Many many moons ago,
kattiya told me of a legend. The legend of James Dean and Paul Newman. Yes, pause. Breathe. The story goes that Paul Newman and James Dean did a screen test years ago for East of Eden, which you know, is a lot of hotass in one place, but the money shot being that they were involved. I was understandably dubious. And then I saw the clip below.
Whether the shenanigans went down before, during or after this test I'll let you judge, but let me tell you, I can't even call this UST. I know couples that don't ignite like this. In fact, let's call it, as
kattiya says, "There is stuff happening." You cannot listen to Paul's nervous laugh, see the way he looks at Jimmy, or the way they mention *kissing* and call this straight.
The only straight thing here is the camera angle. Enjoy, babies.
There's a better version of the second half
So. Where is the slash for this? C'mon folks.

THANKS. (I'll be stealing this and re-posting if that's ok)

Date: 2009-11-17 07:32 pm (UTC)I recently read that Laurence Olivier had an affair with Danny Kaye. It is actually funny, how many male movie stars I adored when I was younger (Danny Kaye, for example), were actually gay or at least bi. I still vividly remember my crush on Montgomery Clift in Red River. Good Times.

Also, James' smile and the nervous pen (?) tossing. YES.

Date: 2009-11-17 09:07 pm (UTC)The corker (for me at least) is that I watch Paul and all I can do is think of Brad and a nervous laugh. Shut up, yes, I know, Brad with a nervous laugh would be the most adorable fucking thing ever. And the way he would keep looking at Nate's mouth and Nate would blush, but it would make him really bold. Like James Dean is nothing like Nate, but the way James focuses on the camera like he just knows Paul is there, nervous and wanting him.

Date: 2009-11-17 10:01 pm (UTC)oh the boys back then were so much dreamier *o* I love James' smile! and GUH Paul Newman. Everything about Paul Newman. The bowtie and the cigarette behind his ear, and his quirky little charm and comments ♥
I mean really, who have we got now that can compete with that level of attractiveness, poise and chemistry. (...well...ok Matthew Goode is like my modern day Paul Newman but James/Paul is just *guh*)
