It my ongoing effort to pimp Things Wot I Love, today I am pimping some SGA things to those who have just gotten on the bandwagon. *cough[livejournal.com profile] antheiacough*

The first thing I am pimping is a vid. I very well may have pimped it before, but you know that was like months ago or whatever. So, firstly, Atlantis! By [livejournal.com profile] sherrold and [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords, which is SGA done to Oklahoma. Yeah, that Oklahoma. I watch this video a lot. Almost as much as I watch [livejournal.com profile] lim's This is How it Works. I wish I could explain the awesomeness of Atlantis, but really you have to see it for yourself, because well, the farmer and the cowman should be friends. *dies* I have to go watch Oklahoma now or something.

My second recommendation is for [livejournal.com profile] scrunchy's Chasing Sheppard, which yes, I've already recommended before too, but you know I obviously keep coming back to it for a reason. It's an AU. Based on a movie. Try to stick with me. I know there are lots of people who have 'comfort fics'; I don’t. I have stories that burrow under my skin and make me hurt, and holler at the computer screen, and say 'Oh, well -- well shit.' This is one of those stories. Not pretty, not pleasant, but oh so very real, and so very good. It's not about SGA, it's not about Chasing Amy either, it's mostly about getting in your own way, and I think we all know what that's like.

And because too much SGA isn't good for the blood, I'm dragging out the story that not only introduced me to [livejournal.com profile] fryadvocate's work, but also made me offer her my first born. Repeatedly. The Best Part of Breaking Up, which is, uh, Barbie!fic. Wait! Wait! Before you run screaming into the night, just hear me out. The author says its crack!fic, and it is, but for anybody who ever owned a Barbie doll and a Ken doll it's like the epiphany of all time, because you always knew somebody with plastic hair wasn't right for the most fabulous doll ever.

Okay, I am off now. Be nice to the other children. Don’t poke anybody in the eye with a crayon. Sign up for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide before November 2nd. Remember that the word of the day is 'pornery' as brought to you by [livejournal.com profile] etben, who says pornery: an adjective describing that state of squinty-eyed long-day fuck-a-bunch-of-you mean-ass cussedness for which the only remedy is porn.

ETA: I threw together a quick zip of Things Wot [livejournal.com profile] hackthis is perving, err grooving on right now, for those feeling curious/up for it. There'a little rap (Lupe Fiasco), a little country (Jeffrey Foucault), a little sad bastard (M. Ward), a little hipster (Get Set Go), you know, something for everybody.

I owe you feedback like wo, and also, as I just read yesterday's post, fandom introduced me to crazycakes. And by fandom, I mean Kassie.

You're SO not supposed to shout me out like that. *sighs* Nevermind that now I'm gonna have to go look at this stuff, and I'm going to be seriously put out if I wind up loving it.

And everyone should read everything [livejournal.com profile] fryadvocate writes, because she's awesome. Ahem.

I don't really keep tabs on SGA, I just tend to read a lot of it :)

Not to bitch, but since Smallville has made a come back with the goodness- any sm recs? recent, old, anything- all my fave authors jumped ship to Atlantis. like a conspiracy. might be something in the water.

Speaking of which, I remember the very vehement refusals to watch Atlantis in this journal, and I quote, would never write the fic...
(i love fandom: oh, word for yesterday's post- fandom whore- because everyone ends up there.) the problem is you end up saying these things in real life, and end up telling your friends 'I'm such a word whore.' (the new geek)

I have a set of recs here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=hackthis&keyword=The+Things+You+Love+%28Reccs%29&filter=all), but this is by no means concise, since a) I haven't updated it in about a year, and b) a lot of stuff wasn'a available to be linked to via LJ when I was doing this and c) A lot of authors I've loved have left fandom since then, but you know, give it a whirl. And also I plead the fifth on SGA. I mean, okay, I never said I wouldn't READ it, and -- and it's practically the only large fandom still churning out new consistent material that's not SN, and you are not allowed to mention that fandom to me ever. Infidels the lot of them.

Ok, 1. I'm immensely flattered by that, thank you very much. & 2. I would have bet good money that I had you friended.

I would have lost that money. And that's sad.

I only try to call it like I see it. I read a lot of SGA, and sometimes it all runs together, but Chasing Sheppard, yeah, not so much so. I'm not a fan of the film, but I am a fan of your story.

Girl, I done took yer zip.

I ask you, where have you been all my life? Not only do I get old favorites, I get new crazy, AND artists that I have recently discovered/ seen live/ didn't know anyone else knew.

That being said, I got hit on by drunk Joe Purdy Friday night.

Not related to this post at all, but I have few questions regarding your preferences on things like disclaimers and pictures for your fics going on the PSA. (I'm your pathetic coder who confused you and [livejournal.com profile] zaganthi and I didn't realize it until about 5 minutes ago. Therefore, I lose.)

ANYWAY. What is your preferred disclaimer (right now I'm using the one about JKR putting in brooms)? And also, am I allowed to use the images provided in your fics (namely, 'Trade' and 'Twentysomething' (which is love and which I will probably spend 2 1/2 coding because I feel compelled to read over and over again *shakes fist at*)? If yes, is direct linking okay, or should I upload to another server?

*waits for mocking and laughing to start*
