About two months ago I wrote a little Inception story called Kobayashi Maru. I like it, it's a good story. It doesn't make me want to go, "No, that wasn't me. You must be mistaken."

A day later I posted this wee thing called How to Dress Your Man/Character: An Informal Tutorial Heavy on the PicSpam.

One of the designers I made sure to mention in both the story and the post was Ozwald Boateng. I love his work. I love his use of color. I love the cut of his suits. And also, he is fucking hot. Like burning. Just saying.

At the time I made those two posts Ozwald was still preparing for London Fashion Week (Spring/Summer 2011), so his website wasn't up and running, but now that Fashion Week is over, the website is up: AND THE SHOW IS ON THE WEBSITE. ALL TWENTY MINUTES OF IT.

If you've been to a fashion show, you haven't been to one like this. And if you haven't been to a fashion show before, now's a good time to break the seal. Give him your virginity, you'll be better for it. Ozwald uses models, but he also uses men his scouts get off the street. You can tell the difference by the walks, by the tats, by the body types and expressions. And yet? Hotass abounds.

Also, he's got about 70 looks here, which is enormously impressive. I will admit upfront that the first set of looks were a bit meh to me (drop crotch trousers are NOT OKAY), but the second set, and the third set and the hats and the suits at the end had me stomping my feet and clapping my hands, because talent is talent. And this man? Is swimming in it. (There's a reason he's mates with Eames in my head. And in KM ;-)

So. If you are so inclined, take 20 minutes, have a look, realize there is so much more to menswear than just jeans from Wal-Mart and a tee shirt from the GAP. And men of the world, pleasepleaseplease, stop buying trousers and jeans that don't fit your lower half. Cause, really, with a little effort you could dress like this.

WATCH IT. I THINK YOU'LL LIKE IT

OH, GOD!

The man can cut a jacket for real! I love many if not all of the suits. I ADORE the biscuit colored coat at the beginning of the second group. And the long lingering shots of HOT ARSES made giggle, repeatedly.

Thanks so much for linking this!

Although I still think his trousers break in a weird spot.

You had me at "tats."

ETA: I still think I'm more of a fan of women's fashion, but I loved the presentation here. It was very different. I also enjoyed how he slowly began integrating color and all of a sudden, the pieces just popped with bursts of it. I'm a fan of the black/white with a hint of color as a detail. Alexander Skarsgard did it at comic con last year, with a black suit and a red/pink pair of socks. I saw it here in blue, which is my favorite color. Perfection.

I was a fan of the full color suits as well, especially the ones that were accessorized. Loooooved the third suit in the second set (after everyone appeared to have left the stage) and that fabulous green scarf on that dude at the end of the show.

This was a huge collection and I appreciate how much diversity there was amongst the models. Very interesting work and I could picture Eames in a lot of these pieces.

I appreciate all kinds of fashion, so I'm glad you liked it :)

As for diversity among the models, yeah, it's one of the things I love about him. I find minority designers tend to have more diverse shows in general.

I have a theory that Ozwald saw him out one night, maybe at Brown's or something. Possibly at the pub. And Eames' style is like whoa, and Eames thought Ozwald was trying to chat him up and Ozwald's like, "No, I'm a designer for real. Look it up. Stop by the shop." And Eames was like "Whatever," and then he got curious, like you do, and looked Ozwald up and came by the shop and they've been mates ever since. What?

This is exactly how it goes. Yes. Yes! And Ozwald designs all manner of sartorial splendor for Eames. With lashings of color. Because Eames is not afraid.

Oh god, Boateng. I believe "unf" and "break me offa piece of that" are in order. Possibly about his clothes, possibly about him, mostly likely both. And of course the show is done perfectly, gaahhh. (Also, randomly, the model at the end of the black/grey section with the sweater neck jacket thing is kinda insanely gorgeous.)

Also, thank you for the glorious new headcanon re: Ozwald + Eames = mates. <3

(I still say he, Simon Spurr and Billy Reid just need to dress every man ever.)

If anyone could have seen me while I was watching that, they would have though I was a crazy person yelling and flailing and going into hysterics.

Nnngh. He's been one of my favorite menswear designers for years and I love everything he does (well, except for those nasty drop crotch things :/).

I have a random and off topic question. Someone wrote an Arthur/Eames story, and I thought it might have been you, but I can't figure it out. At the end, in the author's notes, it says that this Arthur is who JGL's character from Brick grew up to be. If you recognize, can you help a girl out? Please? :D
