I'll be back (Terminator: The Series)

Everytime I find myself fandomless, I think about "retiring" and then inevitably something comes along and says, 'not, yet bitch!' The O.C., did this. So did RPS. And Heroes. And then there was this weekend, with it's Psych premiere, and The Wire, which I'm not fannish about, but I just enjoy a whole fucking lot.

And then, last night, there was the premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which I can't really talk about in coherant terms. I have always loved the Terminator series (T3: The Abomination, does not exist in my head).


1. OMG! That is a really short skirt Lena Headey is wearing. Damn.

2. It's Zach. I'm not a Zach fan. Oh buggery, is this going to be a big problem or what?

3. OMG! A TERMINATOR! A TERMINATOR [/5 year-old voice]

4. OMG! RYAN O'REILLY! RYAN O'REILLY! [/25 year-old voice]

5. I am really digging Lena Headey's hair. Damn. I need to get my hair cut like that.

7. River! River go squish in the brain pan! Does Zach really think she's hitting on his greasy ass? Dude, her skin is AWESOME. Wow. And she can totally do the teen girl thing. Except for looking 30.

8. Wow, Thomas Dekker I really hope that you only have the thin greasy, wispy hair for the pilot b/c your hair is really disturbing me right now. Like I can't focus on anything else and that's bad.

9. IT'S STEVEN! STEVEN FROM KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL! This is the best series evah!! FOX if you fuck this up, I will blow up FOX plaza.

10. OMG! Violence in the classroom! Stabbing in the leg! Shooting kids! I bet the Parent Advisory Board are shitting themselves. Go SNP (Standards & Practices) for taking one for the team!

11. Wow. Steven is hot when he's kicking ass. Where's Jack to see this?

12. DUDE! Total shout to to T2 with the Terminator getting run over by truck and the whole Miles Dyson (Joe Morton!) thing.

15. Steven Dedalus vs. River Tam. I love this show.

17. So, the Terminator and Sarah are raising John together. Like always. Two lesbians and their son. Oh, I'm SO digging this shit. Rock on!

I did not know Ryan was going to be in the Terminator thing. I might have screamed a bit in joy. And then Steven from Kitchen Confidential who I also did not know was on it showed up and he looks really hot all blown up and it was all very good.

I knew about Steven, but not about Ryan. I told someone else that this is what happens when fan people get to make their own telly show. It was AWESOME! And Shawn and Gus! OMG! How upset was Shawn when he found out Gus had married someone else?! Makes you wonder what was really in that book of speeches! I bet if Gus flipped all the way to the back he'd find a marriage proposal. *ponders*

I saw the pilot last summer, and the version of the classroom scene that aired was cut down. I was still surprised, though, because I'd heard that they were reworking the pilot post-Virginia Tech and expected the shooting to have disappeared completely.

Such an awesome show. I can't wait for tonight.

And mm, I find I find new fandoms, leave old ones more or less behind but never really quit fandom as a 'thing'. It always resurfaces, in new forms.

My TIVO told me about it! Srsly. During an ad for the show (that I was Tivoing through at a faster clip), there were flashing lights asking me if I wanted to see the preview that caught my eye and made me stop.

I was so pleased they did such a good job -- I hate to use the word "edgy", but there you go. I mean, they never blinked. Mom beats the crap out of a cop while still wearing handcuffs. A guy slices open his leg and pulls out a gun in a classroom and starts shooting, for cripe's sake -- they *went* there, and nobody made them "think of the children" even once. And, oh, the naked time-travel. If you're gonna do Terminator, *DO* Terminator, not some sort of family-friendly fluffy crap, and they did it right.

Of course, with all these witnesses, it begs the question, when is somebody in power gonna finally say, "Okay, these people are being chased by robots, maybe someone *isn't* as crazy as we all thought."

I think it was 'edgy' for network telly. If this were a premium channel, we would expect nothing less. Regardless, it was very well done. I was most pleased.
