Watch this now. Yes, that is an order.

I talk about my love of Generation Kill a lot but not so much about my love of Band of Brothers, which is kind of hysterical, because if your name is
spookshowbaby BoB is like the only thing I talked about for the better part of seven months. The point being that if at this point my harassment has compelled you to watch one of these amazing series but not the other, I hope this super trailer which blends Generation Kill and Band of Brothers into some sort of wartime epic will convince you to give the one you're missing a shot. You wouldn't think meshing 1944 and 2003 together would work. You'd be wrong.
And if you've watched both, well, then you are REALLY gonna love this.

Date: 2009-10-09 12:20 am (UTC)It had been a while since I had seen a show that seemed even remotely realistic, that was serious and interesting and layered. It wasn't quite The Wire*, but it was pretty good. Ah, TV execs; you never fail to disappoint.
* but then, what show could be, really?

Date: 2009-10-10 03:35 am (UTC)Though I did notice a couple of spots where there could have been some even greater matching of shots - like if after the shot of kids looking over the bridge at the columns of troops marching it then cut to the shot of columns of vehicles clogging Iraq's highways (would've been a nice commentary on how war has changed) or if from the BoB dude taking a swig - should've been Nixon there - it cut to Gabe taking a swig (would've been a nice commentary on how it has not). OH! Or from Webster giving the kid chocolate to Poke giving the girls the HumRats.
But overall, awesome. Both minis and this.
WOW
Date: 2009-12-08 05:57 am (UTC)I have Band of Brothers lined up on my Netflix queue for the moment I'm finished with exams, and this solidified my desire to watch the show. Coupled with Generation Kill--you're write--seems to make for an incredibly EPIC wartime movie! I almost forgot that I knew these were two separate TV series as I watched!!!
