6. While we're on the FNL topic Story Recommendation Alert: [livejournal.com profile] them0rgue wrote some absolutely stellar Saracen fic, called Fall Asleep in the Fast Lane, which is Matt and Landry and pie and just... DUDE. Spoilers for the pilot nothing more. It's Matt Saracen being adorable and astute and this is so how it should be done. I'm just in awe at the brilliance of how [livejournal.com profile] them0rgue managed to convey what makes Matt Matt here. Rock on. Read it NOW! *thanks [livejournal.com profile] askmehow

7. I've posted more in the last two days than I've posted in the last two WEEKS. Ah, [livejournal.com profile] yuletide procrastination.

The linky to [livejournal.com profile] them0rgue's story is busted, and I am sad. I want to know what this FNL stuff is all about.

OMG! FNL! FNL. Okay, first. The story (http://them0rgue.livejournal.com/35907.html#cutid1), which you will love. And then, then we will take it from there.

I am strangely compelled by that story. Yes. Strangely...compelled. This "Matt" creature interests me. Also, for some reason, the Riggins, who hardly makes an appearance in the story and yet is somehow gripping.

And yet: teenagers playing football. This cannot end well, is my thinking.

Hmmm. So. Stories. Are there other stories? Are there pairings I should know about?

*notes collection of links below*

Possibly I should go investigate, huh?

I wasn't going to pimp myself and then I said 'Whatever man, Modesty is for Suckers (http://hackthis.livejournal.com/408968.html)!

*My inner Rodney no doubt*

Let's see, on a play by play bases it's v simple: Jason Street is the Quarterback of the Dillon Panthers. He's the Golden Boy. Tim Riggins is the high school fullback. He's the Bad Boy. They are BFF. They are also OTP (see my story)

Jason has a girlfriend Lyla. She's a cheerleader. Literally.

Jason got hurt in the first game of the season -- neck injury, paralyzed from the waist -- and Tim kind of fell apart. Lyla went into comfort/denial mode. Tim refused to see Jason in the hospital. Instead, he was so distraught that he and Lyla started having sex. A lot of it. She's a surrogate for Jason IMO.

With Jason out of commission in steps the rookie, Matt Saracen. Matt is well, Matt is just sheer adorableness. He's the Little Engine that could, who has the nerdy friends and is now straddling both social strata.

Um, there is also Smash, who is all attitude and quick feet. Tim and he don't get along, even though they all love Jason.

There is Coach Hotass, err, Taylor who keeps them all together. He and his wife have sex. A lot. They genuinely seem to like each other. I know, real shocker. They also have a daughter, Julie, she has a crush on Matt. And he likes her too. Better yet she's really ornery, you kind of can't help but like her.

I think that's FNL in a nutshell.

To [livejournal.com profile] hackthis:AND LANDRY. Don't forget to tell her about Landry!

To [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine: Landry is Matt's BFF and Julie totally 'ships them. I'm just sayin', it's canon.

*pats you*

Oh, honey. You say that like I actually have a television. I don't; I have a device that serves as a monitor for my PS2 and DVD player. It does not receive a broadcast signal, though. That would be beyond weird.

(This is why I'm not doing that meme that's going around where people describe canons they've never seen - I mean, that's my whole fandom existence, so I don't need a special meme for it. Virtually all my TV canons are ones I've never seen, or hardly ever. I'm the bad kind of special!)

But! I will watch the newsletter and am reading all your links with joy. Soon we will all be able to pretend I have some passing idea who these people are, and then there will be no stopping me.

The episodes are available to watch on NBC.com! You don't even have to have a TV. You see I am trying rilly hard here, yes? :D Also, you are the fabulous kind of special, yis.

Okay, now. Friday Night Lights. A TV show (http://www.nbc.com/Friday_Night_Lights/) based on a book (http://www.amazon.com/Friday-Night-Lights-Town-Dream/dp/0306809907/sr=8-2/qid=1163536590/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-4343312-9505458?ie=UTF8&s=books) (I couldn't get through it myself), which also had its own movie (http://www.amazon.com/Friday-Night-Lights-Widescreen-Thornton/dp/B00005JNEW/sr=8-3/qid=1163536590/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/103-4343312-9505458?ie=UTF8&s=dvd) (which I loved).

Here is a cheat sheet (http://caitiedidit.livejournal.com/343882.html). [livejournal.com profile] lyra_sena has some fandom links here (http://lyra-sena.livejournal.com/176916.html?mode=reply). There is a comm here (http://community.livejournal.com/fridaynight_tv/) for write-ups and various fiction and links to press. Someone also did an all inclusive set of comms, but I can't find it right now. I will keep looking naturally.
