The Rainbow Drabbles
inspired and dedicated to:wyoluvr,rosenho, and evil_man
Cornflower Blue (SV)
All the world is in color to an artist, and Justin is many things, but he is first and foremost an artist. He lives for the smell of acrylic pains and just-sharpened pencils. His biggest joy comes from a fresh canvas and new ideas.
Justin sees color where there is none. He sees beauty everywhere without even trying. In the clean lines of a sheet of paper and the crisp rounding edge of a notebook. In the separation of mortar and brick, and sky and land.
Justin sees beauty in broken bones and broken pencils. He still has bits and pieces from his first box of crayons, and his favorite color is cornflower blue.
He thinks that all colors are beautiful. Ochre and puce, vermilion and azure. The golden yellow and cherry red of the Crows mascot is just as amazing as the olive green of the walls of the school. Anything is vastly preferable to the maudlin cream of hospital walls and Pepto Bismol pink of nurses' uniforms.
Justin is entranced by the brilliant chartreuse of Chloe’s latest coat, and the luminescent pink of her full-bodied laugh. He’s known for a long time that Chloe is the girl for him. When he looks at her he sees all the colors of the rainbow.

Shades of Red (HP)
Ron is a lot of things, but ordinary is not one of them. His hair is many colors, but it’s never simply one shade.
Red is a color, but it’s so basic that it never fully describes the object in question. Grass isn’t simply green and the sky isn’t just blue. Ron’s hair isn’t just red; it’s crimson and brick red. It’s a brilliant shade of reddish-orangish-yellow but it looks golden in the sunlight... and in candlelight and in the dinning hall and during Divination.
Harry’s is enthralled by the way Ron’s hair seems to glow like a halo when it’s backdrop is white bed linen or Harry's pale fingers. Ron is a lot of things, but he’s not just red. His hair isn’t just one colour. Harry can’t understand how anyone could ever think Ron could be summed up so simply, so concisely.
Ron is not a colour.
He’s not just a brother or a friend or a son or a student. He’s a lover and a chess player and he’s smart, and Harry’s completely enamoured of him. Ron is every color of the rainbow and every shade of red, and every time Harry puts on his Quidditch robes he thinks of Ron. He thinks of all the shades of red.

Bruise(SV)
It’s not purple as much as it’s lavender, violet, heliotrope and ameythst with a dash of green throw in.
It’s not green as much as it’s moss, olive, verdant and emerald with a dash of blue tossed into.
It’s not blue as much as it’s pale and translucent and vivid and omnipresent.
It’s not a bruise as much as it’s a property mark.
It’s not about Lex as much as it’s about Clark.

Spectrum (HP)
Green grass, green scarves and green eyes. Draco’s tired of green.
Silver hair, silver houses and silver cloaks. Harry prefers gold.
Red eyes, red scars and red Quidditch robes. Draco makes it a point to wear red trainers to Potions.
Golden hair, golden voices and golden lions. Harry thinks that Draco glows in the dark.
When they come together it’s like the moon has fallen into the sea and the entire world is lit up from within. Draco suspects that Harry Potter is the fabled treasure at the end of the rainbow, and he wonders when Harry had a chance to steal his heart and put it on display for all the world to see.

Ron's hair is like a thousand smashed crayons bleeding together. It's like thin veins of copper and gold running unmined through rocks.
Harry should be so lucky.

i think my favorite might be 'bruise', but i also enjoyed 'shades of red' and 'spectrum' too much to count them out of the running and yum. just yum.
