1. GK fen, Don’t Lick Your Fingers When You Turn the Page by [livejournal.com profile] nightanddaze is a gorgeous, lyrical study of Brad and Nate (and a Sharpie) in and out of theater. Definitely recommended.

1a. ETA: I forgot to mention that I wrote some GK comment!fic over here for A. It's a long thread, but you know how I we are. Keep scrolling, it's worth it. And now there's even more! I really should look into get paid per comment.

1b. ETA #2: Robert Downey Jr. (or as I call him, the first Mrs. Ari Gold) is all about the circumstantial homosexuality. Shocking, people.

2. People who are into cartoons, might be interested to know that Cartoon Network's The Super Hero Squad Show (26x30), which is slated to debut on Cartoon Network in the US this September 2009 will feature the following voice overs: Shawn Ashmore as Iceman, LeVar Burton as Rhodey, Taye Diggs as the Black Panther, Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) as Dormammu, Greg Grunberg as Ant-Man, Mark Hamill as the Red Skull, Lena Headey as the Black Widow, Tricia Helfer as Sif, Cheryl Hines as Stardust, Wayne Knight as Egghead, James Marsters as Mr. Fantastic, Jennifer Morrison as the Wasp, Adrian Pasdar as Hawkeye, Kevin Sorbo as Ka-Zar, George Takei as Galactus and Michelle Trachtenberg as the Galkyrie, and Stan Lee as the voice of the Mayor of Super Hero City. (Inorite!)

3. Don't you fucking hate it when there's a song you love and you can't find the blasted thing anywhere to buy? Yeah, I totally hate that. Listen to Bill Baylis 'Better Man' here anyway. (It sounds like somebody unearthed Richard Ashcroft and Seal doing a duet with the London Community Gospel Choir Yes, really).

And on the subject of music, apparently it's been quite some time since I provided you lot with new sounds for your ears. My bad! I like to call this mix: Things I Think You Should Be Listening To, So Listen Now, Dammit!* (Good for exercising, driving in the car, grocery shopping, breathing, doing the laundry and in general just chanting along while doing cult activities like creating art and writing porn).

Listen to This

1.Doves 'Jetstream' <-- From 'Kingdom of Rust', which is an album actually worth waiting three years for
2. Regina Spektor 'Eet'
3. Matt & Kim 'Daylight' <-- Yes, from that damn commercial, and exceedingly better than whatever it's selling.
4. The Knux 'Bang Bang'
5. Green Day 'Know Your Enemy'
6. Slow Club 'Christmas TV' <-- If this song doesn't steal your heart, you are soul-less I tell you. Even my wizened, black shriveled up heart unclenched at this one.
7. Public Enemy 'Fight the Power' <-- CLASSIC
8. Lily Allen 'Him'
9. Brandtson 'Earthquakes & Sharks' <-- An ode to all the things that'll kill you in Mexico and California. Killer bees, chupacabra and all.
10. Estelle 'American Boy'
11. Sam & Ruby 'Heaven's My Home' <-- The unofficial theme for 'Son is on a Midnight Run Like DeNiro'
12. Palenke Soultribe 'No Voy a Morir'
13. Stevie Wonder 'Higher Ground'
14. The New York Fund 'The Guns of Camden Town' <-- I've been listening to this song for six months and it never gets old

I've been meaning to put that song up for months, it's just so pretty and hopeful. The world needs more of that.

I haven't seen a guest set like that in a long fucking time. And the regular roles are being done by the voices of Spongebob and a whole slew of very well compensated and famous voices.

Yay for Doves! YAY! *\o/*

You should definitely give Some Cities a listen too, that my most favoritest Doves album ever only slightly edging out The Last Broadcast.

(They are amazing live, FYI, if you ever find them in your city).

Hooray, music! Downloading, with thanks.

Pee Ess, if you want a nice pickup for the day, you should watch the video of the man's 400 free relay from Sunday, because while it wasn't as nerve wracking as the Beijing one, it was still pretty awesome.

I mean, Michael is back to godawful speedos and weirdly homoerotic posing, both on bikes and with jauntily tilted hats. Ryan, meanwhile, seems to be mainly concentrating on growing his hair out.

WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME SWIMMING WAS THIS WEEK?! I'VE MISSED LIKE EVERYTHING! *sulks* Also, Michael's floral briefs are so gay even gay men are like whoa.

Nah, dude, it's only the second day. Should be running the rest of the week, though I'm mainly just watching online at Universal Sports, since I don't get NBC Sports.

I KNOW, right? I think it also says something that he (says he did, anyway) lazed around for six months and still has no backside to speak of.

From: [identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com
Holy ish! I just watched that 200 free that Michael lost to Bidermann and I swear Bidermann wasn't even in the water, he was just flying along on top of it. Can one suit really do that much and why is everybody all crazy about this suit when it was okay with the LZR made you faster? I smell sour milk.

Date: 2009-07-30 10:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thorne-scratch.livejournal.com
I know! That's kind of my question also: is this advantage comparable to what the LZR was giving people in Beijing? Is it the same amount of availability? I have the impression (though I could be totally wrong) that the new suit uses different material-- like, rubberized instead of textile-- and they say it's closer to the skin.

If they stick with dawdling on the ruling of the new suits, I suspect we'll see what we did for the LZR: people contracted to other companies will eventually just use the new suits anyway, and cover the logos. I think the Nike and Adidas and other sponsors let a whole bunch of the swimmers get away with that because PR convinced them it would be more entertaining to see records falling than to be sticklers.

However, Michael's in an interesting, if sticky position. He's pretty much married to Speedo, and there is no way they'd let him ever race with another sponsor. Other swimmers could get away with stepping out on their sponsors because they just weren't as in the public eye. Awkward.

...I see you have posted new GK fic. I must investigate this. Closely.

Date: 2009-07-30 10:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hackthis.livejournal.com
It sounds like sour grapes to me, baby. Some people have the suits, some people don't. Some sponsors have the technology, some don't. Why don't they all just swim naked and then we don't have to worry about such foolishness? The sponsors can be endorsed with body paint. :D

See, the initial picture of naked track and field was sexy for me, but then I just started envisioning dongs flapping wildly in all directions, and now I'm back in snickering fifth grade mode for the moment.

Okay, you might hate me and all that, but I NEED TO ADD YOU TO MY FLIST.
a) because you're gk fan.
b) because you write awesome fics
and this wouldn't be a problem, because usually I add people who write fics and they just ignore me, because it's how the world works, but
BUT. THIS.

If Slow Club stole your heart using Christmas TV, then you're my brother in arms.

*doesn't talk anymore*

and yes, english is not my primary language, thanks for noticing XD
