a Marine in Desert Storm) and oh, my fucking god. Yeah, that's an opening night special there. That and the Chronicles of Narnia. And that movie with that scar-headed kid, too.

* Did I mention that the tagline for this is 'Welcome to the Suck'? They just *want* me to be rabid; I can see it already.

[sekrit to [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril]: See it! Garrett Hedlund is the most adorablest punk wanna be ever! Plus, nekkid bits! Phwoar! [/sekrit out]

Also, everyone really has to see Prison Break because Wentworth Miller Blaise is the hottest thing evar! Oh, I am so good with the casting.

ETA: I could rant on the whole published authors slagging off fanfiction authors for not being published, or their implying that fanfiction authors don't have the abilty to get published, but frankly I don't have the patience to wade through that much stupidity, especially considering all the fanfiction authors who are published authors, so I'll simply say this:

I don't want to be published; I don't feel the need or the desire.

I am not jealous of people who are published.

I am not suffering from some latent worry that I'm not good enough. I don't need my name in lights or on some book index. That's not my goal in life. I write because I love it, just like any other author, published or not, my being unpublished does not make me a lesser individual. Live Journal gives me a venue to display my writing, an interested audience, and access to subject matter I enjoy. Why would I ever want to create more stress with deadlines and editors, and Merlin only knows what else?

Yeah, thanks but no.

I'm fairly certain that 'The Suck' is a nickname Marines have for The Corps.

How cute.

But I agree, the trailer does look awesome. However, I'm still not convinced about Jake Gylenhaal's hotness. I don't get it.

I understand that upon first glance Jake may not seem like Teh Hotness, that's because he's not. He's the dork. And then he's all bumbling and fumbling, but strangely capable hotness. It sneaks up on you.

Jake Gyllenhallalalalal is going to be in the movie of Jarhead? Between that and learning a certain male casting spoiler about House, I may have to wet myself.

*scurries off to find trailer*

The Jarhead trailer almost made me leave the theatre before the film even started to find a nice quiet place.

some of my favorite authors are fanfiction writers *blinks* I don't see a difference whether or not you're publish on paper or if you write online, as well, I read alot more fic online than off and the people online are just amazing.

Okay, I'm new to your journal, although you know some of my friends, but I felt the need to add a hell yeah to that eta. And request that I may steal it and shove it in people's faces when they get into mine. Because yes. Exactly. It's a hobby and I want it to stay a hobby, which is what works best for me. Why is that so hard for others to grasp?

Word.

You are an amazing writer, that won't change whether you're published or not. And all of us here thank you from the bottom of our hearts for writing wonderful fics for us to pore over and squee over when we finish them.

People should mind their own buisness about that sort of thing. It really isn't their prerogative.

Urk. It just bugs me.

In a way you are published...I mean your work is, essentially, out there. You're getting feedback and responses, and you really do have a sort of following on here.

(Haha yesterday I was looking through fics and happened on this rec site where I was linked to a story only to be reading halfway through and realize you were the author.)

If you really wanted to you could most likely get published; don't let those people tell you otherwise. But it's always your choice whether or not you actually want to be published.

Anyway, just yeah, I completely agree with you.

I don't remember now, this was all pre-holiday and I've wiped my memory from that time, but the whole crux (I think) was that non-published authors were all talentless hacks who were jealous of published authors.

I think the next time that happens you should tell people about how I tried really hard to convince you to write a book and then you broke a nail trying to kill me.

Yes, but thankfully the nail grew back :D
