everybody and their grandmothers is doing this meme, and normally i'd say 'no thanks' but this is different. i actually *want* to know the answers, so i've edited to ask what i really want to know. and yes, you can be honest and tell me i suck. yes, seriously. open cross fandom so you know open for AtS, SV and HP discussion.
1.1) What was the first story you read that I wrote?
1.2) What do you remember most about it?
2.1) What story of mine do you like the best?
2.2) What separates it from other stories like it?
3.1) What story of mine do you like the *least*?
3.2) Why?
4.1) Is there a specific character or situation you'd like to see me try my hand at?
5.1) Is there anything, in your experience, that you think would help me fix a specific flaw in my writing?
1.1) What was the first story you read that I wrote?
1.2) What do you remember most about it?
Christ, the first AtS story I ever wrote is called 'A Little Faith,' and god forgive me, but it's in first person. I'd written it as part of a Halloween RR for an Angel list I was on, and what I remember the most about it was how easy it was to write. I thought it sucked muchly, but like two years later I *still* get archive requests. Weird.
The first SV story I wrote was 'Worth' and again it was one of those easy ass pieces that I give zero thought (people inevitably seem to like those better). I remember I wrote it in my mum's basement when I was home for Thanksgiving, and I didn't think much of it, but then again I rarely do think much of what I write.
The first HP story I ever did is the only collaboration I've ever done as well. It's called 'The Boy Who Wasn't There' and I wrote it with Kassie. (I like that story, where the hell is it?) I also did a Draco/Hermione drabble as part of a past-tense exercise for Hope.
2.1) What story of mine do you like the best?
2.2) What separates it from other stories like it?
The SV story I like the best? Christ, I don't actually like any of them that much, but 'Coming Second' - which is a Chloe POV - might be the one that I could live with. I like it because it's honest and euphoric and depressing at the same time. What separates it for me is just that I actually still like it. I also like 'Inevitability (SV)' and 'Claustrophobia' (AtS) and The Better Living Through Learning Series (HP), but like is not love.
3.1) What story of mine do you like the *least*?
3.2) Why?
Hah, where to begin. My all time 'oh, my god, does this suck more than s1 lana and s3 angel' would have to be 'Mourning (SV).' It's just bad, bad writing. I remember I wrote it post Hourglass and I was so excited about the episode that I wrote it and 'The Rescue Blues' at the same time - at least TRB doesn't suck as much as 'Mourning' does though. I'd also like to give honorable mention to: 'Borrowed Time', '(I) Might Be Wrong,' and 'Drawn from Memory,' which are all SV and 'Despots and Whores' which is HP. Actually I quite like 'Despots and Whores' but as I forgot HP-canon it's pointless.
4.1) Is there a specific character or situation you'd like to see me try my hand at?
Meh. Y'all can answer that one
5.1) Is there anything, in your experience, that you think would help me fix a specific flaw in my writing?
Oh god, where to begin. I used to write in these chopped up phrase-y type of stories (see AtS), and then I came to SV and was still writing them but then I went all flowery as well. ::shakes head sadly:: But I remember asking Criss to beta something for me once and her saying that I needed to write in actual sentences for a change, changed my life that did. HP seems to be benefiting from that the most. I'd like to be able to write more expository stuff, but I seem to be stuck writing from the inside of people's heads.
