Only problem is now my computer's gone apeshit and all the scrolling is terrible as is the cursor and they just jump around on every page regardless of if I'm in IE or Mozilla. Uh, anybody know what I did and can tell me what I have to reinstall to make it stop?
I would be most grateful for the help.
Thanks.
(I have Windows XP on a laptop, just so you know this isn't a Mac issue).
ALL IS FIXED. I THINK. I'VE BEEN OUT DRINKING AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT UNTIL TOMORROW.

Date: 2009-09-16 03:50 am (UTC)Another option, if it's a name brand computer (especially a Dell) is that you can get the drivers that came with it online pretty easily. If you want, you can give me the make and model (and if it's a Dell, the ESC--um, E?? Service Code, a 7 digit numeral/letter dealie on the box [ETA: by 'box' I mean the computer, not the box you got it in] somewhere). I can find your drivers for you, more than likely.

Date: 2009-09-16 03:58 am (UTC)ETA: Also, does the name Synaptic ring any bells, for the thing you uninstalled? That's the name for the touchpad driver, which does have a scroll function built into its name.

Date: 2009-09-16 04:09 am (UTC)I totally trust me, but if I were you, I'd virus scan that just to be safe. :D Sort of like always wearing a condom. Anyway, if you run that, it will come up and say it's the Synaptics Touchpad driver. The directions just say to run it, and do what it tells you on-screen, so it should be pretty straightforward.
Or you can just get it from HP's page for your laptop, which is here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=500508&lang=en
I grabbed the latest Synaptics driver from that page. It wouldn't hurt to save that link--on the other hand, HP/Compaq redoes their site organization not infrequently, so who knows how long that search link will be good.
