Yesterday, while scrounging for music, I told you about a mix that I'd meant to make, well, today I got inspired.

Based on some comments I've gotten recently about artists I pimp that aren't commercially recognized (because the radio is evil) I present to you lot the Who the Fuck Are You? Mix. This isn't necessarily a mix of people you've never heard of, but of people who I think should be loved more.

Who The Fuck Are You? Mix

1. Matt Costa 'Never Looking Back'
2. Meredith Bragg 'My Absent Will' <-- A man, not a woman.
3. Pacifika 'Me Cai' <-- Peruvian music, which is not unlike sex
4. Gnarls Barkley 'Going On' <-- My favorite song from The Odd Couple
5. The Filthy Youth 'City Stop' <-- Yes, that's Chuck from Gossip Girl's band. He's English. Pimping is mandatory
6. DeVotchKa 'Transliterator'
7. Andrew Bird 'Heretics' <-- My favorite song over five albums
8. She and Him 'Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?'
9. Frightened Rabbit 'Head Rolls Off' <-- They are Scottish and scruffy. How can you say no?
10. Greg Laswell 'How the Day Sounds' <-- Is absolutely fabulous live. Also used to date Mandy Moore.
11. Jenny Owens Young 'Fuck Was I' <-- What woman has not asked herself this question?
12. Mae 'Ocean' <-- Don't let the name fool you. These are boys.
13. Zack Hexum 'Met a Girl Like You Once' <-- Zack is the little brother on Nick from 311.
14. Why? 'The Hollows <-- I hadn't planned on putting them here, but they sing about seing two guys making out on the basketball court. I was obligated.
15. Elbow 'Audience With the Pope' <-- A song about prioritization
16. DJ Shadow 'Six Days'

Great mix! I see a couple I already adore.

I love Andrew Bird. Guys with violins is totally my weak spot. A friend introduced me to him and...damn. He's so talented! I missed out on his concert, but I did get to see him open at the Hollywood Bowl. I went just for him.

Going to see She and Him in a couple of weeks. So excited! I saw Zooey and M. Ward at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This (http://youtube.com/watch?v=97SIFsLVj0k) blew my socks off.

Andrew is rather spectacular. I very much enjoy him with Bowlful of Eggs, but I also really like him solo.

Downloaded, and let me tell you, I was really confused listening to Pacifika cos I was expecting them to sing in Latin. *smacks head on wall*

LOL. No dear, the other Latin. Would you feel better if I said Peruvian?

Much better thanks! I also get a double *headdesk* for thinking that actual Latin is sex. I need help

I am proud to say I'm not completely oblivious to who these artists are. In fact while going through a break up last summer "Fuck Was I" was on some seriously heavy rotation. That being said I can't wait to listen to this mix of artists you have introduced me to.

I downloaded this - hope that's okay. I really appreciate people on the net who make playlists like this. I love being exposed to music I wouldn't find otherwise. (Have the hugest love-on for 'Fuck Was I'.)

Muuusic. THANK-YOU! I...live under a rock and have only heard of the DJ Shadow song. (Well, and The Filthy Youth, because Gossip Girl was the shiny new thing I could not shut up about, until it went on hiatus. I'm sure my poor flist cannot wait to hear me yammering nonstop about it in squee-tones again when it returns. Heh.)

14. Why? 'The Hollows <-- I hadn't planned on putting them here, but they sing about seing two guys making out on the basketball court. I was obligated.

I'm glad you threw that in there, because having just listened to it, I may love it. Lots. Wheeee.

I'm loving several of the other songs/bands, as well. (I didn't so much mention that. Heh.) Now I've got more things to add to my list of groups/people I've never heard of before that need checking out! Yay. *g* I just got hooked on this sadly disbanded group called Mclusky from a friend, and hadn't previously known of them either. (Due to this song: "Icarus Smicarus" - Mclusky) If it weren't for generous people on LJ, my musical tastes would be much poorer.
