Music - Unknown Variables.

I am doing some spring cleaning (yes, in August) and I've come across a plethora of music that I want to share with you. I cannot vouch for the entire ouvre of anybody here (apart from Dead Man's Bones, which is Ryan Gosling's band, and OMG!). I digress. As I was saying, I can't vouch for any of the artists per se(apart from Gomez, who are awesome), but what I can tell you is that you will find at least one song on here you will love*. The diversity of choice: blues, rock, country, sultry, swing, dance, etc. will see to that. It's all about the lyrics, man.
So, if you'd come back later and tell me what you liked that'd be kind of awesome.

1. Dead Man's Bones 'The Room Where You Sleep' <-- Ryan Gosling has a band. It's AWESOME.
2. Gomez 'Natural Reaction'
3. Colin Hay 'No Time'
4. The Watson Twins 'Rebel Soldier'
5. Melody Gardot 'Our Love is Easy' <-- I am notoriously picky about my female singers, but I love her voice.
6. Lisa Shaw 'Like I Want To'
7. Tim Easton 'Burgundy Red'
8. Wild Beasts 'The Devil's Crayon' <-- I once listened to this six times straight.
9. Orie Lavie 'Ruby Rises'
10. Animal Collective 'My Girls' <-- A song not about being a pimp, but about trying to provide for your family.
11. The Boxer Rebellion 'Flashing Red Light Means Go'
12. Travis Graves 'How Can a Human Mind?' <--Travis used to be a pro skateboarder. This is clearly a better profession (ha!)
13. Ida Maria 'Keep Me Warm'
14. The Pretenders 'Almost Perfect' <-- Okay, I lied, everybody likes The Pretenders
15. Volumen Cero 'Chinese Connection'
16. The Silent Years 'On Our Way Home' <-- This just makes me feel happy.

Date: 2009-08-21 05:47 am (UTC)1. Dead Man's Bones 'The Room Where You Sleep' - Ryan Gosling can sing?? No, wait: Ryan Gosling can sing THIS FUCKING WELL??? Jesus.
5. Melody Gardot 'Our Love is Easy' - yeah, crawled into my bones on the first listen. She's got this quality of sort of... peaceful, exquisite sadness in her voice. Great song.
7. Tim Easton 'Burgundy Red' - niiiiiiiice.
8. Wild Beasts 'The Devil's Crayon' - damn, I can see why one would listen to this one six times on repeat.
15. Volumen Cero 'Chinese Connection' - huh, instant hook.
16. The Silent Years 'On Our Way Home' - my nostalgia is acting up because I can't listen to this in public for fear of crying. (But good song!)

Date: 2009-08-21 10:34 pm (UTC)I laughed at your "notoriously picky about my female singers" comment, as I am the opposite. The vast majority of my music is female voices, and only select male voices/bands make the cut. Happy to say most of the tracks I liked the best, listed below, were the guys (The Boxer Rebellion & Tim Easton kick ass - I may have a couple of new musical obsessions!)
Gomez 'Natural Reaction'
Colin Hay 'No Time'
Tim Easton 'Burgundy Red'
The Boxer Rebellion 'Flashing Red Light Means Go'
Travis Graves 'How Can a Human Mind?' <--Travis used to be a pro skateboarder. This is clearly a better profession (ha!)
Ida Maria 'Keep Me Warm'
Thanks for sharing.
